Sat Apr 21 201218:27Humber pitches 19th perfect game in history
Phil Humber pitched the game of his life on his way into the record books on Saturday, retiring all 27 Mariners that he faced in order.
Humber was absolutely brilliant, striking out nine hitters in the process of achieving perfection. He only needed 96 pitches to get through the masterpiece, the last of which got Brendan Ryan on a check-swing, called third strike. This was the 19th perfect game in MLB history, and the first since Roy Halladay's effort against the Marlins in May of 2010. Humber now owns the third perfect game (18th no-hitter) in the proud history of the White Sox, joining Mark Buehrle (2009) and Charlie Robertson (1922). He improves to 1-0 on the season and owns a miniscule 0.63 ERA. Humber will likely attract a lot of attention when he takes on the Red Sox on Wednesday next week.

Mon Apr 16 201223:54Philip Humber solid in debut
Philip Humber pitched relatively well in his season debut Monday but picked up a no-decision, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles.
He struck out seven and was in line for the win before the bullpen blew up. The three walks weren't ideal, but Humber was about as good as could be expected given his long layoff. He has a nice matchup this weekend in Seattle.

Tue Apr 10 201217:37Humber to be skipped in White Sox rotation
Philip Humber will be skipped in the White Sox rotation.
Humber was supposed to start Tuesday against the Indians, but that game was rained out. Rather than let him start on Wednesday, the White Sox will keep John Danks on his regular schedule. It makes sense.

Mon Mar 5 201219:02Humber has successful spring debut
Philip Humber tossed two innings in his spring debut Monday, allowing one run on one hit against the Dodgers.
He was scheduled to throw just one inning, but came out for the second after sending the Dodgers down in order in the first. Humber turned in a 5.87 Cactus League ERA last spring before going on to post a 3.75 mark in 163 regular-season frames.

Thu Mar 1 201215:31Humber to start Monday for White Sox
Phil Humber will start Monday's Cactus League opener against the Dodgers.
He is scheduled to throw one inning. Humber is assured of a rotation spot after posting a surprising 3.75 ERA and 116/41 K/BB ratio over 163 innings last season, but we wouldn't pay for a repeat in fantasy leagues.

Wed Sep 28 201118:04Philip Humber fans nine for White Sox
Philip Humber struck out nine while allowing one run and two hits in 6 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
That's a new high in strikeouts for him. Humber ends the year 9-9 with a 3.75 ERA in 162 innings. He'll probably be penciled in as the fourth or fifth starter in the White Sox rotation next spring, though that could depend on what happens with Chris Sale and free agent Mark Buehrle.

Thu Sep 22 201122:14Humber knocked around again
Philip Humber was knocked around again for a second straight start Thursday, giving up seven runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings in a loss to the Indians.
This comes on the heels of a start last week when the Royals touched him up for six runs - five earned. Dating back to before his time on the disabled list, Humber has allowed four or more runs in seven of his last nine starts, taking the luster off his good early-season pitching. Still the owner of a solid 3.86 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, his final start will come against the Blue Jays.

Fri Sep 16 201123:44Humber touched up
Phillip Humber was touched up by the Royals Friday, giving up six runs - five earned - on nine hits and two walks over six innings in a 7-6 loss.
A Juan Pierre fielding error in the first opened the door to two runs before Mike Moustakas got to Humber with a two-run blast in the fourth inning. Humber had been terrific in his two outings since returning from the disabled list, but he simply didn't have it in this one. The righty will bring a 3.59 ERA and 1.17 WHIP into next week's start against the Indians.

Sat Sep 3 201111:13Philip Humber activated
White Sox activated RHP Philip Humber from the 15-day disabled list.
Humber didn't pitch particularly well in his lone rehab start, but the important thing is that he's healthy. He'll rejoin the rotation for Monday's doubleheader and will likely eventually boot Zach Stewart to a long relief role. Humber was really struggling in recent outings before his injury and would be a dangerous fantasy proposition even against the Twins.

Tue Aug 30 201115:45Humber (face) to begin rehab assignment
Philip Humber (facial contusion) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.
Humber was struck near his right eye by a Kosuke Fukudome line drive back in mid-August. The right-hander did not suffer a concussion, nor facial fractures, and should be ready to return to the White Sox after one or two minor league rehab appearances.

