Shaun Marcum (elbow) threw 30 pitches in a simulated game Sunday.
"Came out good," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "(Pitching coach) Rick (Kranitz) was happy with the way the ball was coming out. Second inning was better than the first. I think he's ready to go." It was his first time throwing to hitters since being placed on the disabled list in June. Marcum will likely be sent out on a minor league rehab assignment which is expected to consist of at least two starts. He's eligible to be activated from the DL in about two weeks.

Shaun Marcum (elbow) is scheduled to throw 40 pitches in a simulated game Sunday.
It will be his first time throwing to hitters since being placed on the disabled list in June. If all goes well, he'll be sent out on a minor league rehab assignment which is expected to consist of at least two starts. The timeline is obviously subject to change, but he's likely looking at a return in late August if all goes according to plan.

Shaun Marcum (elbow) will throw a simulated game this weekend.
He was cleared after having what Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said was an "outstanding" bullpen session Wednesday. "He threw everything, all of his off speed stuff, felt great," said Roenicke. "He's ready to do a simulated (session) in St. Louis. Then he should be ready to go out." Marcum will likely need at least two rehab starts following the simulated game.

Shaun Marcum (elbow) is an August trade candidate, reports Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports.
Marcum had a minor setback in his rehab last week but threw a bullpen session Sunday and should be able to start a rehab assignment next weekend. Milwaukee is pleased with his progress, despite transferring him to the 60-day disabled list on Sunday.

He now won't be eligible to return until mid-August. Marcum had a minor setback in his rehab last week but threw a bullpen session Sunday and should be able to start a rehab assignment before long.

Brewers pitching coach Rick Kranitz said Shaun Marcum (elbow) "wasn't quite getting loose" during a bullpen session Friday.
Marcum was originally placed on the disabled list with right elbow tightness, but Kranitz indicated that his shoulder was the issue. The Brewers aren't quite ready to call it a setback yet, but more should be known after he attempts to play catch Saturday.

Uh-oh. There was optimism after Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Marcum's bullpen session on Tuesday went "really good," but he didn't feel so great Friday. It's not clear how they'll proceed, but Marco Estrada figures to keep his rotation spot for a while. Marcum hasn't pitched since June 14 due to right elbow tightness.

"He was happy with it," Roenicke said. "I thought the ball came out of his hand great. I thought that was a nice step for him." It's not clear at this point what the next step is for the righty, but he'll likely require another pen session or two before progressing to live batting practice and eventually a rehab assignment. The Brewers are hoping to have him back sometime in August.

Shawn Marcum will take another meaningful step towards his return when he throws off flat ground on Saturday.
He'll likely do this at least twice, before progressing to throwing off of a mound. Plus, he'll need to go on a minor league rehab assignment after that test is complete. Realistically, it looks like the best case scenario for Marcum would be a return to the Brewers rotation in three weeks.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said that while Shaun Marcum (elbow) is making progress, a return before the end of July isn't realistic.
It's not surprising, as he's resumed throwing but has yet to test out his elbow from the mound. Once he throws from the bump, we'll have a better idea as to when he'll be able to start a rehab assignment.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Friday that Shaun Marcum (elbow) will be sidelined through the All-Star break.
Marcum played catch Friday, which is a good sign after he felt soreness while playing catch on Monday, but he's simply running out of time to make it back within the next 10 days. Michael Fiers and Marco Estrada will continue to have rotation spots for now.

Shaun Marcum will not make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Blue Jays due to a tight right elbow.
The severity of the issue isn't yet known, but it's serious enough for him to miss a start against his former team. The Brewers have also yet to announce a replacement. Marcum has a solid 3.39 ERA and 77/26 K/BB ratio over his first 13 starts this season.

Shawn Marcum won his third consecutive start on Friday, limiting the Padres to three runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Marcum walked three and punched out six in the game. He was credited with an earned run for Evreth Cabrera's inside-the-park homer in the third inning, though it was an ill-timed dive by center fielder Carlos Gomez that caused it to be more than a simple single. Marcum also allowed a solo shot to Cameron Maybin before leaving the game in the sixth inning. He will take a 5-3 record and 3.50 ERA with him into Kansas City where he takes on the Royals on Thursday.

Shaun Marcum went seven strong innings Monday, limiting the Dodgers to one run on six hits and two walks while striking out nine in the 3-2 win.
It was a little surprising to see manager Ron Roenicke send Marcum back out there for the seventh at 104 pitches, but the righty responded with a 1-2-3 inning that included a pair of strikeouts. After struggling the previous two times out, it appears that Marcum is back on track. He'll carry a 3.63 ERA and 1.23 WHIP into this weekend's outing against the Pirates.

Shaun Marcum was knocked around for six runs in six innings in Tuesday's loss to the Giants.
He gave up only five hits and two walks, but a pair of two-run homers did him in. On the plus side, the right-hander has fanned at least five batters in eight of nine starts. Marcum is hovering near his career averages with a 3.93 ERA and 1.24 WHIP.
