Schierholtz reported nothing more than a slight headache following the beaning, but the Giants will obviously take it easy with him. "Thank goodness I turned my head a little bit," said Schierholtz. The good news is that the medical staff was not concerned enough to give him an IMPACT test like they did with Aaron Rowand last month. Look for Schierholtz to return to the lineup shortly. | ||||||

It's his glove that has gotten Schierholtz a gig as the Giants' starting right fielder, but he can hit a little, particularly when it comes to singles and doubles. The homers and walks won't come in abundance, but he might bat .280 and drive in 70 runs if he gets 500 at-bats. | ||||||

John Bowker was anointed as the Astros' starting right fielder out of camp, but things have obviously changed. "Nate's finding ways to get his hits, and he's playing good defense out there," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy. "Johnny's going to get his time." Schierholtz, 26, is batting .320 in 25 at-bats this season while Bowker is hitting just .189 in 39 turns at the plate. | ||||||
