Sat Jun 16 201219:26Ohlendorf struggles in first Padres start
Ross Ohlendorf struggled in his first start for the Padres on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings of work.
He struck out three and walked two in the game. After cruising through the first three innings, he seemed to tire a bit in the fourth, giving up a solo shot to Seth Smith and an RBI single to Colin Cowgill. Jemile Weeks added an RBI double in the fifth inning, before Ohlendof left the game. While he isn't the most dominating pitcher in the league, as long as he's pitching at PetCo he should have mixed league value and makes for a decent spot play when he takes on the Mariners at home on Friday.

Sun Jun 10 201210:46Ross Ohlendorf likely to fill in in rotation
The Padres are likely to put Ross Ohlendorf in the rotation until Andrew Cashner is sufficiently stretched out in the minors.
Ohlendorf relieved Cashner Saturday, allowing just one run over 4 1/3 innings to pick up the win. He posted a 4.61 ERA over 10 starts with Triple-A Pawtucket in the Red Sox organization this season.

Mon Jun 4 201217:05Padres ink RHP Ohlendorf to one-year deal
Padres signed RHP Ross Ohlendorf to a one-year contract.
Ohlendorf recently opted out of his minor league deal with the Red Sox after posting a 4.61 ERA over 10 starts with Triple-A Pawtucket. The Padres are a logical destination, as they had interest in him over the winter and PETCO Park is a pretty good place to re-establish value. He'll likely join the starting rotation right away.

RHP Ross Ohlendorf opted out of his deal with the Boston Red Sox, becoming a Free Agent.
Ohlendorf was 4-3 with a 4.61 ERA over 10 starts for Triple-A Pawtucket. He should have no problem finding another opportunity, though he'll likely have to settle for another minor league deal to do so.

Red Sox reassigned RHP Ross Ohlendorf to minor league camp.
Ohlendorf got a late start this spring and was never a legitimate threat for one of the final two rotation spots. He'll serve as starting pitching depth with Triple-A Pawtucket.

Mon Mar 12 201217:06Ross Ohlendorf debuts for Red Sox
Ross Ohlendorf (back, shoulder) made his spring debut Monday by pitching two scoreless innings against the Marlins.
Ohlendorf is more of a project for the Red Sox than someone the team is counting on for Opening Day. He'll likely start off in Triple-A while the organization sorts through some of its other pitchers.

Fri Mar 9 201216:51Ohlendorf not expected to be ready for season
Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said Friday that Ross Ohlendorf is not a possibility for the start of the season.
Ohlendorf has fallen behind the other pitchers in camp due to a back sore back and concern over his past shoulder issues. He threw batting practice Thursday and hopes to pitch in a game early next week, but he may have to begin the season with Triple-A Pawtucket.

Wed Feb 29 201212:24Ohlendorf (back) to throw BP on Saturday
Ross Ohlendorf (back) has been cleared to throw batting practice Saturday for the first time this spring.
Ohlendorf is slightly behind some of the other pitchers in camp because of back tightness, but he has thrown three mound sessions. The 29-year-old was limited to eight starts last season due to shoulder problems and is a long shot to make the major league rotation.

Sun Feb 26 201209:19Ross Ohlendorf only a few days behind
Ross Ohlendorf has been nursing a sore back in camp but has started throwing in the bullpen.
He's considered only a few days behind the other pitchers, so, barring a setback, it doesn't sound like a big deal. Ohlendorf, who missed most of last season with shoulder issues, will try to win an Opening Day roster spot but might have to begin the year at Triple-A.

Tue Feb 21 201209:25Ohlendorf says shoulder is fine
Ross Ohlendorf said Tuesday that his shoulder is fine.
Ohlendorf is slightly behind the other pitchers in Red Sox camp because of back tightness, not anything having to do with his previous shoulder injuries. He developed the back discomfort while traveling to spring training and should get over it within the next couple of days.