Sat Aug 20 201122:03Humber (facial contusion) passing all tests
Philip Humber (facial contusion) has passed every test or exam "with flying colors," according to MLB.com.
"This little thing could have been ugly, been bad later," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "That's the reason we did it. He's being checked by the doctors. The great thing about all this -- he feels good, he doesn't feel great, but he feels good." The White Sox were initially hoping Humber could make his next scheduled start after taking a Kosuke Fukudome comebacker off the area above his right eye on Thursday, but have decided to play things safe with their 28-year-old right-hander. Zach Stewart is expected to take his place in the rotation.

White Sox placed RHP Philip Humber on the 15-day disabled list with a facial contusion.
The White Sox were initially hoping Humber could make his next scheduled start after taking a Kosuke Fukudome comebacker off the area above his right eye on Thursday, but have wisely decided to play things safe with their 28-year-old right-hander. Josh Kinney has taken his place on the roster, while Zach Stewart is expected to take his place in the rotation.

Fri Aug 19 201109:12Humber may make next start
Philip Humber may be able to make his next start after taking a Kosuke Fukudome comebacker off the area above his right eye on Thursday.
His next outing is currently scheduled for Wednesday against the Angels. Humber is said to be sporting a rather large bump, but appears to have avoided a concussion. However, it wouldn't be surprising if the white Sox opted to play things safe and give their 28-year-old righty a few extra days of rest. His status should be updated later today.

Thu Aug 18 201120:36Humber leaves after getting hit with liner
Philip Humber was removed from Thursday's game after being struck in the head by a line drive.
Humber was able to climb to his feet after getting knocked down by Kosuke Fukudome's comebacker and was showing no signs of dizziness, but the White Sox trainers decided to play it safe. Humber allowed three hits over 1 1/3 scoreless innings before exiting.

Sat Aug 6 201109:08Philip Humber struggling
Philip Humber is 0-4 with a 7.97 ERA over his last four starts.
Humber never has pitched more than 150 innings at any level as a pro, so he could be hitting a wall now at 124 innings. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen thinks Humber "threw the ball good" Thursday in his last start despite poor results. With Edwin Jackson no longer around, the Sox have to keep Humber in the rotation, so they'll need him to bounce back if they hope to have a shot in the AL Central.

Sun Jul 24 201111:41Philip Humber skipped
Philip Humber will have his next start skipped following Saturday's rainout.
The White Sox don't want John Danks to have to pitch on eight days' rest, so Humber will be used out of the bullpen until next weekend. Edwin Jackson was pushed back a day to Sunday, while Mark Buehrle will stay on turn Monday.

Thu Jul 14 201111:32Humber moves up in rotation
Phil Humber will move up in the rotation to start Sunday against the Tigers.
He'll take the place of Jake Peavy, who was pushed back to Tuesday. Humber is coming off his worst start of the season last Thursday, when he was smoked for six runs on 11 hits over 3 2/3 innings by the Twins.

Thu Jul 7 201123:28Humber has worst start of season
Phil Humber labored through his worst start of the season Thursday, getting blasted by the Twins for six runs on 11 hits and a walk over just 3 2/3 innings.
Ouch. It's not as if the Twins were banging balls off and over the wall, as Danny Valencia had the only extra-base hit off Humber, and it was a double. But, balls kept finding holes as the Twinkies killed him softly. Humber has been unbelievably consistent this season, particularly for someone with his track record (or lack thereof), but things were bound to get rocky for him at some point. He concludes the first half with a 3.10 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.

Sat Jul 2 201119:26Humber excellent in win over Cubbies
Phil Humber spun seven shutout fames in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Cubs.
Humber allowed just five hits, three of which never left the infield. He fanned four, walked three (one intentional), hit a batter and threw a wild pitch. While his luck is bound to run out eventually, the 2004 first-round pick is now 8-4 with a remarkable 2.69 ERA this season. He'll go for win No. 9 in his final start before the All-Star break next week against the Twins.

Sun Jun 19 201120:09Humber's domination continues
Philip Humber continued to dominate Sunday by yielding just two earned runs over 7 2/3 innings in a win over the Diamondbacks.
Humber is now riding a five-game winning streak after striking out five and walking one today. He has gone at least seven innings in six straight starts and boasts a 0.98 WHIP on the season. There's no reason to think Humber will cool off, especially with the Nats on deck.
