Wed Aug 10 201114:13Schierholtz out with hip flexor injury
Nate Schierholtz is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Pirates with a hip flexor injury.
That explains why Cody Ross and Aaron Rowand are in the lineup with right-hander Jeff Karstens on the hill for Pittsburgh. It's possible that Schierholtz could be available off the bench, but consider him day-to-day right now.

Tue Aug 9 201101:04Schierholtz has three-hit night in loss
Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with a double in San Francisco's loss to the Pirates on Monday.
The Giants could muster only six hits in a 5-0 setback. As for Schierholtz, the multi-hit effort was his first in 12 games. He's hitting just .244 with zero home runs and seven RBI in 22 games since the All-Star break.

Sun Jul 24 201102:16Nate Schierholtz doubles twice
Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI against the Brewers on Saturday.
Schierholtz will probably lose a lot of playing time if Carlos Beltran ends up in San Francisco, but he won't deserve to. He's hit .360 with three homers and 13 RBI this month, and he has his average up to .292 for the year.

Nate Schierholtz went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI against the Mets on Sunday night.
Schierholtz is on fire and trying to put the Carlos Beltran rumors to bed. He's hit .425 with three homers and eight RBI in 10 games this month.

Thu Jul 7 201102:18Schierholtz's second homer walks off Giants
Nate Schierholtz hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning before hitting another in the 14th on Wednesday evening, walking the Giants off to a 6-5 win over the Padres.
Schierholtz also doubled in the 12th. His first career multi-homer game brings his season total to six, while he's also sporting an impressive .278/.330/.440 triple slash through his first 227 plate appearances. He's a solid NL-only league option.

Tue Jun 28 201123:11Schierholtz goes 3-for-4 with a SB, 2 RBI
Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with a stolen base, a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.
His offensive production isn't anything special, but Schierholtz is considered the team's best defensive outfielder and one of its better clutch hitters. The 27-year-old is worth rostering in deeper NL-only leagues. He's hitting .267/.316/.415 thus far.

Sun Jun 19 201112:25Nate Schierholtz getting more playing time
Nate Schierholtz has started 13 of the Giants' 17 games in June.
His production at the plate -- .260/.299/.409 with four homers and four steals -- isn't anything special, but Schierholtz is considered the team's best defensive outfielder and has provided numerous big late-inning hits. The 27-year-old is worth rostering in deeper NL-only leagues.

Sat Jun 11 201102:26Nate Schierholtz contributes game-winner
Pinch-hitter Nate Schierholtz delivered a game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth as the Giants edged the Reds 3-2 on Friday.
Schierholtz sat against the left-handers, as he typically does, but he capitalized when he got his chance, coming through with his second game-winning hit of the season. He'll be back in the lineup Saturday despite his current 5-for-25 minislump.

Thu May 12 201118:39Nate Schierholtz goes 3-for-4 in win
Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and had a great outfield assist as part of Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Schierholtz is supposed to be less of a factor now that the Giants have Andres Torres back, but he's done pretty well in limited action, hitting .281 in 64 at-bats. He's never going to possess the bat one wants from a corner outfielder, but because he is a terrific defender in left or right, there should be a place for him in the majors for a long time. The Giants would have a bigger role for him if they could find a taker for Aaron Rowand.

Tue May 3 201122:47Schierholtz collects two hits and a homer
Nate Schierholtz went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Mets.
Schierholtz is now hitting .295/.311/.523 in 45 plate appearances. Maybe that'll be enough for the Giants to extract something for him from an interested club. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported last week that the Giants were letting teams know that Schierholtz was available, because he isn't going to have a roster spot once Andres Torres returns. The 27-year-old Schierholtz may be an attractive option for teams in desperate need of outfield depth.

Tue Apr 26 201109:29Giants willing to trade OF Nate Schierholtz
According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Giants are letting teams know that Nate Schierholtz is available.
Schierholtz isn't going to have a roster spot with the Giants once Andres Torres returns from his Achilles injury in about a week. The 27-year-old Schierholtz has batted just .226 with a .613 OPS through 31 plate appearances this season but may be an attractive option for teams in desperate need of outfield depth.

Sun Apr 10 201100:38Giants' Schierholtz goes 3-for-3
Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-3 with a triple off the bench Saturday after replacing an injured Andres Torres against the Cardinals.
The Giants went offense first instead, but they should have stuck Schierholtz in right field after Cody Ross went down in spring training. They could have still played Brandon Belt, and Aubrey Huff's defense likely would have been less of a nightmare in left field. Schierholtz isn't a legitimate starting outfielder because he can't do much more than hit singles, but he is a fine defender and he would have saved the team a few runs with his glove over the last eight games.

Mon Sep 6 201019:16Schierholtz's hit wins it for Giants
Nate Schierholtz delivered a two-run triple in the top of the 11th to propel the Giants to a 2-0 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Schierholtz was getting his second at-bat of the day after pinch-running for Pat Burrell, and he drove in his first two runs since way back on July 19. Of course, playing time has been a major issue since. With Burrell, Jose Guillen and now Cody Ross around, Schierholtz hasn't started a game since July 23.

Thu May 20 201019:48Schierholtz out Thursday with sore shoulder
Nate Schierholtz is unavailable Thursday due to a sore right shoulder.
The Giants sent the outfielder for an MRI after he complained of the soreness Wednesday. It revealed only a bruise, so Schierholtz should be back to right field in a day or two. He's hitting .298/.365/.423.
