RHP Aaron Sanchez hasn't started throwing as he waits for a blood blister on his right middle finger to disappear. It's Sanchez's third trip to the DL this season because of the finger. He led the American League with a 3.00 ERA last season but is 0-1 with a 3.33 mark in just five starts this season. "It is what it is," Sanchez said Tuesday in Milwaukee where the Blue Jays were facing the Brewers. "It's been something that's bothered me, and if it's going to take 30 days to give me the answer for the rest of my career then so be it. I understand that our team's kind of struggling, and I want to be out there just as much as everybody else wants me out there. I've got to make sure that I'm healthy and I don't do something out there that will cause further injury. There's been issues with this where sometimes that's happened. I think everybody's on board. It's just making sure (the finger) is under control and there's nothing else that's going to come with this. It is what it is, but I have to make sure that it's healthy before I get back out there."

RHP Aaron Sanchez gave Toronto a solid effort in his second start from returning from the disabled list for a second time this season. "I thought today was a step in the right direction. I'm just a little frustrated," Sanchez said. RHP Aaron Sanchez (0-1, 2.95 ERA) should be ready for a full workload of pitches on Friday at Baltimore as he rebuilds his arm strength after two short stints on the disabled list. He allowed just one unearned run over five innings in a no-decision against Seattle last Sunday, throwing 78 pitches in his first outing since April 30. RHP Aaron Sanchez (split fingernail) was reinstated from the disabled list to start Sunday against the Seattle Mariners and RHP Leonel Campos was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo to make room for him. Sanchez developed a blister on his right middle finger in his start April 14 and was put on the disabled list. After part of the fingernail was cut away, he returned for a start on April 30 but lasted only one inning because the nail on the same finger had split. He returned to the DL. He allowed five hits, two walks and one earned run in five innings Sunday and did not factor in the decision in the 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners. He admitted there was some blood on the finger but dismissed it. "It's not an issue," he said. "There's no pain." He said that he tried to put the finger out of his mind. "I go back out there with the mindset as I would if there were no issues before. I felt if I went out there thinking about that I was already defeated. So, I went out there, just compete, attack and not even worry about what's going on with my finger, just go out until I reach my pitch count."

RHP Aaron Sanchez (split fingernail) will be activated from the disabled list Sunday to start the finale of the four-game series against the Seattle Mariners. A blister on the right middle finger and a broken fingernail on the same finger have limited him to one inning pitched since April 16 between stints on the DL. He first was put on the disabled list because of a blister on his right middle finger and part of the fingernail was cut away. He returned to make a start April 30 but lasted only one inning when the fingernail split. "That thing is so healed up now that you don't feel much," Sanchez said. "I think, for me, it's the freedom of not having to worry about it. There were so many times when I was out there, not wanting to throw (a curveball) because I didn't know if it was going to be an issue. Now, I can go out there and not even think about doing it. Doing it and doing it over again without any problems. I think that's what I'm most happy with." He is 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA in five career games (two starts) against the Mariners.

RHP Aaron Sanchez (right middle finger blister) returned to the 10-day disabled list Monday after being limited to one inning Sunday in his return from the DL. He had been out due to issues with the same nail. Manager John Gibbons said he does not think Sanchez will miss an extensive period of time and that Sanchez might pitch a few innings in rehab games with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League team when the Blue Jays visit Tampa Bay this weekend. Still, despite the optimism, Gibbons and the team won't rush him back. "We need to make sure (it's fully healed)," Gibbons said. "All indications were everything was good. Everybody thinks it shouldn't be very long anyway, but that's important to do."

RHP Aaron Sanchez (right middle finger blister) had his return from the disabled list Sunday limited to one inning because of a split nail on the right middle finger. He allowed one walk, had one strikeout and finished the inning with a double-play grounder in his first start since April 14. After going on the DL, he had a procedure in which some of the nail was removed. He said he first noticed it after a leadoff walk to Tampa Bay Rays LF Corey Dickerson. "I looked down and it was bleeding," he said. "I came in and I found my nail split the opposite way they cut it in the procedure. It's just one of those things, you know, you get something done and you have to adjust. ...I wouldn't have been out there if I thought it was something that was going to happen. So, I really didn't know coming in today that it was going to be an issue. I think once you get to game mode and game speed the pressure on that nail began to disperse to different areas, maybe it wasn't strong enough because it was cut. Honestly, we don't know, we just have to go from here." When asked if he would miss his next start, Sanchez said, "I hope not."
