Wed May 11 202212:46Austin Riley Loses Arbitration Case
Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley lost his salary arbitration case against the team on Wednesday. Riley will make $3.95 million this year instead of the $4.2 million he requested. The 25-year-old right-handed slugger is hitting only .237 (27-for-114), but he has given his fantasy managers a very respectable seven home runs, 14 RBI, 16 runs scored and one stolen base in his first 30 games this season. You shouldn't be expecting Riley to repeat his .303 batting average from a season ago, but he certainly has the potential to provide another 30-homer season.

The Atlanta Braves reinstated third baseman Austin Riley from the paternity list on Friday. Also, right-hander Jesse Chavez reported to the Braves and was added to the active roster after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs earlier this week. Riley ended up missing just one game for Atlanta, and he should be back in the starting lineup on Friday against Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers. The 25-year-old has been swinging a hot stick to begin the season, going 14-for-48 with two home runs, six RBI, eight runs scored and the first stolen base of his major league career in 13 games played. Wed Apr 20 202213:04Austin Riley Placed On Paternity List
The Atlanta Braves placed third baseman Austin Riley on the paternity list on Wednesday and recalled infielder Travis Demeritte from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Although Riley is hitting just .214 in the early going, he does have two home runs, four RBI and two multi-hit games in his last two contests, so he'll step away in the middle of a mini hot stretch. Riley has been playing third base regularly and hitting in the three-hole behind Ozzie Albies and Matt Olson. Fantasy managers will need to remove the 25-year-old from their daily lineups for the next couple of days. Expect Orlando Arcia to slot in at the hot corner for Atlanta until Riley is back from paternity leave.
