Jerome Williams (hamstring) allowed two runs on five hits over five innings Thursday in a minor league rehab start with Class-A Inland Empire.

Tue Apr 3 201213:35Williams (hamstring) to make rehab start Thu.
Jerome Williams (hamstring) will make a minor league rehab start Thursday with Class-A Inland Empire.
Williams is currently working his way back from a left hamstring strain, but should be properly stretched out by the time the Angels need a fifth starter on April 15. There's still a chance that Garrett Richards may ultimately get the nod.

Mon Mar 26 201222:51Williams (hamstring) pitches in minors game
Jerome Williams (hamstring) made his spring debut Monday in a minor league exhibition game and tossed three scoreless innings.
Williams threw 41 pitches while giving up one hit, striking out four and walking one. Garrett Richards emerged as the favorite for the final spot in the starting rotation recently, but he gave up six runs -- four earned -- on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings on Monday. The Angels don't need a fifth starter for the first time until April 15 against the Yankees, so Williams still has enough time to get stretched out for the assignment.

Thu Mar 22 201212:41Williams (hammy) to throw off mound Thu.
Jerome Williams is scheduled to throw off a mound Thursday for the second time since suffering a strained left hamstring earlier this month.
If all goes well, he hopes to make his spring debut by Monday. The Angels don't need a fifth starter for the first time until April 15 and Williams believes he'll be ready by then. Garrett Richards, Trevor Bell and Eric Hurley are also in the mix for the final spot in the starting rotation.

Thu Mar 15 201216:54Jerome Williams (hammy) nearing debut
Jerome Williams (hamstring) is aiming to make his Cactus League debut at some point next week.
Williams has been sidelined for 13 days with a strained left hamstring. Fri Mar 9 201216:46Williams (hamstring) at least a week away
Jerome Williams (hamstring) won't be ready to pitch for at least another week.
Williams is still recovering from a mild strain of his left hamstring. Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said Friday that the southpaw will need at least four starts in order to take his first turn in the rotation on April 15, so he would likely have to be ready to pitch in a game by March 21. It's possible he could start out pitching on the minor league side.

Fri Mar 2 201217:48Halos' Williams (hamstring) likely needs MRI
Jerome Williams (hamstring) will likely require an MRI.
Williams felt tightness in his left hamstring Friday during a defensive drill. Nothing definitive was found by doctors, but he is scheduled to be re-examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum on Saturday. The 30-year-old right-hander is currently the favorite for the Angels' fifth starter job, but Garrett Richards, Trevor Bell or Brad Mills could step into the role if he misses significant time.

Fri Mar 2 201216:56Halos' Jerome Williams tweaks hamstring
Jerome Williams felt hamstring tightness Friday during a defensive drill.
Williams is being examined by doctors to determine the extent of the injury. The 30-year-old right-hander is the favorite for the fifth spot in the Angels' rotation after posting a 3.68 ERA and 28/15 K/BB ratio over 44 innings at the major league level last year.

Sun Feb 19 201218:42Scioscia: 5th SP job will be open competition
Angels manager Mike Scioscia called the fifth spot in the Angels' rotation an "open competition."
Jerome Williams, who is out of options, is the favorite to pitch behind Jered Weaver, Dan Haren, C.J. Wilson and Ervin Santana. But he has plenty of competition for the job. Prospect Garrett Richards posted a 5.79 ERA in 14 innings with the Angels last year, but he has a big arm and was 12-2 with a 3.15 ERA in Double-A. Trevor Bell, who made 19 appearances out of the 'pen in 2011 and lefty Brad Mills, who came over from Toronto in the Jeff Mathis trade, are also contenders, as are Eric Hurley and Matt Shoemaker, who signed minor league contracts this winter. The 30-year-old Williams came out of nowhere last season to post a 3.68 ERA and 28/15 K/BB ratio over 44 innings. He'll make $820,000 this year.

Mon Dec 12 201116:27Angels agree to one-year deal with Williams
Angels and RHP Jerome Williams avoided arbitration by agreeing on a one-year, $820,000 contract.
Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports that he could make an additional $120,000 based on incentives for appearances and games started. The 30-year-old right-hander came out of nowhere this past season to post a 3.68 ERA and 28/15 K/BB ratio over 44 innings at the big league level. He may have the inside track on the fifth spot in the rotation entering spring training.

