Mon May 30 201115:08Beachy (oblique) throws off mound, feels good
Brandon Beachy threw off a mound Monday for the first time since straining his left oblique.
Beachy tossed 20 fastballs at about 70-75 percent effort. "Felt good," he said after the workout. "It loosened up. By the end of the 20 pitches I was going back to caring about where the ball is going instead of trying to feel each throw. So that was refreshing." He's at least two weeks away from returning to the Braves' rotation.

Fri May 27 201118:00Beachy (oblique) likely 3-4 weeks away
David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that Brandon Beachy is likely 3-4 weeks away from rejoining the Braves.
Beachy is progressing well from his oblique strain, but he still needs to rebuild his arm strength before making a couple minor league rehab starts. Mike Minor will continue to take his place in the starting rotation and is well worth a look in most fantasy formats.

Brandon Beachy (oblique) all but confirmed Saturday that he is headed to the disabled list.
"I wish I would have woke up this morning and it was better, but unfortunately it's not," Beachy said Saturday. "However long this keeps me out - I have no idea, hopefully not long - it's going to be a mental battle as much as it is physical, to get myself ready to go again." The Braves will wait until Sunday to make an official roster move, as Scott Proctor is expected to be called up from the minor leagues. Julio Teheran, Mike Minor or Rodrigo Lopez will replace him in the starting rotation.

Thu May 5 201122:11Brandon Beachy stellar again Thursday
Brandon Beachy turned in his fourth straight quality start Thursday, limiting the Brewers to an unearned run on four hits and a walk while striking out nine in the 2-1 win.
He walked away with a no-decision after exiting with the game tied, but it doesn't lessen what was another superb performance from Beachy. After giving up 10 earned runs in his first three outings, he's permitted just four in his last four while striking out over a batter per inning. Despite boasting just one win, he now holds a 2.98 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. Beachy's next start will come against the Nats.

Sat Apr 30 201116:31Beachy takes no-decision vs. Cardinals
Brandon Beachy gave up two runs over seven-plus innings, but was handed a no-decision in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals.
Beachy limited the Cardinals to only three hits while fanning five and walking one. He was pulled for Jonny Venters after allowing the first two hitters to reach in the top of the eighth inning, which led to a game-tying double by David Freese. Still, it was a solid outing for the young right-hander. He now has a 3.47 ERA and 36/10 K/BB ratio over his first six starts and is well worth using in mixed leagues at the moment.

Sun Apr 24 201121:17Beachy solid against the Giants
Brandon Beachy yielded two earned runs over six innings as part of a no-decision against the Giants Sunday.
Beachy was on, striking out seven while walking none. It's his second straight impressive outing and it's obvious he's holding off Mike Minor with ease for now. Beachy's 31 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings this season have him on the radar in deep leagues.

Wed Apr 20 201101:33Braves' Beachy beats Dodgers for first win
Brandon Beachy hurled six scoreless innings Tuesday in the Braves' 10-1 win over the Dodgers.
It was 2-1 until the ninth, when the Braves exploded for eight runs off Kenley Jansen and Ramon Troncoso. Beach struck out seven to pick up his first victory in seven major league starts. He entered with a 5.19 ERA in three starts this season.

Thu Apr 14 201122:30Brandon Beachy knocked around
Brandon Beachy surrendered five runs on seven hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings in Thursday's loss to the Marlins.
Beachy did strike out eight, so the outing wasn't a total loss. But, that's two straight less than stellar showings following a nice season debut. His leash isn't that long with Mike Minor waiting at Triple-A. Beachy will face the Dodgers the next time he toes the rubber.

Sat Apr 9 201116:01Beachy takes loss against Phillies
Brandon Beachy gave up four runs over six-plus innings in a loss to the Phillies on Saturday afternoon.
He wasn't nearly as impressive as he was against the Brewers earlier this week. Beachy allowed seven hits -- including a two-run homer to Brian Schneider -- while walking two and striking out two. The Phillies are swinging the bats well right now, so Beachy is a better play in mixed leagues with the Marlins on tap next week.

Mon Apr 4 201117:21Beachy fans seven betters, Braves top Brewers
Brandon Beachy struck out seven batters over six innings of one-run ball Monday as the Braves topped the Brewers 2-1.
Beachy was left with a no decision because the Atlanta offense didn't show up until the eighth inning, but it was an otherwise great day for the promising youngster. He allowed just four hits and made only one major mistake pitch that Rickie Weeks quickly drove out of the ballpark. Things get a little tougher next week against the Phillies, but Beachy is definitely worth keeping an eye on in mixed fantasy leagues.

Wed Mar 30 201115:50Braves' Beachy strikes out five
Brandon Beachy pitched four scoreless innings and struck out five Wednesday against the Twins.
We still think Mike Minor was the better choice for a rotation spot, but Beachy justified his selection by finishing the spring with a 0.90 ERA in 21 innings. He'll be a decent play in NL-only leagues.

Fri Mar 25 201120:52Beachy hurls six shutout frames vs. Tigers
Brandon Beachy hurled six scoreless frames in Friday's win over the Tigers.
The Braves' new fifth starter continues to dominate spring training competition. Beachy held the Tigers to just two hits while striking out six and walking one. He now has a 1.13 ERA and a 16/4 K/BB ratio over 16 innings this spring. While Beachy doesn't doesn't have as much upside as Mike Minor, he should still be plenty useful in NL-only and even some deeper mixed formats.
