Morneau collected career hit number 1,500 with a solo homerun in the Rockies 5-1 win over the Cubs on Friday afternoon.
He did not start the game with a southpaw on the mound for Chicago, but entered the game later in a double switch. He was hit in the neck earlier this week, but that does not appear to be a concern and he should be safe to play in fantasy lineups going forward.
Fri Apr 10 201512:34Morneau not in lineup for Friday's game against Cubs
Morneau is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.
Morneau will get a day off as the Rockies face left-handed Travis Wood, allowing Nick Hundley to start at catcher, with Wilin Rosario handling first base. This probably has more to do with the matchup than the neck injury that bothered Morneau earlier in the week, given that the first baseman was often rested against lefties during his superb 2014 campaign. He finished 2014 with a .341/.389/.538 slash line against right-handers, compared to just .258/.292/.383 versus southpaws.
Wed Apr 8 201518:01Justin Morneau: (Neck) Late Addition Wednesday
Morneau (neck) was a late addition to the Rockies' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Morneau was initially listed as a scratch in favor of Wilin Rosario, but a successful batting cage session and a little convincing has resulted in a lineup change. He will play first base once again Wednesday and bat in his normal cleanup spot in the order after his neck scare Tuesday.

Morneau's (neck) swings in the batting cage went well and he expects to be in the lineup Wednesday, but nothing has been officially changed, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Morneau was initially out of the lineup against the Brewers, with Wilin Rosario set to take his place at first base. It appears a change may be on the horizon, but manager Walt Weiss has the final call on the situation.
Wed Apr 8 201517:15Morneau will hit in cage Wednesday to test neck
Morneau will hit in the cage Wednesday to test his neck, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
An errant throw hit Morneau in the neck as he was running the bases Tuesday and manager Walt Weiss promptly removed him from the game, pointing to Morneau's history of neck issues as the primary reason why. Morneau is being held out of the lineup Wednesday, and while he said he is OK, how the neck responds to hitting the cage will be telling as to the true extent of the issue.
Wed Apr 8 201516:44Morneau (neck) not in lineup Wednesday against Brewers
Morneau (neck) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Brewers, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Despite a report that Morneau was removed from Tuesday's game for precautionary reasons, he will sit out Wednesday's contest as well. It's unclear if the two are related, or if it's just a veteran receiving the day off, but his presence (or lack thereof) in Friday's lineup should clear things up a bit. Wilin Rosario will start at first base in his place Wednesday.

Manager Walt Weiss indicated Wednesday that Morneau (neck) was removed from Tuesday's game for precautionary reasons, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Morneau was hit in the neck by an errant throw, causing him to exit the game early. It's good news that nothing serious came of the issue, and he should be considered day-to-day, but it remains to be seen if he will be part of the lineup Wednesday.

Morneau left Tuesday's game prior to the ninth inning after getting hit in the neck by a pick-off attempt at third base during the seventh inning, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Prior to departing, Morneau had a visible welt on his neck from where he was hit by the ball and an abrasion on his face from hitting the ground. Daniel Descalso took over for Morneau at first base, while further details are expected to surface after Tuesday's game.
Mon Mar 23 201513:35Morneau will be back in lineup Monday
Morneau, who had been battling elbow tendinitis, will be back in the lineup Monday, the Denver Post's Nick Groke reports.
He will occupy the four hole in a loaded top half of the order for Colorado. Health will be a key factor in his production this season, but for now it seems like he is over the elbow issue and can be drafted with confidence.
Sun Sep 28 201414:50Morneau out of lineup Sunday against Dodgers
Morneau is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.
Morneau will have now sat for the final two games of the season, as the veteran has little left to play for with the Rockies long out of the playoff hunt. Ben Paulsen will get his 10th start of the season at first base in Morneau's stead.
Sat Sep 27 201418:37Morneau not in lineup for Saturday's game against Dodgers
Morneau is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.
Morneau will get the night off after starting the last four games. Michael Cuddyer will slide in from the outfield and cover first base for the Rockies on Saturday.

Morneau went 2-for-3 with his 17th homer of the season and two RBI in Friday's loss to the Dodgers.
With the two-hit performance, Morneau raised his season batting average to .319, keeping him narrowly ahead of the Pirates' Josh Harrison (.318) in the battle for the National League batting title. If Morneau is able to hold off Harrison, he'd become the second consecutive Colorado hitter to claim the title, after Michael Cuddyer achieved the feat in 2013.
Sun Sep 21 201413:54Morneau out of lineup Sunday against Diamondbacks
Morneau is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Continuing to lead the National League in batting, Morneau is probably just getting the day off. In a battle of improbable NL batting champions, Morneau has the smallest of leads over Josh Harrison, .318 to .317.

Morneau went 3-for-4 with six RBI and a pair of runs scored in a blowout win over the Dodgers.
As Morneau's battle for the NL batting title continues, the three-hit effort Wednesday could prove to be a big lift as he tries to stave off Pittsburgh's Josh Harrison during the final 10 days of the season. Morneau is now hitting .320 for the season, with a .363 OBP and .497 slugging percentage in his first campaign with Colorado.

Morneau (upper body) went 1-for-3 with two runs scored in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.
Morneau was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning, but that likely had more to do with the Dodgers owning an 11-3 lead than any concern about the upper-body injury that kept Morneau out the first two games. He was hit by a pitch in his last at-bat in the seventh inning, but still stayed on the field defensively for the final two frames.
Mon Sep 15 201417:20Justin Morneau: (Upper Body) Returns To Lineup
Morneau (upper body) is back in the Rockies' lineup Monday, batting third and playing first base, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports reports.
The only real thing Morneau has to play for this season is a shot at the National League batting title (he's currently batting .315), but that's more than enough for a player to try to battle through pain in meaningless games. He'll probably get a few days off over the final two weeks, but fantasy owners should certainly hold onto him and make sure he's in lineups Monday.
Sun Sep 14 201412:46Morneau (upper body) out of lineup Sunday against Cardinals
Morneau (upper body) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals.
Morneau will miss his second consecutive game after he was removed from Friday's contest due to incercostal soreness. It looks like Michael Cuddyer will serve as his primary replacement at first base while he remains sidelined.
Sat Sep 13 201415:12Morneau (upper body) out of lineup Saturday against Cardinals
Morneau (upper body) is out of the lineup Saturday against the Cardinals.
Intercostal soreness resulted in Morneau's early exit from Friday's game, and he'll sit Saturday as Ben Paulsen steps in at first base. The Cardinals are starting lefty Marco Gonzalez on Sunday, so the Rockies may very well just hold Morneau out through the weekend.
Fri Sep 12 201423:08Morneau left Friday's game with left intercostal soreness
Morneau left Friday's game with left intercostal soreness.
With Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) expected to remain on the disabled list until Monday, Ben Paulsen will take over the first base role. With the Rockies well out of playoff contention, they will be extra cautious with the 33-year-old, but he is in the hunt for a National League batting title over the final weeks of the season.
Mon Sep 8 201416:47Morneau out of lineup Monday against Mets
Morneau is out of the lineup Monday against the Mets.
With Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) returning from the disabled list Monday, the Rockies will ease him back into the fold at first base, where he won't be asked to track down fly balls as often as he would in the corner outfield. The day off shouldn't hurt Morneau too much, as the Rockies are set to face off against a left-hander anyway in the Mets' Jon Niese.
