Tue Oct 7 201419:10Chalmers did not get start at point guard Tuesday
Chalmers did not get the start at point guard Tuesday, the Miami Herald's Joseph Goodman reports.
It was only a preseason game, but Norris Cole, not Chalmers, ran point with the ones. This could be a fluid situation throughout camp, as both players have shown flashes of solid play in past seasons.
Sat Jul 19 201412:53Chalmers speaks about LeBron James
Mario Chalmers said he was surprised about LeBron James leaving the Heat.
"I never thought anybody would want to leave Miami for Cleveland but you grow up and you move on," Chalmers said. "That's what happened and there's no love lost." LeBron yelled at Chalmers more times than most people can count and it should be interesting to see his demeanor with the different roster. Chalmers' fantasy value figures to increase now that he'll have more responsibilities on offense.

Tue Jul 15 201411:01Details of Mario Chalmers' contract released
The details of Mario Chalmers' two-year deal with the Miami Heat have been released.
Chalmers will make $4.0 million during the 20140-15 season and $4.3 during the 2015-16 season. Chalmers will serve as the de factor starting point guard heading into training camp and should provide more fantasy value than in previous seasons, as long as he can hold off Norris Cole and Shabazz Napier.

Sun Jul 13 201418:21Mario Chalmers will re-sign with Heat
Free agent PG Mario Chalmers confirmed on Twitter that he will re-sign with the Heat.
Chalmers wrote, "Proud to say I'm back [with] the Heat. Heat nation we still here." Details of his contract haven't been disclosed, but Chalmers slots in as Miami's default starting PG with Norris Cole and Shabazz Napier backing up the position.

Sat Jun 28 201420:29Mario Chalmers not likely returning to Heat
With the Heat's so-called Big 3 all opting out of their contracts (Chris Bosh will do so on Monday), the Heat are expected to keep Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, but will likely not be able to re-sign PG Mario Chalmers.
With PG Norris Cole the only Heat player under contract right now, and rookie Shabazz Napier on hand, Chalmers is clearly expendable, especially after his disastrous postseason performance. The Heat are expected to add one more big name this summer, with the targets being Carmelo Anthony, Kyle Lowry, Marcin Gortat and Trevor Ariza, for starters. Chalmers could still end up returning to the Heat, but as of now, that seems like an unlikely scenario.

Sun Jun 15 201423:21Mario Chalmers quiet in season-ending defeat
Mario Chalmers didn't enter Game 5 until the mid-way point of the third quarter, finishing Miami's season-ending loss with eight points and zero assists in 15 minutes.
The Heat bench scored two points in the first half and 24 points overall, while the Spurs bench cruised to a combined 47 points. Top-heavy production from LeBron James (31 points) wasn't nearly enough to turn the tide against the surging Spurs, who had the home crowd roaring for them all night, as Miami fell short of their third straight championship. Chalmers' lousy play in the Finals may put a serious dent in his appeal as an unrestricted FA this summer.

Sun Jun 15 201419:45Mario Chalmers won't start Game 5 of Finals
Mario Chalmers will not start Game 5 for the Heat on Sunday, with Ray Allen taking his place in the starting lineup.
Chalmers has had a horrific Finals, shooting 27.8 percent from the field while averaging 3.5 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 turnovers and 3.8 personal fouls in just 25 minutes per game. LeBron James will undoubtedly do most of the ball-handling for Miami as they seek to avoid elimination in San Antonio, and Dwyane Wade and Allen should also pick up more play-making duties with Chalmers taking a backseat.

Thu Jun 12 201409:32Mario Chalmers trying to figure things out
Mario Chalmers is trying to figure out his recent struggles in advance of Thursday's Game 4 against the Spurs.
Chalmers has struggled during the 2014 NBA Finals and is averaging 3.3 points, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 turnovers through the first three games. The 28-year-old has said he is "going through one of the toughest challenges" of his life, but wouldn't elaborate on what those struggles were. His teammates have been trying to do what they can to restore his confidence as Chris Bosh added, "Whatever he's holding on to, just let it go; it's basketball. We have things going on - pressure and things off the court - but when you get on the court, it's about nothing else but the game. We try to take as much pressure off of Rio as possible, but he has to do it himself." With the Heat trailing 2-1 going into Thursday's Game 4, a big game from Chalmers could go a long way towards evening the series.

Wed Jun 11 201414:43Mario Chalmers has film study at 5 am
Mario Chalmers had his own film session at 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.
"This is one of the toughest challenges I've ever been through," Chalmers said of his struggles in the NBA Finals. Coach Erik Spoelstra added the team has to trust Chalmers while his teams have been sending him text messages. Despite his struggles, Chalmers will almost certainly get another start in Game 4 on Thursday.

