Jerome Williams was hit on the right forearm by a line drive during a rehab start Sunday at Triple-A Salt Lake.
Williams had to be removed from the game. He wound up allowing six runs -- five earned -- over two innings, and seems likely to need a few more rehab outings before returning to the major leagues. He's been on the 15-day disabled list since June 19 with asthma issues.

Jerome Williams (chest) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Salt Lake.
Williams is scheduled to throw around 75 pitches or five innings. He's expected to make at least two rehab starts, which could push his return past the All-Star break. Garrett Richards will continue to hold down the fifth spot in the rotation for now.

Fri Jun 29 201211:11Jerome Williams nearing rehab assignment
Jerome Williams (chest) could begin a rehab assignment within the next few days.
Williams threw another successful bullpen session Thursday. He'll need a couple rehab starts before returning, "just to make sure he comes out of it fine and is feeling good," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. It's not clear yet what role he'll return in, but it's hard to imagine Garrett Richards being removed from the rotation.

Sun Jun 24 201214:37Jerome Williams throws bullpen session
Jerome Williams (chest) threw a successful bullpen session Saturday.
Good to hear. Williams appears to be back to normal after a scare last week when he collapsed in the clubhouse due to shortness of breath. He should be ready to return from the DL when eligible, but he might be moved to the bullpen.

Sat Jun 23 201209:23Williams (chest) will throw bullpen next week
Jerome Williams (chest) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session next week ''with no restrictions.''
Williams is eligible to come off the disabled list on July 4, but whether he returns to the starting rotation remains to be seen. Williams is out of options, so he'll likely be used in the bullpen if the Angels go with Garrett Richards as their fifth starter. Richards has given up just two earned runs in 21 innings this season.

Wed Jun 13 201201:08Williams gets pounded in 8th by Dodgers
Jerome Williams gave up five runs over 7 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Dodgers.
We have a hard time blaming Williams for his final line. The Angels sent him out for the eighth inning with a 2-1 lead. With two outs and a runner on first, Williams walked a batter and gave up a single. With the game tied, manager Mike Scioscia still didn't summon a reliever. Williams promptly served up a three-run homer to Juan Rivera that changed the complexion of the game. Even though his numbers were hurt by Scioscia's decision, Williams still holds a 4.20 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.

Sat Jun 2 201201:44Jerome Williams beats Rangers
Jerome Williams recorded his sixth win by holding the Rangers to two runs over seven innings on Friday.
Williams avenged his earlier shelling by the Rangers. That was an odd one anyway, since he came in as a reliever in the first inning after a long rain delay resulted in C.J. Wilson's short night. Strictly as far as starts, Williams has now turned in eight quality starts in a row. He's come up huge for the Angels thus far.

Thu May 17 201201:12Jerome Williams goes eight strong innings
Jerome Williams scattered two runs and 10 hits across eight innings of work on Wednesday evening, improving to 4-1 in Los Angeles' 7-2 win over the White Sox.
Williams struck out five and walked zero in tossing at least 6 2/3 innings for the sixth consecutive start. A sort of savior for the beleaguered Halos, Williams is now the owner of a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 31/11 K/BB ratio through 46 2/3 frames. He has a favorable matchup lined up for Monday, where the Angels will begin a three-game set with the A's in Oakland.

Sat May 12 201201:26Williams gives up six runs in relief
Jerome Williams was tagged for six runs over 6 2/3 innings Friday night against the Rangers.
Williams was originally scheduled to start Saturday's game, but he was asked to pitch in relief Friday after C.J. Wilson couldn't continue following a lengthy rain delay. He allowed 11 hits (including three home runs) while striking out three and walking two and saw his ERA jump to 4.19 on the year. Jered Weaver could move up a day in the rotation to start Saturday on regular rest, but the Angels may decide to make a roster move at some point this weekend.

Wed May 2 201201:18Angels' Williams gets first shutout since '03
Jerome Williams pitched a three-hitter Tuesday in a 4-0 win over the Twins.
Williams faced just 29 batters in his second career shutout and first complete game since July 7, 2003. His previous shutout came June 27, 2003 against the A's. Williams has now given the Angels three straight quality starts since a rough season debut against the Yankees. Things could get more difficult next week with the Blue Jays and Rangers on the schedule, so we don't suggest picking him up in mixed leagues.

Jerome Williams gave up five runs in 2 2/3 innings versus the Yankees in his season debut Sunday.
A tough assignment for Williams in his first start back from the DL. He'll get a few chances to secure his spot. If he continues to struggle, the Angels will give Garrett Richards a try.

Sat Apr 14 201217:07Williams off DL, to make season debut Sun.
Angels activated RHP Jerome Williams from the 15-day disabled list.
Williams beat out Garrett Richards to claim the fifth spot in the Angels rotation. He pitched very well in that role at the end of the 2011 season and could be a potential sleeper in deeper mixed leagues.
