Mon Dec 13 202109:13D'Angelo Russell Returns With An 18-5-5 Line
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell ended a three-game absence with 18 points, five rebounds and five assists in Sunday's win over the Blazers. He bagged a pair of steals as well with two turnovers and 5-for-12 shooting. He was on a roll from downtown with a 4-for-8 effort. There were talks of Russell returning from an ankle problem with a minutes restriction, but he ended up logging 35 minutes. Russell had performed poorly from the field in his first couple of December outings and his Sunday's performance was a step in the right direction. He'll head out against the Nuggets next before facing the Lakers in a revenge game.

Sun Dec 12 202117:49D'Angelo Russell Will Likely Play With A Minutes Restriction
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) is considered questionable for Sunday's contest against Portland, but it looks like he will return to action with a minutes restriction. Russell has missed three games for the slumping T-Wolves. Patrick Beverley and Leandro Bolmaro have earned starts during Russell's absence. Beverley's fantasy value takes a bit of a hit with Russell's return, but the two have managed to coexist together this season and the veteran guard can still be a useful piece for fantasy managers. Bolmaro has featured very little for the team and the news doesn't really have any impact on him fantasy-wise.

Sat Dec 11 202120:38D'Angelo Russell Tagged As Questionable For Sunday
Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. He was able to go through a workout ahead of Friday's game. However, he didn't play, but has a chance of getting back into action here. His return would push Taurean Prince back to the bench and Patrick Beverley would lose some appeal. Also, Malik Beasley wouldn't be asked to shoot as much once Russell returns. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for more information.

Fri Dec 10 202114:26D'Angelo Russell Expected To Sit Out On Friday
Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) is expected to miss Friday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Russell has already missed multiple games due to this issue, so it wouldn't be shocking to see him sit out at least one more game. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Russell through the injury. In the meantime, Malik Beasley should absorb more minutes and continue being a valuable fantasy option.

Thu Dec 9 202120:44D'Angelo Russell Tagged As Questionable For Friday
Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has missed each of the last two games, which has freed up more minutes for Malik Beasley. That should remain the case if Russell is unable to play again. Beasley has been a strong fantasy option while getting additional time on the court. Patrick Beverley (groin) is listed as probable for this contest. His absence would mean an even bigger role for Beasley and Anthony Edwards.

Tue Nov 30 202109:17D'Angelo Russell Picks Up A Double-Double Monday Night
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell recorded his first double-double of the season in Monday's win over Indiana, scoring 21 points on 7-for-17 shooting and handing out 11 assists with just one turnover in 39 minutes. He was 3-for-9 with three-ball and even flirted with a triple-double, tallying eight rebounds. Russell completed his line with one steal. The 25-year-old can look forward to a revenge game against Brooklyn this week, but he needs to focus on the Wizards first. Washington is giving up a lot of assists to opposing point guards this season, but they are allowing them to shoot just 40.6 percent, so Russell could have a mixed performance on Wednesday.

Sun Nov 28 202108:14D'Angelo Russell Notches Season-High 35 Points
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell picked up season-high 35 points on 13-for-25 shooting in Saturday's double-overtime win against the Sixers, going a superb 6-for-10 from downtown. He recorded four rebounds and eight assists, while also making big plays on the defensive end. Russell snapped up his second steal of the night with 10 seconds left in the second overtime, which led to a game-winning basket. He also produced two blocks in 44 minutes of action. The 25-year-old continues to switch between good and mediocre performances and this one was a great one from him. However, fantasy managers should now be wary of the matchup, as it's been a while since Russell has managed to string together two strong performances. The meeting against Indiana isn't a great spot for him either.

Sun Nov 21 202108:53D'Angelo Russell Scores Game-High 28 Points
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell scored at will against Memphis on Saturday, racking up 28 points in 27 minutes in a 138-95 blowout win. He hit four triples with nine attempts and shot 9-for-15 overall from the field and 6-for-9 at the foul line. Russell finished things off with four rebounds and five assists. That's now five 20-point games for Russell this month after he had a slow start to the season. The Timberwolves have regained some confidence with three straight wins and will have a good chance to extend the streak against a poor Pelicans squad on Monday. Russell should have another good night there against a leaky defense.

