Thu Nov 11 201010:13Red Sox made run at David DeJesus
According to Alex Speier of WEEI.com, the Red Sox made a run at David DeJesus before he was traded to the Athletics.
Of course, the Red Sox had interest in DeJesus before his season-ending thumb injury in July, but a source tells Speier that talks were recently re-opened. Though they were unsuccessful in their efforts to land him, it shows that the Red Sox are considering all avenues to improve their outfield, not simply relying on the free agent market.

Wed Nov 10 201018:35A's get DeJesus from Royals for two pitchers
Athletics acquired OF David DeJesus from the Royals for RHP Vin Mazzaro and LHP Justin Marks.
As expected, the A's have dumped some of their starting pitching surplus in an effort to bolster what was a weak-hitting lineup in 2010. DeJesus turned in a solid .318/.384/.443 batting line with 23 doubles and five homers in just 352 at-bats for the Royals this year. He's one of the more underrated outfielders in baseball, both defensively and at the plate.

Mon Sep 13 201016:48Royals' DeJesus (thumb) now playing catch
David DeJesus (thumb) has begun playing catch.
"It's getting there, it's feeling good," DeJesus said. "The doctor said eight to 10 weeks and we're at week seven right now. So it's right on schedule." Still, the risk of re-injury looms and the out-of-contention Royals would be crazy to push him back. He shouldn't be counted on this year.

Royals transferred OF David DeJesus from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Fri Aug 13 201011:47DeJesus (thumb) rejoins team
David DeJesus (thumb) hasn't ruled out playing again this season.
"It just depends on how it feels," said DeJesus, who underwent surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb late last month. "I would like to go into the offseason knowing that it's 100 percent. Whether it's if I'm playing or not playing, I'm just going to let this thing heal. But I can't say either way right now." If DeJesus was to return, he'd have to do it without the benefit of a minor league rehab assignment. The Royals hold a $6 million option on DeJesus for next season or a $500,000 buyout.

Tue Jul 27 201010:08Royals want DeJesus to return this season
Royals manager Ned Yost confirmed Monday that the club will push David DeJesus (thumb) to return this season.
DeJesus underwent surgery Monday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb and has been given a 10-week timetable. Most out-of-contention teams would simply give him the rest of the year off, but Yost and Co. have other ideas. "We're going to push him and see if we can get (him back at) that 10-week mark just for his and our own peace of mind that he's going to be able to be full strength next year," said the Kansas City skipper.

Mon Jul 26 201022:16DeJesus undergoes thumb surgery
David DeJesus underwent successful surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb on Monday.
"Everything went good," said Royals manager Ned Yost. "The doctor got in and reattached it and said everything went great. He's still sticking by the 10-week thing, so that's good news for us. There were no complications." There's an outside chance DeJesus could return in September, but that all depends on his recovery.

Sat Jul 24 201009:24Giants about to land DeJesus before injury?
The Giants were reportedly very close to finalizing a deal for David DeJesus before the outfielder went down with a season-ending thumb injury.
Bummer for San Francisco, who is desperately looking to add some offensive punch. Perhaps now the team will increase their pursuit for Corey Hart, who they have been linked to often, or maybe even Jayson Werth.

Fri Jul 23 201016:27Royals' DeJesus out for season
David DeJesus will undergo season-ending surgery Monday for a torn ligament in his right thumb.
A major disappointment for a quality veteran possibly on his way to his best season. DeJesus had slumped of late, but he was still at .318/.384/.443 for the year. The injury could mean that Alex Gordon will spend the rest of the season as a regular.

Fri Jul 23 201011:25DeJesus (thumb) could miss up to six weeks
Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the best-case scenario is that David DeJesus (thumb) will miss two weeks, however he would be out for six weeks if he needs surgery.
Either way, he would be very unlikely to be traded this season. DeJesus' contract includes a $6 million option for next season, so the Royals could certainly consider trading him during the offseason, as well.

DeJesus was diagnosed with a severe sprain of his right thumb after colliding with the outfield wall Thursday night. He is headed to Cleveland on Friday in order to have the thumb examined by a hand specialist. "I want to find out 100 percent what it is," said DeJesus. "Right now, there's too much `it could be this' or `it could be that.' I want to know 100 percent what it is, and that's why I'm going to Cleveland." Friday figures to have a major impact on whether DeJesus will be traded before the deadline.

Thu Jul 22 201020:10DeJesus exits Thursday with wrist injury
David DeJesus left Thursday's game against the Yankees after suffering an apparent wrist injury in a collision with the outfield wall.
The injury allowed Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter to round the bases freely for an inside-the-park home run. DeJesus looked to be in a good deal of pain and any sort of fracture would put him out for a long while.
