It would take maybe seven days. But we can't go with a short bench. I would be extremely upset if I'm not back the exact day and in the lineup. That's the goal." The move is retroactive to Thursday. Valencia was at it again on Saturday, going 1-for-6 with a three-run home run, a walk and two runs scored in a 7-5 win over the Mariners on Saturday.
Valencia now has two homers, five RBI and four runs scored over his last two games and he continues to be a beast for the A's. In 104 games played this season, Valencia has 18 home runs, 66 RBI and a .289 average. Most daily fantasy people think of Valencia as a lefty-masher, but his .901 OPS against righties and .801 OPS against lefties would say otherwise. Those numbers alone should earn him an everyday job next season with the A's and that should make him fantasy relevant for the first time in his career,

Valencia had a monstrous game on Friday, as he went 3-for-3 with two homers, a walk, and three RBI in a 4-3 win over the Astros.
It was shocking to see the Blue Jays designate Valencia for assignment in early August, so the A's came in and swooped him for the future. Valencia has put together a very nice season, as he has a .288 average to go along with 16 homers and 60 RBI in just 295 at-bats. Most fantasy circles think of Valencia as a lefty-killer, but he actually has better numbers off righties this season and he's shown his versatility all season long.

Valencia (shoulder) will return to the lineup Thursday and hit fouth, ESPN Chicago's Doug Padilla reports.
He missed two games with a shoulder issue, but will return to his advantageous spot in Oakland's lineup. Valencia had a really nice month or so, but his career numbers suggest he is better suited for the short side of a platoon long term, so it would not be surprising if he regressed over the final two weeks of the season.

Valencia (shoulder) remains out of the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox.
Stiffness in Valencia's trapezius muscle resulted in the 30-year-old's scratch from Tuesday's lineup, and he'll be forced to sit again Wednesday. Brett Lawrie will start again at third base, but look for Valencia to push Lawrie back to the keystone once healthy, while likely also returning to the cleanup spot in the batting order.
