Juan Francisco launched his 12th home run of the season, helping to power the Brewers to a 2-0 victory over the Marlins on Friday.

Francisco finished the night 1-for-4. The only offense the Brewers could generate in the game came on a pair of solo homers from Francisco and Carlos Gomez. He's been an extremely welcomed addition since coming to Milwaukee, hitting .265 with seven homers and 16 RBI in his first 34 games.

It's a surprising move given that the Braves traded for Francisco a little over one year ago. The 25-year-old batted just .237/.281/.420 in 128 games with Atlanta, but he's young and has some pop which should lead to him drawing heavy interest on waivers. The Braves will start Chris Johnson at third base going forward.

The playing time has been good to Francisco, as he's now hitting .306 on the year with three home runs. As long as he's hot and getting consistent playing time against right-handed pitchers, ride the wave.

As the left-handed hitting part of the Braves' third base platoon, Francisco has gotten a lot of playing time early and has cashed in, hitting .321 after Wednesday's game. Francisco will continue to get the majority of the playing time at the hot corner against right-handed pitchers going forward.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Thursday that Juan Francisco and Chris Johnson will likely platoon at third base to start the season.

Gonzalez was hoping one of the duo would separate themselves during Grapefruit League play, but they've both played well, so he's not ready to name a starter. "I think both of those guys are playing such great baseball right now," Gonzalez said, "so it would be unfair to say (to one of them) you're the starter." Francisco will see more start as the left-handed bat and offers some power potential for fantasy owners.

With a .353 average and five homers, Francisco is outproducing Chris Johnson this spring, though both have been pretty good. We're hoping to see Francisco start against most right-handers early on, which would give him more fantasy value than Johnson. That's still to be determined, though.
