TORONTO (AP) — Third baseman Josh Donaldson and the Toronto Blue Jays agreed to a $23 million contract Friday, the largest one-year deal for an arbitration-eligible player.The 32-year-old, a three-time All-Star, topped the $21,625,000, one-year deal covering 2018 agreed to last May by outfielder Bryce Harper and Washington.Donaldson, the 2015 AL MVP, got a $6 million raise after rebounding from an injury-slowed 2016 to hit .270 last season with 33 homers and 78 RBIs in 113 games. The sure-handed infielder missed time from April 14 through May 25 with a calf injury, which also hampered him during spring training.Donaldson was coming off a $28.65 million, two-year deal. RHP Aaron Sanchez (blister) was moved to the 60-day DL as a formality to get RHP Taylor Cole on Toronto's roster. Sanchez was limited to eight starts and was 1-3 with a 4.25 ERA. He was placed on the DL for a fourth time on July 22, two days after leaving a start against the Boston Red Sox in the fourth inning.

RHP Aaron Sanchez (right middle finger) is out for the season because of complications from a blister and split finger nail that put him on the disabled list four times this season. It was hoped that he could pitch out of the bullpen before the season ended but on Friday he was diagnosed with a tendon pulley injury in the finger that will require rest. Sanchez said the injury developed as a long-term result of the blister. Sanchez went on the DL for the final time this season July 20. Sanchez, who led the American League with a 3.00 ERA last season, was limited to eight starts this season and was 1-3 with a 4.25 ERA.

RHP Aaron Sanchez (right middle finger blister) will not pitch again this season, the club announced after the 8-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. The move was expected because Sanchez had been on the disabled list four times with the problem, which also involved such complications as a split finger nail. He has been on the DL since July 20.

RHP Aaron Sanchez (blister) will begin throwing off a mound in Baltimore this weekend, manager John Gibbons said. Sanchez has been limited most of the season, going 1-3 with a 4.25 ERA in eight starts (36 innings). Last year, Sanchez went 15-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 30 starts and made the All-Star Game.