Wed Jun 11 201409:37Heat stick to typical PG rotation vs. Spurs
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is committed to his typical PG rotation with starter Mario Chalmers backed up by Norris Cole, despite their struggles vs. the Spurs in the Finals.
Chalmers said that he's "still at the drawing board" after his third straight sub-par performance on Tuesday, in which he scored two points on 0-of-5 shooting with four assists and three turnovers in 22 minutes. "As far as point guard play, we'll stick with those guys, and clearly, they're important to us," said Spoelstra. Miami's point guards have been thoroughly outplayed but the team doesn't have many alternatives -- LeBron James and Dwyane Wade already handle the ball on a significant number of possessions, and Toney Douglas is the only other PG-ready player on their roster.

Mon Jun 9 201409:29Mario Chalmers said he doesn't remember elbow
Mario Chalmers said following Game 2 on Sunday that he doesn't remember elbowing Tony Parker.
He was driving to the basket and clearly gave Parker an elbow to the chest, forcing the refs to call a Flagrant 1. Parker missed both free throw attempts, so it wasn't too costly for the Heat. However, Chalmers could receive a fine from the league.

Sun Jun 8 201418:26Mario Chalmers struggling over past month
Mario Chalmers hasn't scored double-digit points in a game since May 8, and he admitted on Saturday that he must "figure out a way to be effective."
Chalmers racked up five fouls and five turnovers in 17 minutes during Game 1 of the Finals, after which he was at a loss for answers. "I'm just dealing with different things, trying to fight through it as much as I can," Chalmers said. "Nothing injury-wise, nothing personal, just trying to figure out where I fit in." The Heat can't be pleased to hear their starting PG question where he fits in during the NBA Finals, and he may be kept on a short leash in Game 2.

Fri Jun 6 201400:03Not-so Super Mario: Chalmers plays 17 minutes
Mario Chalmers came out flat in Thursday's loss to the Spurs in Game 1, playing 17 minutes for three points, one rebound, one assist, three steals, one 3-pointer and five turnovers.
He committed five fouls and looked like he hasn't played basketball in weeks. Chalmers allowed way too much penetration on defense and coach Erik Spoelstra gave Norris Cole 29 minutes off the bench. Cole had two points and five assists, so he didn't have a terrific showing either.

Sun May 18 201418:16Mario Chalmers commits bad foul in loss
Mario Chalmers finished with six points, two boards, five assists, one steal, two blocks and one 3-pointer on 2-of-9 shooting vs. the Pacers on Sunday.
He committed a horrible foul on C.J. Watson and will likely be getting a call from the league office. Chalmers was charged with a flagrant 1, and most signs point to him being in the lineup for Game 2 despite shoving Watson in the back. Although, Super Nintendo Chalmers will have to hit the reset button due to sub-par play on both ends of the floor.

Wed Apr 23 201422:30Mario Chalmers looks fine in win vs. CHA
Mario Chalmers (knee) played 30 minutes vs. the Bobcats on Wednesday with 11 points, two boards, three assists, one block and two 3-pointers.
He shot 3-of-3 to open the game, then missed his last four shots. Chalmers was a game-time call tonight due to a leg bruise, but it didn't seem like an issue. He was active on both ends of the court and is unlikely to be a game-time call again on Saturday.

Wed Apr 23 201411:03Mario Chalmers (knee) game-time for Wednesday
Mario Chalmers (bruised knee) participated in the walkthrough portion of Wednesday's shootaround and he remains a game-time decision for Game 2.
"We're trying to keep him off his feet as much as possible," said coach Erik Spoelstra. He played through the injury during Game 1, finishing with seven points in 25 minutes, but if he can't suit up the Heat will deploy either Norris Cole or Toney Douglas as a fill-in starting PG.

Tue Apr 22 201415:29Mario Chalmers (knee) questionable for Game 2
Mario Chalmers (bruised knee) was limited during Tuesday's practice and he's questionable to play in Game 2 vs. the Bobcats on Wednesday.
He injured himself in the first quarter of Sunday's Game 1 matchup vs. the Bobcats but continued to play through the injury, and coach Erik Spoelstra said that Chalmers "did make progress from [Monday]." If he's forced to sit out the Heat could start Norris Cole at PG, but Spoelstra has shown a preference to keep his second unit intact this season, so Toney Douglas could also get the start. We should have a more definitive update following Wednesday's shootaround.

Tue Apr 22 201412:56Mario Chalmers misses Tuesday practice
Mario Chalmers (shin) missed Tuesday's practice.
Chalmers took a shot to his right shin during Sunday's Game 1 win over the Bobcats and was the only Heat player to miss Tuesday's practice. The 27-year-old scored seven points in 25 minutes on Sunday and should be be available to suit up for Game 2 on Wednesday, but Norris Cole would get a bump in minutes if Chalmers is unable to play.

Sun Apr 20 201419:02Mario Chalmers has right shin contusion
Mario Chalmers suffered a right shin contusion in Sunday's win over the Bobcats.
He was a bit gimpy late in the game because his shin banged Chris Bosh's knee brace, but it didn't seem to affect him much. Chalmers scored seven points in 25 minutes on Sunday and it would be a shock to see him miss Game 2 on Wednesday.
