Sun Aug 8 201014:08Schumaker sitting again Sunday
Skip Schumaker (wrist) is out of the lineup again Sunday.
It's the third straight game he's missed with the wrist problem. Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said he hopes that giving Schumaker the series against the Marlins off will allow him to be ready for the important three-game slate with the Reds that begins Monday. Schumaker had a cortisone shot in the wrist Wednesday. "It could take one day. It could take three days," Schumaker said. "(The wrist) hasn't felt good for a while. Hopefully, this will help it." Aaron Miles received his third straight start at second Sunday with Schumaker out.

Sat Aug 7 201012:11Schumaker has dealt with wrist pain for weeks
Skip Schumaker has been dealing with irritation in his right wrist for several weeks now.
The second baseman was a late scratch from Friday's lineup after batting practice in an indoor cage Friday didn't go well. He received a shot in the wrist following Wednesday's game, but so far the pain hasn't abated. "(The situation) doesn't make me very happy," Schumaker said. "But it'll be all right."

Fri Aug 6 201018:21Schumaker scratched with sore wrist
Skip Schumaker was scratched from Friday's lineup with a sore left wrist.
He got a shot to help relieve some of the pain. Manager Tony La Russa says the injury is not too serious, though this isn't the first time Schumaker has had pain in the wrist. Consider him day-to-day for now. Aaron Miles took Schumaker's place at second base.

Mon Jul 26 201000:53Cards' Schumaker goes 4-for-4
Skip Schumaker went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI against the Cubs on Sunday night.
His first four-hit game of the season. Schumaker has been a major disappointment this year. Even after tonight's strong game, he's hitting just .262/.325/.341, and he committed his 13th error at second base tonight. The Cardinals still seem to like him anyway, but they'd be better off with Felipe Lopez at second base once David Freese returns.

Wed Jun 30 201018:11Cards' Schumaker swipes two bases
Skip Schumaker had two hits and two stolen bases against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
A rare nice fantasy day for Schumaker. The two steals today matched his total from his first 68 games of 2010, as well as his total in 153 games last season. He's hitting .263 with two homers and 19 RBI.
Wed May 12 201018:03Schumaker back to leadoff for Cardinals
Skip Schumaker is back in the leadoff spot Wednesday.
Schumaker was dropped in the order for Tuesday night's game against the Astros in favor of Colby Rasmus, who went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Unsurprisingly, it was a temporary change by manager Tony La Russa.

Wed May 12 201009:43Rasmus to leadoff spot not permanent
Skip Schumaker was dropped from the leadoff spot in favor of Colby Rasmus on Tuesday night, but Cardinals manager Tony La Russa indicated that the move will not be a permanent one.
"People (outside the clubhouse) can take whatever message they want. They misinterpret what you're trying to do all the time, whether they agree or don't agree," La Russa said. "It has everything to do with Schu understanding...it takes the burden away of him setting the table early. It's one less distraction for him while he gets going." Schumaker is batting just .218/.301/.277 on the year. Rasmus was 0-for-4 with a strikeout out of the leadoff spot on Tuesday.
