Fri Apr 3 201512:29Burns likely to make Opening Day roster
Burns is likely to make the Opening Day roster, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Burns has had a fantastic spring, hitting .397 over 78 at-bats and leading the majors in spring hits. The injuries to Josh Reddick and Coco Crisp have allowed Burns to parlay that hot spring into a roster spot. It is unclear how much playing time Burns will get and whether he will go back to Triple-A once Josh Reddick returns in mid-April. If Burns can stick with the team and carve out some at-bats, he has massive stolen base upside, having swiped 128 bags in the minors over the last two years.

Burns had three more hits on Monday and is leading all of MLB with 27 hits this spring.
Burns will likely start the season in Triple-A, but does have a chance to break camp with the team if Coco Crisp is forced to start the season on the DL. Burns has made a great impression on the A's this spring and has drawn high praise from manager Bob Melvin. Burns could be up in the majors this summer if the A's suffer outfielder injuries or have under-performance from their center field platoon of Sam Fuld and Craig Gentry.

Burns has had a hot spring so far, hitting .385 with three triples and three steals over 39 at-bats.
Burns struggled in the minors in 2014, hitting only .237 combined between Double and Triple-A, but still managed to swipe 54 bags. Burns has an outside shot to make the A's Opening Day roster if another outfield injury were to occur, but the A's likely want Burns to get every day at-bats every day which would only happen in the minors. If Burns were to get called up and get regular at-bats, he will provide a good amount of fantasy value based on the huge stolen base upside.
Mon Sep 1 201413:22Burns recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday
Burns was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.
Burns was one of a handful of beneficiaries of roster expansion in September. He was called up to add depth in the outfield despite a lackluster season in the minors, batting just .250/.333/.330 at Double-A and .193/.254/.211 at Triple-A. Burns won't be an everyday starter, but may get a spot start here and there and will probably get opportunities to pinch hit off the bench.
Thu Jul 31 201413:56Billy Burns: Optioned To Triple-A on Thursday
Burns was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.
With the acquisition of Sam Fuld, Burns' time in the majors comes to a quick end. He will move to Triple-A and start and look to build on his 51 stolen bases so far this season in the minors.
Wed Jul 30 201421:02Burns made first major league start on Wednesday and 0-4
Burns made his first major league start on Wednesday and went 0-4.
Burns could be a big difference maker for fantasy teams in the stolen base category, but it sounds like he will only play against left handed starters right now and his stay with the team could be short-lived if Coco Crisp returns soon. In leagues with daily moves, he is a sneaky add right now for any team looking for cheap stolen bases.