Sun Sep 25 201121:52Williams has a chance at rotation spot in '12
Jerome Williams is the leading in-house candidate to take one of the rotation spots behind Jered Weaver, Dan Haren and Ervin Santana next year, according to MLB.com.
It's difficult to know what to make of Williams at this point. He's managed to go 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA in six starts and three relief appearances since returning to the majors, but he began the season playing in an independent league after spending last year in Taiwan. Williams was mediocre at Triple-A prior to his promotion. "As his career moves forward and we move into another year, there's no doubt that he's going to have an opportunity to pitch for us and even have a prominent role," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. Williams is arbitration-eligible next season. Tyler Chatwood and Garrett Richards are other candidates to fill rotation spots if Joel Pineiro isn't retained and the club doesn't acquire another starter.

Sun Sep 25 201100:46Jerome Williams goes to 4-0 for Halos
Jerome Williams improved to 4-0 by allowing one run in 6 1/3 innings Saturday against the A's.
Williams was hardly exceptional in Triple-A, but he's managed to go 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA in six starts and three relief appearances since returning to the majors. This was likely his last outing of the season, though it's possible the Angels could have him pitch in relief on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thu Sep 8 201100:30Williams downs M's with eight one-hit frames
Jerome Williams was brilliant against the Mariners on Wednesday, throwing eight innings of one-hit ball in a 3-1 Angels win at home.
Williams' one hit allowed was a sixth inning home run off the bat of Trayvon Robinson, and actually had him in line to take the loss before the Angels put up a three spot in the eighth. He struck out five and walked one. Now 3-0 with a 3.51 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 19/4 K/BB ratio through his first 25 2/3 innings of work this season, Williams is well worth a flier in deeper mixed leagues. He has a great matchup lined up for his next time out, where he'll take on the A's in Oakland.

Sat Sep 3 201111:23Jerome Williams likely to be skipped
Jerome Williams is expected to have his next turn in the rotation skipped.
With Jered Weaver being pushed back from Friday to Saturday in order to attend a funeral, that means Joel Pineiro will now go Sunday in Williams' place and Dan Haren and Ervin Santana can pitch on regular rest on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Williams has pitched relatively well in both of his starts, but this is the sensible move.

Wed Aug 31 201101:12Williams gives up four runs but earns the win
Jerome Williams gave up four runs to the Mariners over seven innings on Tuesday.
He still earned his second major league victory in almost six years. Williams struck out six and gave up seven hits and two walks. The 29-year-old journeyman has a 4.96 ERA despite advantageous matchups against the Mariners and the light-hitting Orioles in pitcher-friendly Anaheim. Avoid him in fantasy leagues.

Sun Aug 21 201119:42Jerome Williams thows a gem
Jerome Williams earned his first major league victory in almost six years on Sunday, limiting the Orioles to one earned run over seven innings.
Williams, 29, is a journeyman that found the good fortune of starting against the light-hitting Orioles in pitcher-friendly Anaheim Sunday. He struck out six, walked none and gave up just six hits, but we'd like to see him do it again before trusting him in fantasy leagues. This was Williams' first big league start since 2007 and he started this season with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League.

Fri Aug 19 201108:26Jerome Williams joins Halos rotation
Journeyman RHP Jerome Williams is taking the recently demoted Tyler Chatwood's place in the Angels rotation.
His first start will come on Sunday against the Orioles. Before throwing 2/3 of an inning in relief against the Rangers on Wednesday, Williams had not appeared in a major-league game since 2007 when he was a member of the Nationals. The owner of a career 4.25 ERA in 426 major-league innings, he posted a 3.91 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 60/15 K/BB ratio over 73 2/3 innings for Triple-A Salt Lake this season. He could be worth a look in AL-only leagues, though you'll likely want to wait a start or two before plugging him into your lineup.

Wed Aug 17 201118:27Angels add Jerome Williams
Angles purchased the contract of RHP Jerome Williams from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Williams hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2007, but he's registered a decent 3.91 ERA and 60/15 K/BB ratio in 73-plus innings this year at Triple-A and should do fine as a middle-to-long reliever for Anaheim.

Wed Aug 17 201115:25Angels to call up Jerome Williams
The Angels are expected to call up right-hander Jerome Williams from Triple-A Salt Lake.
He will presumably replace Trevor Bell, who was sent back to the minors following Tuesday's game. Williams, 29, hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2007 as a member of the Nationals. He has a 3.91 ERA and 60/15 K/BB ratio over 73 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. He isn't fantasy relevant.