Fri Nov 19 202108:51D'Angelo Russell Scores 22 Points In Thursday's Win
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell hit four triples and shot 6-for-19 from the field en route to 22 points in Thursday's 115-90 win over San Antonio. He was 6-for-7 at the foul line and delivered five assists with three turnovers while grabbing three rebounds and recording one steal and one block in 31 minutes. Russell's shooting has been ugly this month, but he's still managed 20-plus points in four of the past seven games while averaging 6.4 assists during the stretch. He'll be in a pretty uncomfortable spot next against Memphis, but next week's first matchup against New Orleans looks like a tasty one for Russell. Point guards are scoring 24.3 points per 48 minutes against the Pelicans this season, shooting over 48 percent from the field.

Sat Nov 13 202107:43D'Angelo Russell Compiles 22-5-7 Line Friday Night
Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell had a good revenge game against the Lakers on Friday, scoring 22 points on 8-for-19 shooting with five rebounds and seven assists in a nice 107-83 road win. He shot 5-for-9 from outside and bagged one steal while committing four turnovers in 34 minutes. Russell's shooting has been poor mostly this season but this was a good effort from him. It was also a great matchup for the 25-year-old, as stopping guards has been a problem for the Lakers all season. Russell will be in another favorable spot on Saturday against the Clippers, who own good defensive numbers in general but whose work against backcourts needs improving.

Tue Nov 9 202107:57D'Angelo Russell Returns With A 30-Point Effort
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell ended a two-game absence on Monday and crushed it against the Grizzlies in a 125-118 overtime loss with a team-high 30 points on 10-for-22 shooting. He nailed six shots from deep with 13 attempts and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the line with five rebounds, seven assists, one steal, one block and two turnovers in 41 minutes. Russell has struggled to stay efficient this season, but this was a good one and should lift his confidence ahead of a couple of revenge games against the Warriors and the Lakers. Golden State has looked superb defensively, so Russell will have a tough time to shine there, but in the Lakers, he'll face a team that has allowed the most points in the league per 48 minutes to opposing point guards.

Mon Nov 8 202118:50D'Angelo Russell Back On Monday
Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) will return for Monday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The star guard has missed each of the last two games while dealing with an ankle issue. His return will push Patrick Beverley back to the bench and end most of his streaming appeal. Also, Malik Beasley and Anthony Edwards are likely going to see less shots with Russell back in the rotation. Russell has been off to a slow start to the season, but is a safe play in season long formats on Monday.

Thu Nov 4 202119:24D'Angelo Russell Will Miss Friday’s Game
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's contest against the Clippers due to a sprained right ankle. The absence will be Russell's second in a row due to the ailment, which he sustained Monday. In his place, Patrick Beverley drew the start Wednesday and collected 10 points and 10 rebounds across 31 minutes. Additionally, the shot volume of Anthony Edwards and Malik Beasley stands to be elevated so long as Russell is out of the mix. The next opportunity that he will have to return to action comes Monday vs. Memphis.

Thu Nov 4 202118:00D'Angelo Russell Fails To Practice Thursday
Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) missed Thursday's practice. Russell has been dealing with a sprained right ankle, which limited him to side work with a trainer at Thursday's session, as the young guard worked on physical therapy with a medicine ball. It sounds like Russell is trending towards missing Friday's rematch with the Clippers, though it's a good sign for his return timetable that the team hasn't officially ruled him out yet. Patrick Beverley, who just missed out on a triple-double, would be a sneaky-good DFS play in the rematch with his former team if Russell sits out again.

Tue Nov 2 202119:15D'Angelo Russell Ruled Out For Wednesday
Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) won't play on Wednesday against the Clippers. Russell was limited to just 17 minutes after injuring his ankle Monday- and won't be healthy enough to suit up for the upcoming contest. Russell's absence should mean more ball-handling opportunities for Jordan McLaughlin and Malik Beasley- though much of the starting point guard's usage figures to go to top scorers Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards.

