Mon Nov 25 201319:36Dodgers officially sign Haren to 1-year deal
Dodgers signed SP Dan Haren to a one-year, $10 million contract.
Haren can also earn up to $3 million in potential incentives. The pact includes a player option in 2015 that will vest if the 33-year-old hurler reaches 180 innings pitched in 2014. This is a marriage of convenience, as Haren will look to get his career back on track in a pitcher-friendly ballpark after two consecutive injury-plagued seasons, and the deep-pocketed Dodgers fill their No. 5 rotation spot with a high-upside free agent without having to guarantee more than one season of salary. Keep in mind that this exact plan didn't end well for the Nationals, who paid $13 million for a 4.67 ERA in 2013.

Sun Nov 24 201322:07Dodgers agree to one-year deal with Dan Haren
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Dodgers agreed to terms with Dan Haren on a one-year, $10 million contract.
The deal is pending a physical, and also includes an option for 2015 that vests if the 33-year-old hurler reaches 180 innings pitched in 2014. Coming off of two extremely disappointing and injury plagued efforts, Haren will look to get his career back on track in the friendly confines of Dodger stadium.

Wed Nov 20 201313:18Dodgers have been in touch with Dan Haren
Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reports that the Dodgers have been in touch with Dan Haren's agent.
It's unclear whether it's just a matter of due diligence on the part of the Dodgers, but Saxon hears that there is mutual interest. Haren had a 4.67 ERA over 169 2/3 innings this past season, but resembled his old form after the All-Star break.

Mon Nov 18 201316:41Giants have checked in on Dan Haren
Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants checked in on Dan Haren, but that other teams are "far more aggressive" about signing him.
The Giants are in the market for another starting pitcher even after reportedly agreeing to a deal with Tim Hudson, but it appears that they'll be priced out on Haren. The 33-year-old posted a mediocre 4.67 ERA over 169 2/3 innings with the Nationals this past season, but he was much better during the second half.

Sat Nov 9 201310:33Dan Haren among many options for Yankees
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Yankees have already shown interest in several free agent starting pitchers including Dan Haren, Matt Garza, Ubaldo Jimenez, Bronson Arroyo and Scott Feldman.
They've also expressed a very strong desire to secure the rights to Masahiro Tanaka. With the departure of Andy Pettitte and the uncertainty around Hiroki Kuroda, there could be several openings in the Bombers rotation next season. The 33-year-old Haren is coming off a disappointing season with the Nationals in which he posted a 4.67 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 151/31 K/BB ratio over 169 2/3 innings. While his 3.67 xFIP hints that he pitched better than his ERA would indicate, he's posted extreme HR/9 rates higher than 1.43 in each of the past two seasons, which would certainly be a major concern with a move to Yankee Stadium.

Sat Sep 28 201322:54Dan Haren dominates D'Backs to earn 10th win
Dan Haren looked to be in vintage form on Saturday, spinning seven scoreless innings in a victory over the Diamondbacks.
Haren allowed just four hits and a walk on the night, while punching out five. The 33-year-old right-hander was a major disappointment in his first season with the Nationals, finishing with a 10-14 record, 4.67 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 151/31 K/BB ratio over 169 2/3 innings. Haren pitched his best baseball of the season in the month of September, which should help him immensely when generating interest on the free agent market this offseason.

Tue Sep 17 201316:27Dan Haren holds Braves to one run
Dan Haren limited the Braves to one run and three hits in six innings on Tuesday.
Haren didn't get the win for the effort, as the bullpen struggled behind him, but he did turn in a second straight strong outing for the resurgent Nationals. He's 1-0 with a save and a 1.20 ERA in 15 innings against the Braves this year.

Mon Sep 16 201315:04Braves vs. Nationals postponed after shooting
Monday night's game between the Nationals and Braves in Washington, D.C. has been postponed.
There was a mass shooting Monday morning at the U.S. Navy Yard, adjacent to the Nationals' home stadium, that left 12 people dead. Calling the game was the right decision, even if no threat remains in the area. Dan Haren was scheduled to pitch for the Nats and Mike Minor was on tap for the visiting Braves. There will be a split doubleheader on Tuesday.

Mon Sep 16 201311:19Nats told to avoid stadium following shooting
The Nationals and Braves have been told to stay away from Nationals Park in the wake of the shooting Monday morning at the nearby U.S. Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
The report from NBC News: "A gunman armed with a rifle and perhaps a handgun opened fire Monday inside a building at the Washington Navy Yard - killing at least four people and wounding at least six more, including a security guard and a city police officer, authorities said. SWAT officers swarmed the building, the headquarters of the Naval Sea Systems Command. The shooter was believed to be wounded, a source told NBC News, and crews were combing the facility to make sure there were no other gunmen." Dan Haren is scheduled to pitch for Washington and Mike Minor is on tap for the Braves, but Nationals Park is just blocks from the U.S. Navy Yard and shares the same metro stop. The game could very well be postponed.

