Sun Jun 12 201118:38Humber continues to impress
Philip Humber picked up another win Sunday by limiting the Athletics to three earned runs over seven innings.
Humber struck out seven, walked two and gave up just four hits. It's the fifth straight game that he has gone at least seven innings and he hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in nine of his 11 starts on the season. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2004 draft has turned himself into a must-start every time out in fantasy.

Tue Jun 7 201122:43Humber tosses 7 2/3 innings of 1-run ball
Philip Humber was impressive once again Tuesday, holding the Mariners to just five hits and one run over 7 2/3 innings of work in Chicago's 5-1 victory.
He's now 5-3 with a 2.87 ERA, garnering some All-Star Game speculation. Humber is probably due for a blow-up, but he's posted a spectacular 0.98 WHIP and 43/17 K/BB rate through 75 1/3 innings. He'll take on his former team, the Twins, on Tuesday.

Tue May 31 201122:04Humber earns fourth win by defeating Red Sox
Phil Humber pitched well enough to win Tuesday, limiting the Red Sox to four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five over 7 2/3 innings in victory.
The White Sox are expected to abandon their six-man rotation soon, but Humber, by far the least accomplished of the group, is making the decision of who to kick out difficult. He improved to 4-3 on Tuesday to go with a 3.06 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. He boasts the lowest ERA among White Sox starters but could still be the odd-man out if the club decides to whittle down the rotation.

Thu May 26 201122:31Humber pitches well, White Sox beat Jays
Phil Humber allowed just one run in 7 2/3 innings Thursday as the White Sox topped the Blue Jays.
Humber was stuck with a no-decision because the game wasn't decided until the 13th inning. He allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out three. The right-hander will take a 2.85 ERA and 0.93 WHIP into his next outing vs. the Red Sox. He's probably due for a blow-up.

Tue May 17 201118:56Humber to start Friday vs. Dodgers
The White Sox have pushed Phil Humber's next scheduled start to Friday against the Dodgers.
He was originally scheduled to start Thursday, but the White Sox have swapped him with Gavin Floyd. Humber has a 3.18 ERA and 26/11 K/BB ratio over his first 45 1/3 innings this season and is worth using in AL-only leagues.

Sat May 14 201100:37Phil Humber beats Athletics
Phil Humber yielded three runs in six-plus innings Friday in a win over the A's.
Humber took a shutout into the seventh, when he gave up four straight singles. He left with two runs in and runners on first and third in a 4-2 game. Jesse Crain allowed a sac fly to make it 4-3, but he got out of the jam from there by picking David DeJesus off first to end the frame. It's the fourth straight quality start for Humber, who moved to 3-3 with a 3.18 ERA. We still think he'll be bounced from the White Sox rotation at some point, but he's fine to use in AL-only leagues for now.

Thu May 12 201110:17White Sox to go with six-man rotation
The White Sox will indeed go with a six-man rotation moving forward.
They're just not willing to remove Philip Humber from the starting five after he's posted a 2.97 ERA in his first eight outings -- six starts. Although manager Ozzie Guillen has already mapped out his starters for the next 20 games, we don't expect this to last over the long haul, as injury or ineffectiveness is sure to interfere at some point. For now, though it's a slight hit to each pitcher's value, as they'll obviously be pitching less often. But, they could ultimately pitch better in the arrangement, negating the difference.

Sat Apr 30 201122:05Humber allows two runs in loss to Orioles
Philip Humber allowed two earned runs over seven innings Saturday as the White Sox fell to the Orioles.
Humber looked fairly sharp again, surrendering only three total hits while striking out five and issuing just a single walk. But the Chicago offense continued its slump and could only produce two runs to back him. Humber may lose his roster spot soon if Jake Peavy proves ready to return.

Mon Apr 25 201122:00Humber throws seven innings of one-hit ball
Phil Humber no-hit the Yankees for 6 1/3 innings on Monday evening, ultimately settling for a win and seven scoreless frames in a 2-0 White Sox victory.
Humber had the Yanks baffled all night until Alex Rodriguez hit a weak, but clean, single up the middle. Humber struck out five and walked two in posting his second quality start in four outings since joining the rotation, lowering his ERA to 3.20 in the process. Set to make at least a few more starts as Jake Peavy works his way back to full health, Humber is now officially worth a flier in all AL-only leagues after his impressive showing against one of the game's best offenses this evening.

