Fri Jun 1 201212:02Skip Schumaker placed on DL
Cardinals placed 2B-OF Skip Schumaker on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 31, with a right hamstring strain.
He has a Grade 1 strain, so it's possible he'll be ready to return by mid-June when he's first eligible. Shane Robinson and Adron Chambers will be the Cardinals' primary center fielders while Schumaker and Jon Jay (shoulder) are out, while Tyler Greene will continue to see the bulk of time at second base.

Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Skip Schumaker will be placed on the disabled list prior to Friday's game with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain.
It's the least severe of the three possible strains, so Schumaker shouldn't be out too terribly long. Shane Robinson and Adron Chambers will be the Cardinals' primary center fielders while Schumaker and Jon Jay (shoulder) are out, while Tyler Greene will continue to see the bulk of time at second base.

Wed May 30 201222:47Schumaker (hamstring) likely headed to DL
Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports that Skip Schumaker (hamstring) "did not sound optimistic" after Wednesday's game about avoiding the disabled list.
It's not clear when Schumaker injured himself, but clearly it's more than just a minor tweak. The Cardinals are really being tested by injuries, but they'll at least get Allen Craig (hamstring) back Friday. He seems likely to take Schumaker's spot on the roster.

Yet another injury for the Cardinals. We'll assume that he's day-to-day until further notice, but it seems doubtful that he'll be ready to play Friday after Thursday's off day.

Updating a previous item, Skip Schumaker had the wind knocked out of him after crashing into the center field wall Friday.
In other words, nothing serious. Schumaker made a leaping attempt on Alex Presley's fly ball and collided with the wall. Manager Mike Matheny made the decision to remove him from the game for precautionary reasons. This is good news for Schumaker, and he should be available for the rest of the series against the Pirates.

Fri Apr 20 201216:06Skip Schumaker starting in CF Friday
Skip Schumaker is starting in center field in place of Jon Jay (shoulder) Friday.
There had been some confusion about whether it would be Schumaker or Shane Robinson getting the call, but it appears as though Cardinals manager Mike Matheny has settled on Schumaker, who was just activated from the DL. Jay's shoulder injury appears to be improving, leading to optimism that he won't need a DL stint.