Wed Sep 11 201322:55Haren blanks Mets over six, Nationals win 3-0
Dan Haren allowed just one hit over six innings as the Nationals downed the Mets 3-0 on Wednesday.
Coming off a start in which he lasted just three innings, Haren yielded just a leadoff single to Juan Lagares in the fourth inning over his six innings of work. The 32-year-old struck out eight in the outing, his highest total in a game since May 25. His assignment gets tougher his next time out when he takes on the Braves next week.

Fri Sep 6 201321:44Dan Haren knocked around in loss to Marlins
Dan Haren was knocked around in Friday's loss to the Marlins, surrendering five runs on six hits over just three innings of work.
Haren did manage to rack up five strikeouts while walking a pair in the abbreviated outing. The Marlins jumped on him early, scoring three times in the first inning, and added a pair in the third on a towering home run by Logan Morrison. The veteran right-hander continues to struggle, and will carry a troublesome 5.23 ERA and 1.31 WHIP into Wednesday's matchup against the Mets in New York. He's very difficult to trust in mixed leagues at this point.

Sat Aug 31 201322:43Haren allows seven runs over 2 2/3 innings
Dan Haren allowed seven runs over 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.
Haren has been very good for much of the second half, so Saturday was an uncharacteristic meltdown for the right-hander. He gave up nine hits and seven runs, striking out three. The loss was just his first since July 22. He'll have a good shot to get back in the groove Friday against the Marlins in Miami.

Mon Aug 26 201308:29Nationals want 'group of prospects' for Haren
Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Nationals want a "group of prospects" for Dan Haren, who cleared waivers earlier this month.
The Cardinals are among the teams with apparent interest in acquiring Haren, but it sounds like the price is sky high. Haren allowed four earned runs in a seven-inning start Sunday against the Royals but he boasts a 2.53 ERA and 54/11 K/BB ratio in 57 innings since the beginning of July. He'll be eligible for a trade until August 31.

Dan Haren allowed one run over six innings in the Nationals' 4-2 win over the Cubs on Tuesday.
After earning his first career save on Saturday, Haren returned to a more comfortable role Tuesday. The right-hander allowed just five hits while striking out six, giving up only a Brian Bogusevic home run in the outing. He's now rattled off four straight wins to move to 8-11 on the year. He'll attempt to move another step closer to .500 against the Royals in Kansas City on Sunday.

Sun Aug 18 201300:56Haren earns first career save, Nationals win
Dan Haren earned his first career save Saturday in the Nationals' defeat of the Braves.
Haren entered in the 15th inning when the Nats ran out of available relievers and allowed a single but struck out two in a scoreless frame. He was scheduled to start Tuesday and might now have to be pushed back. The right-hander has been good in any role as of late.

Thu Aug 15 201320:04Dan Haren pitches well in no-decision
Dan Haren deserved a win but got a no-decision Thursday, holding the Giants to one run over six innings in a loss.
Haren struck out three while surrendering just three hits and two walks. Brandon Belt's solo blast in the sixth inning was the lone mark against him. The right-hander has been terrific since returning form the disabled list, posting a 2.30 ERA over seven starts. He's reportedly cleared waivers, so it will be interesting to see if anyone takes a shot at trading for him.

Wed Aug 14 201321:34Dan Haren passes through waivers
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Dan Haren has cleared waivers.
It's no surprise, given his $13 million salary. Haren has pitched really well of late, though, posting a 2.43 ERA over six starts since returning from the disabled list, so it's possible someone might try to make a deal for him.

Fri Aug 9 201321:45Dan Haren dominant in victory over Phillies
Dan Haren yielded two runs over seven strong innings Friday in a 9-2 win over the Phillies.
Haren was in control throughout, limiting the Phillies to just four hits and no walks while strikeout seven batters. He now has a 2.43 ERA and 39/8 K/BB ratio 37 innings over six starts since returning from the disabled list. Seemingly healthy and keeping the ball in the ballpark, he's looking like a good option again in mixed fantasy leagues. Give him a try next week against the light-hitting Giants.

Thu Aug 8 201318:27Dan Haren placed on waivers
CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that the Nationals placed Dan Haren on waivers Thursday.
He's one of many that will go through the waiver process this month. Haren has mostly pitched well of late, but he's still owed just under $3.7 million for the remainder of the season, so it remains to be seen if anyone will be willing to pick up that price tag.
