Taylor Teagarden (back) will see Dr. Andrew Dossett in Dallas for a second time before continuing his rehab at the Orioles' complex in Sarasota, Florida.
Teagarden visited Dossett last week, who confirmed the initial diagnosis of his lower back injury. The 28-year-old has already received three epidural injections and his return is not considered imminent.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday that Taylor Teagarden has slight tear in a ligament that supports a disk in his back.
Showalter said it sounds worse than it really is, but the injury could prevent him from being ready for Opening Day. The 28-year-old is scheduled to receive an epidural on Wednesday and will be shut down for another week. Ronny Paulino and John Hester, both non-roster players, are the favorites to fill in as the O's backup catcher if Teagarden starts the season on the disabled list.

Orioles acquired C Taylor Teagarden from the Rangers for RHP Randy Henry and a player to be named later.
Teagarden, who turns 28 later this month, has a .220/.286/.417 batting line over 392 plate appearances in the big leagues. While he wasn't really in the Rangers' plans anymore, he should do just fine as a backup to All-Star catcher Matt Wieters.

Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles have had talks with the Rangers about a trade for catcher Taylor Teagarden.
It makes sense, as he is out of options and O's manager Buck Showalter was with Texas when Teagarden was drafted. It would likely only take a minor leaguer or two to get a deal done. Teagarden, who turns 28 later this month, batted .235 (8-for-34) with two doubles and two RBI at the major league level this season. The O's view him as a backup for Matt Wieters.

He was cleared to make room for Darren O'Day on the active roster. Teagarden, 27, is batting .235 (8-for-34) with two doubles and two RBI with the big club this season. He'll return when rosters expand in September, which will allow Ron Washington to go with three catchers the rest of the way.
