Tue Aug 9 201121:26Rickie Weeks progressing well
Rickie Weeks is walking without pain and using resistance training to strengthen his sprained left ankle.
On Wednesday, Weeks will have missed two weeks of a projected 2-6 week timetable. Though he's doing well, he certainly doesn't seem close to returning. "They're very happy with his recovery so far," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "He's a very tough guy who can play with pain, but sometimes, with an ankle injury like he had, it's not a matter of how a tough a guys is. Those ligaments have to be right before he's able to go out there and do the things he wants, not just running straight, but cutting and stopping."

Rickie Weeks (ankle) is off crutches and has begun walking without a protective boot.
Weeks is refusing to talk to the media about the injury, but it sounds like the early progress has all been positive. "I was surprised," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "He looked good." The second baseman is not expected to return until late August.

Thu Jul 28 201111:32Brewers place Weeks (ankle) on disabled list
Brewers placed 2B Rickie Weeks on the 15-day disabled list with a severe left ankle sprain.
As expected. No surgery is needed, but Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash said Thursday morning that it is a "significant injury" and that Weeks could be out "anywhere from three to six weeks," depending on how quickly he recovers. You can bet the Brewers will be on the hunt for some infield help in the coming days.

Thu Jul 28 201111:06Rickie Weeks (ankle) out for 3-6 weeks
Rickie Weeks is expected to miss 3-6 weeks with a severe sprain of his left ankle.
The good news is that no surgery is needed, but this is still a severe blow for a team with designs on the postseason. The Brewers have Craig Counsell starting at second base on Thursday, but he is hitless over his last 38 at-bats. Brewers GM Doug Melvin is going to have to go out and get some help.

Wed Jul 27 201123:10Rickie Weeks (ankle) headed for disabled list
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Wednesday that Rickie Weeks (ankle) is headed for the disabled list.
Weeks was pulled from Wednesday night's game against the Cubs after suffering an ugly left ankle injury on a play at first base. Initial X-rays were negative, but the Brewers believe he may have suffered ligament damage and sent him to a local hospital to undergo a range of tests. More information should be made available on Thursday.

Wed Jul 27 201122:05Weeks could have ligament damage in ankle
Though an X-ray on Rickie Weeks' ankle came back negative, Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said there is concern that the second baseman might have a ligament sprain.
Uh oh. It's possible ligament damage could be as bad or even worse than a fracture would have been. But, it's just speculation at this point, so we'll wait until Weeks undergoes a battery of tests at a Milwaukee hospital. Obviously, it would be an enormous blow to the Brewers' playoff hopes if Weeks is sidelined for a significant amount of time.

Wed Jul 27 201120:44Rickie Weeks leaves game with ankle injury
Rickie Weeks left Wednesday's game in the second inning with a left ankle injury.
Weeks landed awkwardly on the first-base bag after beating out an infield single and had to be helped off the field. Replays showed that he badly turned the ankle and he was unable to put any weight on the foot while being escorted to the dugout. Hold your breath, Brewers fans.

Sun Jul 17 201100:53Rickie Weeks hits go-ahead homer in ninth
Batting fifth after the Brewers' lineup shakeup, Rickie Weeks went 2-for-5 with a homer Saturday against the Rockies.
The homer was a go-ahead blast off Huston Street in the top of the ninth. It was a two-run shot, making it 8-6, and the Brewers held on in the bottom of the ninth to win 8-7. We're not at all thrilled with the idea of Weeks hitting fifth for any length of time, but with the way things worked out tonight, he'll almost surely be back there on Sunday.

Rickie Weeks slugged a three-run homer in Thursday's 5-4 defeat of the visiting Reds.

Tue Jul 5 201120:04Rickie Weeks to take part in HR derby
Prince Fielder has tabbed teammate Rickie Weeks as one of the participants in the Home Run Derby.
Fielder and Weeks will be joined by Matt Kemp and Matt Holliday for the NL squad in the new team format this year. Lance Berkman, Jay Bruce and Mike Stanton, who did not make the team, have to be considered the "snubs" in the NL, though not everyone wants to take part in the competition. The AL's squad will be composed of team captain David Ortiz, Adrian Gonzalez, Jose Bautista and Robinson Cano. Curtis Granderson, Paul Konerko, Mark Reynolds and Nelson Cruz were options for the AL team, as was Mark Teixeira before he removed himself from consideration.

Rickie Weeks' fourth-inning double provided the Brewers with their lone hit in an 8-0 loss to the Braves on Wednesday.
He also walked in the ninth inning, and was the only Brewer to get on base as Tim Hudson faced just two over the minimum en route to his 12th career shutout. The double was Weeks' sixth of the season, giving him 13 extra-base hits through his first 28 games.

Sun Apr 24 201116:59Weeks homers and steals a base in return
Rickie Weeks' finger looked just fine on Sunday, as the Brewers' second baseman homered and stole a base in Milwaukee's 4-1 win over the Astros.
The homer was his fifth, but just his second since April 4. The stolen base was his second. Weeks is traditionally a pretty consistent player when healthy, so he shouldn't be expected to ever get into too deep a funk this season.

Sun Apr 24 201110:50Rickie Weeks back in lineup Sunday
Rickie Weeks (finger) is back in the lineup Sunday.
Weeks sat out a game with a sprained left pinkie finger, but it seems to have been as a precaution more than anything else. Feel free to return him to your active lineups.

Sun Apr 24 201109:04Rickie Weeks wanted to play Saturday
Rickie Weeks (finger) wanted to play Saturday but was talked into a day of rest by Brewers manager Ron Roenicke.
Weeks sprained his left pinkie finger Friday, but he was available to pinch-hit Saturday and should return to the lineup soon. "It takes some persuading (to get Weeks out of the lineup)," Roenicke said. "He went in the cage and swung some. It's still a little bit sore. He's a tough guy, and he'll play. But I told him I don't want him to alter the way he's going to hold the bat in his hand and then all of a sudden take a chance on his swing getting funny. I just think it's a better way to do this." Weeks could be back in the lineup Sunday.

Sat Apr 23 201115:29Rickie Weeks held out of Saturday's lineup
Rickie Weeks (finger) is not in Saturday's lineup.
Weeks sprained his left pinkie finger in Friday's contest and had to leave. At the moment, it seems like more of a day-to-day injury, but the Brewers haven't officially commented on it. We'll pass along more info once it's revealed.

Fri Apr 22 201123:16Rickie Weeks exits game with sprained finger
Rickie Weeks left Friday's game against the Astros with after six innings with a sprained left pinkie finger.
Weeks went 0-for-1 with two walks, a hit-by pitch, a stolen base and two runs scored before being replaced at second base by Craig Counsell in the top of the seventh inning. We'll likely know more about his status following the game, but it doesn't sound like he will need to miss much time.

Fri Apr 15 201122:27Weeks homers, doubles in loss
Rickie Weeks went 3-for-5 with a double, home run and two RBI on Friday, but it wasn't enough for the Brewers in their 10-inning loss to the Nationals.
Both the home run and RBI were his first since April 4. That's a very frustrating stretch for fantasy owners, but as long as Weeks stays healthy this season, he should provide plenty of run production.
