Morneau is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres.
Wilin Rosario will take over at first base with left-hander Robbie Erlin toeing the rubber for San Diego. Morneau has fared well since his return earlier this month (.303/.395/.455), but figures to continue sitting whenever the Rockies face a lefty.

Morneau went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and a walk in a win over San Diego on Friday.
Morneau got his second triple in three games and that's a bit of a surprise as it's his first two of the season. The reigning NL batting champion may be a nice candidate to have a strong last couple weeks of the season and could be a nice pickup in leagues he was dropped. The lingering concussion issues will follow Morneau for the rest of his career, but when he's healthy, he's still a great hitter.
Mon Sep 14 201518:28Morneau out of Monday's lineup against Dodgers
Morneau is out of Monday's lineup against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.
Morneau will be protected from the left-handed Clayton Kershaw on Monday. In his place, the Rockies will turn to Wilin Rosario at first base, batting fifth.
Sat Sep 12 201517:07Morneau not in lineup for Saturday's game against Mariners
Morneau is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.
Morneau has gone just 6-for-23 (all singles) since his return and the Rockies are facing lefty Roenis Elias, so manager Walt Weiss will sit the 34-year-old even with the DH option available in Seattle. Wilin Rosario will man first base and bat fifth.
Thu Sep 10 201513:32Morneau out of lineup Thursday
Morneau is out of the lineup Thursday.
The veteran first baseman has started five of the last six games, but he will get a chance to rest in Thursday's day game. Ben Paulsen will get the start at first base and hit sixth Thursday.

Morneau has recorded three hits in 16 at-bats since returning from the disabled list Friday.
True to his word, Rockies manager Walt Weiss seems to have granted the everyday role at first base to Morneau, who has started at the position in four of his first five games back. The Rockies will probably look to rest Morneau against lefties or in day games after night games, with Ben Paulsen and Wilin Rosario set to see action in those scenarios.
Fri Sep 4 201516:45Morneau (neck) activated off DL and in lineup Friday
Morneau (neck) was activated off the DL and is in the lineup Friday, Dargan Southard of MLB.com reports.
Morneau has been out since the middle of May, but he'll get a chance to rejoin the club before the end of the season. He may not get the majority of the starts over Ben Paulsen at first base down the stretch, but manager Walt Weiss indicated that he would try to give Morneau somewhat regular at-bats as the season winds down.

The Colorado Rockies activated first baseman Justin Morneau from the 15-day disabled list after he recovered from a neck injury, and he is in the lineup Friday against the San Francisco Giants, according to MLB.com. Morneau has been sidelined since the middle of May, but he will start immediately upon activation, with Rockies manager Walt Weiss saying that Morneau has earned the right to play when healthy. "We have a lot of guys there, so we would have to mix and match," Weiss said. "But if (Morneau) is cleared to play, he's going to play. He's the consummate pro, and he's meant a lot to us during his two years here." Morneau has a .290/.317/.450 batting line with three home runs and nine RBI in 27 games this season, while the Rockies are in last place in the National League West with a 55-78 record.

Morneau (neck) rejoined the Rockies on Wednesday after completing his rehab assignment at Double-A New Britain, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Out since May 13 with a concussion and a cervical neck sprain, Morneau showed he was healthy during the five-game rehab stint, going 9-for-18 with two homers. While Morneau isn't part of the Rockies' plans heading into 2016, manager Walt Weiss indicated that the club owed it to the 34-year-old to give him steady at-bats, even if it came at the expense of Ben Paulsen and Wilin Rosario. The Rockies haven't formally activated Morneau from the 60-day DL yet, but that could come within the next few days as team doctors continue to conduct precautionary evaluations.

Colorado Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau, out since May with a concussion and neck injury, rejoined the team Wednesday but has not yet been activated from the 60-day disabled list, according to the Denver Post. Morneau (neck/concussion) will be evaluated later in the week as he continues to aim for a return before the end of the season, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
Morneau is currently on rehab at Double-A New Britain as he continues to work back from a cervical strain that's kept him on the shelf since May. The veteran is certainly not being rushed back by the team, but it looks as though he's determined to play again this season, despite Colorado being well out of contention in the NL.

Morneau (neck/concussion) has gone 4-for-9 with a double and a home run in his first three rehab games at Double-A New Britain.
The Rockies will reevaluate Morneau on Tuesday to check in on how he's progressing from a cervical strain that has kept him out for the majority of the season, but if his performance with New Britain is any indication, he's feeling just fine. Morneau should be activated from the 60-day DL at some point in September, though it's questionable that the Rockies would hand the soon-to-be free agent an everyday role while the non-contending team looks to evaluate some of their options under contract for 2016.

Morneau (neck) will start a rehab assignment at Double-A New Britain on Friday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Morneau, who has not played since May after suffering a concussion and neck sprain, is expected to remain on assignment for three days. He'll be re-evaluated Monday, and if all goes well over the weekend, he could finally be ready to make his return to Colorado for the final month of the season.

Colorado Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A New Britain on Friday as he recovers from a neck injury, according to the Denver Post. Morneau hasn't played since May 13 due to neck stiffness and post-concussion symptoms, but if his rehab assignment goes well he could rejoin the major league lineup when rosters expand in September.

Morneau (neck/concussion) took batting practice Friday, the Associated Press reports.
Morneau, who has been sidelined since May with a cervical strain along with concussion symptoms, is still aiming for a return later this season, but even if he continues to progress well within the next few days, he's likely multiple weeks away from playing again. The reigning NL batting champion will be a free agent at season's end and could very well hang up his cleats for good.

Morneau (concussion/neck) reiterated Monday that he plans to return this season and is not considering retirement, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Morneau has made minimal progress since suffering a concussion and neck sprain while diving for a groundball in a May 13 game, and there remains no definitive timetable for his return. At this stage in his recovery, he's been limited to hitting the ball of a tee in the batting cage, suggesting that he's probably at least multiple weeks away from a comeback. It's good to see that Morneau is maintaining some optimism about the situation, but because concussions cost him significant time in 2010 and 2011, his health is more fragile than most players coming off of head injuries. While Morneau has been out the last two months, the Rockies have employed a platoon primarily of Ben Paulsen and Wilin Rosario at first base, an arrangement that figures to continue for the foreseeable future.

Morneau (neck) was moved to the 60-day DL on Tuesday.
With Gonzalez Germen being claimed by the Rockies on Tuesday, the move will free up a spot on the 40-man roster. Morneau continues to work back from neck and concussion issues, and he's still without a return timetable.

Morneau and the Rockies are being careful with his recovery from neck and concussion issues, and he remains without a timetable for return, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Morneau was placed on the disabled list in mid-May after suffering from dizziness, which was the result of a sprained neck and concussion. His timetable remains unclear at this point, and it will continue to be difficult to determine until the veteran makes more progress.

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said Thursday was a good day for Morneau, the Denver Post's Nick Groke reports. "I cam away feeling a lot better about his situation," Weiss said.
Morneau has been doing cardio and neck strengthening over the last 10 days or so, and while he and the Rockies believe he will make it back this season, there is still no timetable for his return. Ben Paulsen and Wilin Rosario will continue to get starts at first base while Morneau tries to work back from this concussion.
