Wed Jul 31 201321:11Ross Ohlendorf not injured Wednesday
The Nationals have deemed Ross Ohlendorf uninjured after he left Wednesday's relief appearance.
Ohlendorf threw a season-high 114 pitches in a start last Friday and said he simply wasn't ready to appear in another game yet. He had been throwing in the mid-90s consistently but topped out at 86 mph Wednesday. "I just haven't quite recovered from my start," Ohlendorf said. "I'm fine. I just need another day. I could have kept pitching. I just wasn't throwing hard." It appears that the righty should be available in a few days.

Ross Ohlendorf fired seven innings of one-run ball Friday in a no-decision against the Mets.

Using an old-school delivery, he now has a 1.87 ERA and 29/8 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings of work since joining the Nats. It's safe to say that he has earned an extended opportunity in the starting rotation.

Thu Jun 6 201320:06Ross Ohlendorf won't be called up
Ross Ohlendorf will not be called up to start on Saturday following Thursday's rainout.
The Nationals can just push Gio Gonzalez and Nate Karns back a day. It makes sense, but it's a bummer for Ohlendorf, who would have been in line for a nice little bump in salary.

Wed Jun 5 201317:17Ohlendorf expected to fill in for Strasburg
Ross Ohlendorf is expected to replace Stephen Strasburg (lat) in the Nationals' starting rotation.
Strasburg was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with a Grade 1 lat strain and will miss at least one more turn (and probably two) in Washington's rotation. Ohlendorf, who signed a minor league contract with the Nats in January, has posted a 4.32 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 62/27 K/BB ratio across 66 2/3 innings this season at Triple-A Syracuse. He will not be a good fantasy option.

Ross Ohlendorf yielded eight runs in 2 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Giants.
One would imagine Ohlendorf's tenure in the San Diego rotation has come to an end. This is the third time in four outings that he's given up at least six runs without recording more than nine outs. He's 4-4 with a 7.58 ERA.

Wed Aug 8 201201:46Ohlendorf sails by Cubs in victory
Ross Ohlendorf surrendered two runs -- one earned -- on three hits six innings Tuesday in a victory over the Cubs.
He struck out three and walked a batter. Despite turning in three straight quality starts prior to his previous implosion, Ohlendorf still sits with a horrific 5.61. His strong evening -- against a terrible offense -- Tuesday shouldn't dissuade NL-only owners from ignoring him.

Thu Aug 2 201218:11Ross Ohlendorf gets lit up by Reds
Ross Ohlendorf was pounded for six runs in 1 2/3 innings by the Reds on Thursday.
Ohlendorf had turned in three straight quality starts, but two of those were in Petco and the other was in Miami; facing the Reds in Cincy was his toughest assignment so far and he flopped. It's doubtful that he'll be replaced right away, but he's not a good bet to last the final two months in the San Diego rotation.

Sun Jul 29 201204:09Ohlendorf solid again in losing effort
Ross Ohlendorf delivered his third straight quality start in Saturday's loss to the Marlins, allowing three runs on four hits over his six innings.
Ohlendorf fanned four while walking two in the game. The major blemish on his evening was Jose Reyes' two-run homer in the third inning, increasing the Marlins lead to 3-0 at the time. Though he's not a very attractive streaming option in most mixed leagues, he does hold some value if skimming his home starts. However, he's a difficult play in any format this week, taking on the Reds in Cincinnati on Thursday.

Sun Jul 22 201219:23Ross Ohlendorf quality at home
Ross Ohlendorf held the Rockies to two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings of Sunday's 3-2 victory.
Ohlendorf struck out six and walked two in a no-decision. The quality start was his second straight, though both have come at pitcher-friendly Petco Park against offenses that struggle on the road. Ohlendorf remains best avoided in a large majority of formats.

Wed Jul 18 201201:12Ohlendorf posts rare quality start in win
Ross Ohlendorf handcuffed the Astros Tuesday, allowing just one run on six hits and a walk over six innings in an 8-2 victory.
He struck out six and gave up six hits. For Ohlendorf, it was sweet revenge. In his last start, one June 25, Houston hung five runs on eight hits and four walks over just 3 2/3 against him. Ohlendorf was far better this time around in PETCO, but he should be avoided in fantasy leagues. Although he is somehow 3-0, Ohlendorf is allowing a .327 opponent's batting average while posting a 5.87 ERA and 1.87 WHIP.

Wed Jul 4 201220:55Ross Ohlendorf to start Sunday
Ross Ohlendorf will start Sunday against the Reds in place of the injured Andrew Cashner (lat).
He's really the only option the Padres have. Ohlendorf holds an ugly 7.31 ERA and 2.13 WHIP over five appearances -- two starts -- this season and should be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Tue Jun 26 201200:00Ohlendorf pummeled by Astros
Ross Ohlendorf was lit up by the Astros Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and four walks over just 3 2/3 innings before escaping with a no-decision in the 8-7 win.
He served up a pair of homers. That's now two straight duds for Ohlendorf, and he'd almost surely be booted from the rotation if the Pads weren't dealing with so many injuries. He still may, but if not, he'll face the Rockies this weekend in Denver.
