Thu May 16 201300:20DeJesus homers, scores twice as Cubs beat Rox
David DeJesus went 2-for-3 with his fifth home run as the Cubs beat the Rockies on Wednesday.
DeJesus led off the game with the bomb, and he's now hitting a tidy .290/.362/.516 through 38 games. He's not the most exciting player in the game, but he's managed to score 24 runs hitting ahead of Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo in the Cubs lineup. The big fly was DeJesus' first this month.

Mon May 13 201312:08David DeJesus homerless so far this month
David DeJesus is homerless in 11 games this month.
DeJesus slugged four dingers in April, but that power outburst was not meant to last. The Cubs' center fielder has never registered more than 13 home runs in a season.

Fri Apr 12 201317:51David DeJesus hits first homer in win
David Dejesus went 3-for-5 with a homer and a double versus the Giants on Friday.
After a 2-for-21 start, Dejesus has gone 7-for-17 with three doubles and four runs scored in his last three games. With his lack of home run power and stolen base ability, he doesn't have a whole lot to offer fantasy leaguers. Still, he's a solid platoon guy for the Cubs.

Wed Apr 3 201315:14DeJesus not in Wednesday's lineup
David DeJesus is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Pirates.
Instead, Dave Sappelt will make the start in center field against Wandy Rodriguez. DeJesus has really struggled against left-handed pitching in recent years, so it appears that the Cubs will go with a platoon in center field in the early going.

Sun Sep 30 201219:22David DeJesus homers, doubles
David DeJesus homered and doubled Sunday in the win over the Diamondbacks.
DeJesus has seven homers in the last two months after hitting just two in the first four months. It looks like he's pretty well finished as a full-time player now -- he's hit .152 with no extra-base hits in 92 at-bats against lefties this season -- but he's still playing plenty well enough against righties to justify his $5 million salary.

Sat Sep 22 201216:49David DeJesus homers in loss to Cardinals
David DeJesus belted a solo home run off Adam Wainwright, but it wasn't enough to lead the Cubs to victory on Saturday afternoon in Chicago.
DeJesus finished the night 1-for-4. Not only has he provided a strong veteran presence in an extremely young Cubs' locker room, but he's also played fairly well this season, hitting .266/.354/.405 with eight homers, 72 runs scored, 49 RBI and seven stolen bases.

Thu Aug 30 201218:54Cubs rally to beat Brewers 12-11
David DeJesus went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two walks and three runs scored as the Cubs came from behind to beat the Brewers 12-11 on Thursday.
The Brewers were up 9-3 before the Cubs came back and scored six runs to tie it in the bottom of the sixth. Milwaukee then reclaimed the lead in the seventh and took an 11-9 lead into the bottom of the ninth, only to have Francisco Rodriguez take a blown save and a loss with John Axford unavailable. The Cubs scored 14 runs despite never homering. They had six doubles, a triple and a whopping 11 walks in the contest. DeJesus reached base five times after going 1-for-12 in the first three games of the series. It was just the Cubs' seventh win during August.

Wed Aug 15 201217:41David DeJesus goes 4-for-4, homers twice
David DeJesus went 4-for-4 with two homers and a walk as the Cubs topped the Astros 7-2 on Wednesday.
DeJesus doubled his homer total for the season today. His numbers as the Cubs' leadoff man would look quite a bit better if he never faced southpaws. He's hit .143 with no extra-base hits in 77 at-bats against left-handers this season, which is why he's been sitting against more of them as the year has gone on.

DeJesus laced a line drive single to center off Bronson Arroyo in the second inning, providing the only offense the Cubs were able to generate in the game. The veteran outfielder is having a decent season at the top of the Chicago lineup, hitting .263 with 30 RBI and 50 runs scored.

Tue Jun 19 201223:09DeJesus goes 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI
David DeJesus was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the White Sox.
Although he's always going to be a better player in actuality than in fantasy, Dejesus can be a usable player in deeper formats with his (usual) solid average and runs scored totals. DeJesus posted a great .317/.400/.495 slash line in May and is at .261/.362/.389 for the season through 226 at-bats.

DeJesus plated a run with a sixth-inning groundout before driving home two more with a ninth-inning double. Although DeJesus hit 317 .400 .495 in May, he's tallied just 16 RBI through Chicago's first 60 games. He's hitting .272/.370/.401.

Sat Jun 2 201222:04DeJesus homers in loss to Giants
David DeJesus blasted his second home run of the season, but it was all of the offense that the Cubs could muster in a loss to Matt Cain and the Giants on Saturday.
DeJesus finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk and his first stolen base of the season. He's now hitting .287 with two homers and 11 RBI, and has scored 29 times. He's provided a solid veteran presence at the top of the Cubs lineup and has played a good defensive right field. While he isn't a fantasy force, he can be a usable player in deeper formats with his solid average and runs scored totals.

Fri May 4 201217:56David DeJesus goes 3-for-4 for Cubs
David DeJesus went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and a walk versus the Dodgers in Friday's win.
DeJesus hasn't justified the Cubs' investment yet, but he'll likely be a decent enough right fielder in the end. Unfortunately, the power and speed numbers won't be there to make him very useful in fantasy leagues.

Mon Apr 16 201210:56DeJesus has .432 OBP through 10 games
David DeJesus is batting .300 with a .432 on-base percentage in his first 10 games with the Cubs.
DeJesus hasn't homered and doesn't have a stolen base (the kind of numbers fantasy owners like to focus on), but he's provided a steady presence at the top of the Cubs' lineup and should continue to do so all summer.

Thu Feb 23 201219:33DeJesus likely to lead off for Cubs
Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Thursday that David DeJesus is likely to lead off this season.
"Being realistic, I'll probably start with DeJesus leading off, (Bryan) LaHair hitting fourth, and right now after that I don't really know right now," Sveum said. "It might be (Alfonso) Soriano hitting fourth." DeJesus posted a disappointing .323 on-base percentage last year for the A's, but he owns a .356 career OBP and had a career-high .384 OBP in 2010 with the Royals.

Fri Dec 2 201112:58David DeJesus' hand bothered him in 2011
David DeJesus admitted that his surgically-repaired right hand bothered him at times during the 2011 season.
DeJesus said that while this past season was "tough," he's now ``100 percent'' and prepared to bounce back from the .240/.323/.376 batting line he produced with the A's. He's a .284/.356/.421 career and will turn just 32 next month, so there's certainly reason to believe he still has a few good years left in him.
