Wed Jun 29 201114:16Olivo (hamstring) going for MRI
The Mariners are sending Miguel Olivo (hamstring) for an MRI.
Olivo left Tuesday's game in the fourth inning with cramps in his right hamstring. They lost Chris Gimenez to an oblique injury during the same game, so their depth could really be tested if he requires a DL-stint. The Mariners added Josh Bard to the active roster for Wednesday's game.

Tue Jun 28 201123:35Olivo exits game with cramps
Miguel Olivo exited Tuesday's game against the Braves with cramps.
In other words, it could have been something much more serious. Olivo went to the clubhouse in order to get hydrated and treated, so we suspect he'll be just fine in the next day or so.

Tue Jun 28 201123:05Olivo exits game with apparent injury
Miguel Olivo left Tuesday's game against the Braves in the top of the fourth inning with an apparent injury.
The nature of the injury isn't exactly clear, but trainers were looking at his lower leg area in the dugout. This is just speculation, but Olivo may have tweaked something on his double in the bottom of the second inning. He was replaced by Chris Gimenez behind the plate. Stay tuned for an update on his status.

Wed Jun 22 201121:56Olivo picks up 35th RBI
Miguel Olivo went 2-for-4 with the Mariners' lone RBI in their loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.
Olivo's 35th RBI came on a fourth-inning single off John Lannan. With 11 home runs through 63 games played, Olivo's power has translated surprisingly well to the Mariners after he hit just .211 with a .598 OPS on the road as a member of the Rockies in 2010.

Thu Jun 9 201100:04Miguel Olivo has big night in 10-inning win
Miguel Olivo went 2-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBI in Seattle's 7-4, 10-inning win over the White Sox on Wednesday.
He tagged Jesse Crain for an eighth inning solo shot before untying a 4-4 game with a two-run double in the top of the 10th. Through 187 at-bats, Olivo has been surprisingly productive this season, and is now up to eight home runs and 30 RBI. He's definitely someone that should be owned in most mixed leagues.

Sun Jun 5 201120:01Olivo delivers game-winning bomb
Miguel Olivo beat the Rays with a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday.
With the score tied at six, Olivo took Joel Peralta yard to left field. It's his third straight day with a jack, proving he still has some power despite playing in cavernous Safeco Field. Owners desperate for pop at catcher could do worse.

Thu Apr 28 201116:41Tigers' Olivo hits second homer
Starting again in the cleanup spot, Miguel Olivo went 2-for-5 and hit his second homer in three days Thursday.
And he didn't need any help from Ryan Raburn on this one. Olivo went 7-for-13 in the sweep of the Tigers, raising his average from .164 to .230. It looks like he'll be a fixture in the cleanup spot for the Mariners for at least a couple of weeks.

Tue Apr 26 201121:59Olivo collects a pair of hits in win over DET
Miguel Olivo went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's victory over the Tigers.
The catcher, hitting about as poorly as anyone in baseball, hit cleanup on Tuesday and came through in a big way. He's still only hitting .185/.239/.262, but he has no competition for playing time in Seattle and AL-only players will have to hope that Tuesday's game becomes a slump-buster.

Sat Apr 23 201101:18Mariners' Olivo goes hitless
Miguel Olivo went 0-for-4 on Friday, dropping his average to .169.
With Adam Moore possibly done for the season, there's no one to threaten Olivo's current stranglehold on the catcher position for the Mariners. He'll get plenty of at-bats with which to work his way out of the slump.

Fri Mar 25 201111:24Olivo to return to Cactus League action Fri.
Miguel Olivo (groin) will return to Cactus League play Friday evening against the Dodgers.
Olivo has been limited for the past couple of weeks by a strained groin muscle. He caught three innings in a minor league game Wednesday, though, and played an entire minors tilt Thursday. The M's seem confident that he will be ready for the start of the regular season.

Wed Mar 23 201115:41Olivo (groin) catches in minor league game
Miguel Olivo (groin) caught three innings in a minor league game Wednesday.
It was Olivo's first game action since suffering a strained groin a little more than two weeks ago. He caught 60 pitches from Jason Vargas, including four that he blocked in the dirt. "I asked Jason to throw his breaking ball down, and he did and I blocked it," said Olivo, who also threw out a runner attempting to steal to an end. "I'd done it in the bullpens but I wanted to do it at game speed." Olivo is expected to play another minor league game as the designated hitter on Thursday. Barring any setbacks, there's a good chance he'll be there for the start of the season.

Miguel Olivo (groin) will catch three innings in a minor league game Wednesday.
Olivo has been sidelined for more than two weeks with a strained groin, but the Mariners are happy with his progress. "He's been doing fantastic, so that's a very positive step," said Mariners manager Eric Wedge. "If he can stick with his schedule, he'll be in line to break camp with us." We're expecting Olivo to be with the team on Opening Day, though Adam Moore could see more playing time until he's back to 100 percent.

Tue Mar 22 201106:16Olivo nearly recovered from groin strain
Miguel Olivo has nearly recovered from a groin strain that has kept him sidelined for two weeks.
Olivo has been running and throwing hard, catching bullpen sessions, and taking batting practice. "I'm ready now," Olivo said. "I can play now and the only thing I'm waiting for is the go-ahead to get into a spring training game." The Mariners are being cautious with their number one catcher. He likely will be ready to play on Opening Day.

Mon Mar 7 201112:27Miguel Olivo's MRI confirms strained groin
An MRI Sunday on Miguel Olivo's groin showed a strain.
Olivo was lifted from a game Saturday after suffering the injury and the MRI backed up the training staff's original diagnosis. He is probably going to sit out this entire week and may be at risk of opening the season on the disabled list. The M's are treading cautiously for now.

Miguel Olivo is being sent for an MRI after leavinng Saturday's game with a strained groin.
Adam Moore and Josh Bard would share time behind the plate if Olivo needed to miss the start of the season with the injury. Hopefully it won't prove that significant.

Mon Jan 3 201118:52M's finalize two-year deal with Miguel Olivo
Mariners signed C Miguel Olivo to a two-year, $7 million contract.
The agreement was reported almost four weeks ago, but was finally made official today. Olivo will take over as the primary catcher in Seattle, pushing 26-year-old Adam Moore to the backup role. The 32-ear-old batted .269/.315/.449 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI with the Rockies last season, but was awful after the All-Star break and is moving into a poor hitting environment. There are better options to be found behind the plate in fantasy leagues.
Thu Dec 9 201014:21Report: M's ink Olivo to two-year contract
According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Mariners have signed C Miguel Olivo to a two-year, $7 million contract.
The contract also includes an option for 2013, according to Morosi. Olivo, 32, batted .269/.315/.449 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI with the Rockies last season, but completely collapsed after the All-Star break. The Blue Jays, who traded for Olivo only to see him decline arbitration, will receive a supplemental draft pick in next year's draft.