Mon Nov 1 202121:56D'Angelo Russell Injured On Monday Night
Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) was injured during Monday's matchup against the Magic. The 25-year-old sprained his right ankle during the first half and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the contest. Before succumbing to the ailment, Russell has was having a rough night, shooting just 1-for-8 from the field for only three points throughout 17 minutes. Although his status is up in the air for Wednesday's showdown against the Clippers, it wouldn't be a surprise if he wasn't available. In his stead, Jordan McLaughlin and Malik Beasley should get some extra run, although the latter should be the preferred option for fantasy purposes.

Mon May 17 202119:06Rookie Edwards makes himself room in top trio for T-wolves
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — More than a year after acquiring D'Angelo Russell as the pick-and-roll initiator for pal Karl-Anthony Towns, the Minnesota Timberwolves finally closed this season with a full month of games that both halves of their star pairing were available to play in. Their biggest takeaway from the longest stretch of time Towns and Russell have had together on the floor was that they're actually only two parts of what has quickly become a formidable trio. Anthony Edwards filled his audition for the NBA Rookie of the Year award with high-flying dunks, timely 3-pointers and wide smiles, leaving the Timberwolves with no regret about making him the first overall pick in the draft. Towns and Russell will have to make room. “They help me tremendously, because they can space the floor, so it makes it easier to get downhill," said Edwards, who led all first-year players in scoring at 19.3 points per game at age 19. "Because I’m so dynamic going downhill, it opens the '3' up for them. Like,... [More]
Mon Feb 22 202120:32Finch aims to 'breathe some confidence' back into Wolves
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — When the Minnesota Timberwolves decided again to change coaches, president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas turned to one of the candidates he interviewed during the last search. The dossier on Chris Finch was still fresh. The last round of this came less than two years ago. “I think the near-misses motivated me even more. Everything happens for a reason. This is a place I really want to be. This is place I wanted to be in 2019,” said Finch, who was introduced Monday as the 14th coach of the Timberwolves in 32 seasons after less than three months as an assistant for the Toronto Raptors. Finch replaced Ryan Saunders, who was fired Sunday night after Minnesota lost at New York and fell to a league-worst 7-24. “We had a group that was able to build leads. We didn’t have a group that was able to finish games, and that’s something that became very concerning over the last two weeks,” Rosas said. Not only did the 51-year-old Finch recently interview for the position,... [More]
Tue Feb 16 202120:10T-wolves: Russell to have knee surgery, miss 4-6 weeks
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and be sidelined for four to six weeks, the team announced Tuesday. Russell, who has missed the last three games due to soreness in his left leg, was diagnosed with a loose body in his knee. The procedure will take place Wednesday. Russell, who turns 25 next week, is averaging 19.3 points and 5.1 assists this season on 42.6% shooting. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft had quadriceps soreness in his right leg earlier that kept him out for four games. More than a calendar year after the Timberwolves acquired Russell in a trade with Golden State, pairing him with his pal Karl-Anthony Towns, the Russell-Towns duo has played in only five games together. Towns missed long stretches of time because of a wrist injury last season and this one. More recently, he was sidelined by COVID-19 for more than three weeks. ___ More AP NBA coverage: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Tue Nov 24 202021:02Wolves finalize deal with Knicks for veteran forward Davis
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired veteran forward Ed Davis from the New York Knicks for Jacob Evans III, Omari Spellman and a 2026 second-round draft pick in a trade finalized Tuesday. The 31-year-old Davis has played in 668 regular-season games, with 96 starts, for six NBA teams. He has averaged 6.3 points and 6.6 rebounds during his career. The 6-foot-9 Davis was drafted 13th overall in 2010 by the Toronto Raptors. He'll help fill an opening at power forward created by the departure of James Johnson in the draft-night deal that brought point guard Ricky Rubio back to the Timberwolves. Evans and Spellman played sparingly for Minnesota last season after coming with headliner D'Angelo Russell from Golden State in the trade that sent Andrew Wiggins to the Warriors. ___ More AP NBA coverage: https://apnews.com/NBA
