Marcum did not appear in a major league game last season after inking a minor league deal with the Indians in December. A neck issue limited his ability to pitch, and he was shut down from mid-May until early-August. Marcum was able to make nine minor league appearances - mostly at Triple-A Columbus - in which he posted a 2.08 EAR over 17.1 total innings. The 32-year-old will look to remain healthy in 2015 as he attempts to redeem himself in the big leagues after going 1-10 with a 5.29 ERA for the Mets in 2013. |

This is where I want to be, so we'll see what happens if that day comes. The main thing right now is to try to pitch for the Cleveland Indians." Marcum is working back slowly from thoracic outlet surgery and his prospects for Opening Day are bleak, but he threw well in a live batting practice session Tuesday. The right-hander could provide nice starting depth for the club if he does decide to stick around. |

Marcum is in camp as a non-roster invite, so his chances of heading north with the club grow slimmer with each passing day. |

"He's worked too hard," Francona said. "It never fails, you come to Spring Training, everybody's all geared up, the volume of throwing increases and then you have looming Opening Day. But I think that's an artificial deadline. We tried to beat that home with a lot of guys, that that is not the end all. Keep the big picture in mind." |