Wed Apr 20 201121:28Humber allows four earned in loss to Rays
Philip Humber allowed four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Rays.
Humber fell to 1-2 on the year and has now looked shaky in two straight outings. He's going to continue to draw starts while Jake Peavy makes his way back from a lat problem, but Humber is not worth owning for fantasy purposes. He will face the Yankees next.

Fri Apr 15 201123:43Humber can't keep it going against Angels
Philip Humber got tagged for six hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings of work in Chicago's loss to the Angels on Friday.
Jake Peavy's fill-in wasn't as good as he was his last time out, but still gave the White Sox a chance to win, which is really all you can ask of a spot-starter. If Humber gets another start, which seems likely, it will come next week against a Rays team he held to four hits and one run in six innings on April 9.

Mon Apr 11 201117:22Humber to start Friday vs. Angels
Phil Humber will remain in the starting rotation and start Friday's game against the Angels.
The White Sox had the choice to skip Humber because of Thursday's scheduled off-day. They were convinced otherwise after Humber tossed six innings of one-run ball against the Rays on Saturday. The Rays are hardly a juggernaut offensively right now, so Humber doesn't come recommended as a fantasy option.

Sat Apr 9 201119:41Humber silences Rays
Philip Humber was impressive in his first start of the season on Saturday, holding the Rays to just four hits and one run over six innings of work in Chicago's 4-2 victory.
Of course, pitching against the Rays can make a lot of players look good, but Humber certainly ensured that he'll get at least one more start during Jake Peavy's stay on the disabled list. That outing could apparently come on April 19, when the White Sox will again face the Rays, only this time in Tampa Bay.

Fri Apr 1 201108:54Humber to make just 2 starts before April 19
Because of off days, the White Sox will need Philip Humber to start just twice over the next 19 days -- once on April 9 and again on April 19.
He'll be used as a long man out of the bullpen when available during that stretch. It's possible those could be the only two starts he makes, as Jake Peavy (shoulder) is aiming for a late April return. Humber can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Thu Mar 24 201119:04Philip Humber labors through 4 1/3
Philip Humber labored through 4 1/3 innings Thursday, giving up seven runs on five hits and four walks against the Cubs.
He struck out four and also threw a wild pitch. Humber, who now has a 5.87 ERA this spring, is slated to fill in for Jake Peavy in the White Sox rotation for likely most of April. The 28-year-old shouldn't draw any attention in fantasy circles.

Tue Jan 18 201115:11White Sox claim Philip Humber off waivers
White Sox claimed RHP Philip Humber off waivers from the Athletics.
Humber was designated for assignment by the Royals in mid-December, picked up by the A's a few days later, and then designated for assignment by Oakland 10 days ago. He should find a home in the White Sox organization, probably at Triple-A. The righty has a 5.26 career big league ERA.

Sat Jan 8 201114:25A's designate Humber for assignment
The Atheltics designated RHP Philip Humber for assignment.
He was cleared in order to make room for Guillermo Moscoso, who was acquired from the Rangers in exchange for minor league right-hander Ryan Kelly. The once highly-touted Met prospect has pitched to a career 5.26 ERA over over 26 appearances over parts of five seasons in the bigs. The A's were the 28-year old's fourth organization, though he never made an appearance with the club.
Fri Dec 17 201013:54A's claim Humber off waivers from Royals
Athletics claimed RHP Philip Humber off waivers from the Royals.
Humber, a former first-round pick, was designated for assignment by Kansas City earlier this week. He finished with a decent 4.15 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 2010 at the big league level and may climb his way to the majors next year as an Athletic if things go well at spring training.
Wed Dec 15 201017:54Royals DFA righty Philip Humber
Royals designated RHP Philip Humber for assignment.
The Royals had to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for recently-signed outfielder Jeff Francoeur. Humber, 27, posted a decent 4.15 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 2010, but he carries an ugly 5.26 career ERA.
Sat Sep 4 201010:28Humber will get more high-leverage chances
Royals manager Ned Yost said he will start using Philip Humber in more high-leverage situations out of the bullpen.
Humber has thrown 7 2/3 scoreless innings as a member of the Royals bullpen. "We were saving him for extended innings because he can do it," Yost said. "But now, we're going to have more protection down there. So he'll probably move more into a sixth- or seventh-inning slot because he's producing with his opportunities. Every time we've sent him out there, he's got the job done. So we'll up his role a little bit."