Mon Feb 20 201216:30Ohlendorf (shoulder) behind other pitchers
Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) is not on the same pace as some of the other pitchers in Red Sox camp.
Ohlendorf has been bothered by shoulder injuries over the past two seasons, so the Red Sox are just playing it safe. The 29-year-old righty signed a minor league deal with the club last week and has an outside chance of winning a rotation spot.

Thu Feb 16 201209:10Red Sox ink Ross Ohlendorf to minors contract
Red Sox signed RHP Ross Ohlendorf to a minor league contract.
Ohlendorf arrived at Red Sox camp on Thursday morning. He has only an outside shot of making the Opening Day roster after registering an ugly 8.15 ERA and 1.94 WHIP in eight starts last season for the Pirates while fighting shoulder issues. The 29-year-old righty was released by Pittsburgh in December.

Thu Sep 29 201119:43Pirates expected to non-tender Ohlendorf
The Pirates are expected to non-tender Ross Ohlendorf.
Ohlendorf missed a majority of the 2011 season because of a shoulder injury and posted a hideous 8.15 ERA in the eight starts that he was healthy enough to make. The 29-year-old won't be much of a free agent prize.

Wed Sep 21 201119:18Ross Ohlendorf lit up for seven runs
Coming off his first win in a year, Ross Ohlendorf was pounded for seven runs in two-plus innings by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
He gave up three runs in the first and was pulled after allowing all four batters he faced in the third to reach. The three men he left on all came around to score as part of a five-run frame. Ohlendorf is now sporting an 8.29 ERA in eight starts, and he looks like a prime candidate to be non-tendered this winter.

Fri Sep 16 201101:35Ross Ohlendorf finally notches a victory
Ross Ohlendorf pitched seven innings of two-run ball and hit a three-run homer Thursday to beat the Dodgers for his first win of the year.
The horribly unlucky Ohlendorf took matters into his own hands in this one, hitting his first career homer to win for the second time in 33 starts dating back to 2009. Despite a 4.07 ERA, Ohlendorf went 1-11 in 21 starts last year. He was 0-2 with an 8.03 ERA in six starts this season. A terrible hitter even as far as pitchers go, he hadn't driven in a single run in 100 at-bats prior to taking Dana Eveland deep tonight.

Sun Sep 11 201110:46Ross Ohlendorf no lock to remain in rotation
Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said that while Ross Ohlendorf will make his next start, he's no lock to remain in the rotation for the rest of the season.
Ohlendorf holds an 8.44 ERA and 2.36 WHIP on the year and will need better results if he wants to stick among the starting five. "This isn't just carte blanche, you're going to get four or five more starts," Hurdle said. "We've got to see improvement. And he understands that."

Fri Sep 9 201122:37Ohlendorf blitzed again
Ross Ohlendorf got lit up by the Marlins on Friday, allowing six runs on 10 hits in just two innings of a Pirates loss.
Ohlendorf has now been lousy in all four of his starts since rejoining the Bucs rotation on August 23, posting an 8.44 ERA, 2.36 WHIP and 11/5 K/BB ratio in 16 innings. He's almost certainly pitching his way out of the Pirates' 2012 plans.

Ross Ohlendorf was charged with three runs over four-plus innings against the Cubs on Saturday afternoon.
He gave up seven hits while walking two, striking out two and hitting two batters. Ohlendorf was pulled with the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the fifth inning. He now has a 5.78 ERA over three starts since returning from the minors and has yet to complete seven innings. Fantasy owners are advised to look elsewhere down the stretch.

Mon Aug 29 201123:28Ross Ohlendorf solid over five frames
Ross Ohlendorf was solid over five innings Monday, allowing just two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six in a loss to the Astros.
It was surprising to see manager Clint Hurdle remove Ohlendorf after the big right-hander had thrown just 73 pitches and was in line for the win. It proved to be the wrong decision, as Jason Grilli, Jose Veras and Tony Watson proceeded to give up five runs over the next three innings. Despite tonight's solid effort, Ohlendorf can't be trusted this weekend in Chicago.
