Fri Mar 1 2013 | 18:11 | Viciedo homers in loss to Indians |
Dayan Viciedo clubbed a solo homer in Friday's loss to the Indians. |
It was a long home run off Justin Masterson which went over the back wall at Goodyear Park. Viciedo doesn't have much plate discipline and won't be a good source for batting average, but he should provide cheap pop in the late rounds of mixed league drafts. |

Fri Feb 8 2013 | 08:39 | Dayan Viciedo to add leg kick? |
White Sox hitting coach Jeff Manto wants Dayan Viciedo to incorporate a small leg kick this season that he thinks will improve his timing at the plate. |
Manto believes Viciedo will really take off if he can tweak some things. ``He's going to get better once he gets the timing down,'' Manto said. ``That's what's scary about this guy: He didn't do a lot of things right, and he had those numbers. Once he calms himself down and understands what the pitchers are doing to him, he's going to be a big-time impact player." Viciedo hit .255 with 25 homers and 78 RBI last season but also had a 28/120 BB/K ratio. |

White Sox GM Rich Hahn made it clear at SoxFest on Friday that they haven't shopped outfielder Dayan Viciedo this offseason. |
Hahn added that while Viciedo hasn't been shopped, that no one on the team is untouchable. The 23-year-old Cuban outfielder had a breakout season offensively in 2012, hitting .255/.300/.444 with 25 homers and 78 RBI, and could be primed for an even bigger explosion in 2013. |

Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports that the White Sox are listening to offers for Dayan Viciedo and Alejando De Aza. |

Not surprisingly, the Mariners -- who have been connected to pretty much every hitter on the market -- have expressed interest in Viciedo, while the Reds are considering De Aza. Vicedo belted 25 homers in 2012 but also had an ugly 120/28 K/BB ratio. De Aza hit .281/.349/.410 with nine homers and 26 steals. |

Thu Nov 15 2012 | 21:03 | Dayan Viciedo won't move to third base |
The White Sox are unlikely to move Dayan Viciedo back to third base next season. |
Viciedo came up through the minors and broke into the majors as a third baseman, but the Sox are expected to keep him in the outfield even if they're unable to re-sign Kevin Youkilis. "I don't want to rule out anything because it's a week before Thanksgiving so it's foolish to close off any options,'' GM Rick Hahn said. "We're exploring a lot of options that we rank ahead of moving Viciedo from the outfield. He's fully capable. He's athletic enough to handle it but at the same time we've moved this kid around a lot. We've asked a lot of him in terms of the role he plays in our offense going forward. But at this time I don't think it's in his best interest. We're not going to rule it out but there are a lot of other options ahead of that.'' |

Tue Sep 25 2012 | 16:44 | Dayan Viciedo homers in loss |
Dayan Viciedo went 2-for-3 with a homer and then got removed for a pinch-hitter Tuesday against the Indians. |
Even though Viciedo homered in his previous at-bat, manager Robin Ventura opted to send up Dan Johnson in his place down a run with the bases empty in the ninth. It speaks to Viciedo's problems against righties; he entered the day with a .623 OPS versus righties, compared to a 1.003 OPS against lefties. Viciedo is just 23, so his 22-homer season doesn't rate as a disappointment. However, he's not exactly a quality regular just yet. |
