Fri Aug 20 202119:34Fernando Tatis Jr. Making Fifth Outfield Start Friday
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. will gain outfield eligibility in Yahoo leagues after Friday's game, as he is making his fifth start of the season in the outfield Friday night against the Phillies. Tatis will still require five more games played in the outfield before gaining eligibility in ESPN leagues. Over 91 games this season, Tatis is slashing .295/.374/.669 with 34 homers, 23 steals, 75 RBI and 83 runs scored. This positional flexibility will provide a boost to the already incredibly high value that Tatis has to offer. He'll start in center field tonight and is batting second in the order against Phillies starter Matt Moore.

Wed Aug 18 202101:58Fernando Tatis Jr. Refuses To Stop Hitting Home Runs
San Diego Padres shortstop/outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. has faced plenty of adversity this season, but he continues to knock the cover off the ball regardless. Tatis Jr. went 1-for-4 with his 34th home run of the year Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies, a solo shot off starting pitcher German Marquez. Tatis Jr. batted second and played right field in this contest, and he seems poised to gain outfield eligibility later this week. With a 1.523 OPS and four homers over his last seven games, the only thing that can slow Tatis Jr. down is injury.

Mon Aug 16 202101:43Fernando Tatis Jr. Goes Wild In Return From IL
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. had himself a field day in his first game back from the injured list Sunday, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, four RBI, and three runs scored. He batted leadoff and started in right field for the first time in his career. Tatis Jr. now has 33 home runs for the year, and the MVP award appears to be his to lose. Fantasy managers have now dodged multiple injury bullets with the young superstar, and the only drawback to rostering him at this point is the possibility of more missed time.

Sun Aug 15 202114:29Fernando Tatis Jr. Back Sunday, Playing Right Field
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) will be activated on Sunday and in the starting lineup, playing right field. He has been on the injured list since July 31. The move to the outfield is expected to keep Tatis Jr. healthy for the remainder of the year and keep Adam Frazier and Jake Cronenworth in the starting lineup. He has been an MVP-caliber player all season, slashing .290/.373/.647 with 31 HRs, 70 RBI, 79 runs, and 23 SBs. It's good news for fantasy managers, as he should continue being the impact player he was prior to the injury.

Wed Aug 11 202123:07Fernando Tatis Jr. Could Get Reps In Right Field
The San Diego Padres are considering trialing shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) in right field. Out since July 30 after partially dislocating his left shoulder for the fourth time, the Friars believe a positional move could preserve their star 22-year-old. Expected to return from the IL imminently, Tatis has looked natural practicing in the outfield but has also taken reps at short. The MVP candidate is slashing .292/.373/.651 with 31 homers, 23 steals and 148 runs-plus-RBI in 362 plate appearances and may return to game action this weekend against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Already peaking as a top fantasy performer, any additional versatility would only raise his ceiling further. The loser in this scenario is outfielder Wil Myers, who'd be reduced to a part-time role.

Wed Aug 11 202118:36Fernando Tatis Jr. Expected To Rejoin Team Over The Weekend
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the injured list over the weekend while the team is visiting the Arizona Diamondbacks, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Wednesday. Tatis Jr. has been sidelined since July 31 with left shoulder inflammation and has slowly been ramping up activities over the last week. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for the 22-year-old's return to the meat of San Diego's lineup, especially since he was slashing .316/.381/737 with two home runs, four RBI, and three runs scored on six hits in the seven games he played in prior to injury.

Mon Aug 9 202118:52Fernando Tatis Jr. Hits On Field, Continues Recovery
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) hit on the field on Monday for the first time since being placed on the 10-day injured list, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. Tatis Jr. has been sidelined since July 31 after he made an awkward slide into third base that resulted in left shoulder inflammation. Fantasy managers should be ecstatic the 22-year-old slugger is recovering so smoothly and should be on the lookout for when he and his .737 slugging percentage return to San Diego's lineup.

Fri Aug 6 202118:46Fernando Tatis Jr. Hitting In Batting Cage, Nearing Return
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) has been hitting in the batting cage and could start hitting on the field soon, manager Jayce Tingler told the press on Friday. The 22-year-old slugger was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 31 with left shoulder inflammation after he made an awkward slide into third base. Fantasy managers are no doubt happy to hear Tatis Jr. is improving nicely since that left shoulder has taken him out of the lineup twice this season. In his last seven games prior to injury, he hit a combined .316/.381/.737 with two home runs and four RBI on six hits.

Sat Jul 31 202119:05Fernando Tatis Jr. Placed On IL Saturday
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with left shoulder inflammation, the team announced on Twitter. Tatis exited Friday's game after suffering his second shoulder subluxation of the year while running on the base paths. It's the same shoulder that he injured earlier this year, which raised concerns that Tatis could see his season come to a premature close as a result of this issue. For now it appears that the team thinks he'll be able to return to action at some point, but there's no timetable for how long he'll be out. While Tatis is sidelined, expect Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim to see regular time at shortstop, as Cronenworth will get the start there on Saturday and is batting second against the Rockies.

Sat Jul 31 202110:14Fernando Tatis Jr. Diagnosed With Shoulder Subluxation
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) was diagnosed with left shoulder subluxation after he exited Friday's loss to the Rockies. The 22-year-old left during the first inning of Friday's game after re-aggravating a shoulder injury which caused him to spend 10 days on the injured list earlier in the season. "It's another subluxation for Tatis," said manager Jayce Tingler. The Padres manager compared Tatis' injury to the same injury he sustained in April. Tatis is considered day-to-day and will undergo additional tests on Saturday to determine the severity of the injury. Tatis has been excellent in 2021, slashing .288/.371/.646 with 31 homers, 70 RBI, 79 runs scored, and 23 stolen bases over 88 games in 2021. Stay tuned.

Sat Jul 31 202102:55Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [More]
