Tue Feb 12 201308:45Caron Butler aiming to return on Wednesday
Caron Butler (back) is hopeful to return on Wednesday against the Rockets, but he admitted that his back isn't feeling better than it did when initially injuring it.
Butler's availability will be fluid as back issues tend to linger, and there is no way to predict how he might feel. He did not play on Monday, and it's possible he could be a game-time call again on Wednesday. If he does sit, Matt Barnes should draw the start.

Mon Feb 11 201316:36Caron Butler (back) ruled out for Monday
Caron Butler (back) will not play in Monday's game vs. the 76ers.
Butler typically soaks up 24 minutes per game and his absence clears a bit of headroom for Matt Barnes and Grant Hill. The Clippers are the only team with three games this week.

Mon Feb 11 201308:51Caron Butler likely a game-time call Monday
Caron Butler said he slept in the wrong bed on Saturday, and that caused his back to tighten up and force him out of action on Sunday.
"I was jacked up then," Butler said. "I came back into the locker room and I was just tight. I had to sit out." Tuff Juice said he'd take some "relaxers" on Sunday and will likely be a game-time decision against the Sixers on Monday. If he does sit, look for Matt Barnes to draw the start in his place. Barnes had just four points, three boards and a block on 1-of-8 shooting in less than 20 minutes on Sunday.

Sun Feb 10 201314:32Caron Butler out with a lower back issue
Caron Butler left Sunday's game with a lower back issue and will not return.
He dealt with a back issue last year and the 32-year-old forward might need some time to recover. Matt Barnes is in line for more minutes while Butler heals and his value strengthens in all leagues.

Fri Feb 1 201323:23Butler goes for 12 and eight on Friday
Caron Butler scored 12 points on 3-of-12 shooting (including two threes) with eight rebounds and one steal with Matt Barnes (suspension) out on Friday.
Butler will go back to being mostly irrelevant in fantasy leagues when Barnes and others return.

Thu Jan 31 201300:20Caron Butler makes most of extra minutes
Caron Butler picked up some extra playing time with Matt Barnes getting ejected on Wednesday, scoring 19 points with five boards, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers.
He played a season-high 35 minutes in this game and it was third game over his last seven in which he reached double figures in scoring. Barnes probably won't be suspended, so Butler can stay on the wire in most formats.

Thu Jan 17 201322:49Caron Butler scores 12 points Thursday
Caron Butler shot 4-of-9 from the field for 12 points with four rebounds, two assists and one steal in Thursday's 90-77 win over Minnesota.
He didn't make any 3-pointers in the game, which is a rarity this season. Butler has been used almost exclusively as a spot-up shooter with the added depth. In fact, Butler ranks sixth in the NBA for percentage of field goals that are assisted, so he's getting plenty of open looks. He's not worth owning in standard leagues unless it's a desperation attempt for triples.

Thu Jan 17 201309:52X-rays on Caron Butler's foot were negative
X-rays on Caron Butler's foot were negative and showed no damage.
Butler had a sore right foot after being injured Tuesday against the Rockets, but Tuff Juice said he was "OK" and is expected to be back in the lineup on Thursday.

Wed Jan 16 201300:09Caron Butler scores just one point Tuesday
Caron Butler missed his only field goal attempt on Tuesday and had one point, three rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes.
Butler had been producing in the 3-point department prior to this dud, averaging 2.0 triples in his previous four games. Matt Barnes playing exceptionally well has put a damper on Butler, so he'll be very tough to own in standard formats following this ugly outing.

Fri Jan 4 201321:19Caron Butler will play on Friday vs. LAL
Caron Butler (personal) will return for Friday's game against the Lakers.
He's also dealing with a sinus migraine and he will play through it. Butler and Matt Barnes have been splitting time at small forward, but Caron has been utilized quite a bit from distance. He's worth a look as a low-upside specialist.

Thu Jan 3 201308:01Caron Butler expected to rejoin LAC Friday
Caron Butler, who missed Wednesday's game due to personal reasons, is expected to return to the team in time for Friday's game against the Lakers.
Butler's absence was announced shortly before tipoff and no details were provided. The good news is he's expected to be back by Friday, so hopefully whatever forced Butler to miss Wednesday's game was nothing of a serious nature. Matt Barnes will head back to his usual reserve role on Friday.

Wed Jan 2 201322:08Caron Butler (personal) out on Wednesday
Caron Butler (personal reasons) is not with the team and will not play against the Warriors on Wednesday.
There are no details on what exactly the personal reasons are, so check back for updates. Butler has been up and down for most of the year, but he's taking enough 3-point attempts to be worthy of consideration as a specialist in some formats. Matt Barnes will start on Wednesday.

Tue Jan 1 201323:58Caron Butler cools off on Tuesday
Caron Butler scored just seven points with two rebounds and one 3-pointer in Tuesday's 92-78 loss to the Nuggets.
He was 1-of-6 from downtown and the 32-year-old forward has taken 5.9 attempts over his last four games. He and Matt Barnes will cancel each other out a little, but Caron is worth a look in some leagues for owners needing a little help in triples.

Mon Dec 31 201201:05Caron Butler scores 29 pts w/ 6-of-6 threes
Caron Butler blew up for 29 points in Sunday's victory, hitting all six of his 3-point attempts, and 10-of-14 FGs overall.
This is the third time all season that CB has scored 20+ points. The last time it happened was a 33-point game that included nine 3-pointers, and he followed it up with games of two points, 11 points, and five points. He's shooting 39.4 percent from downtown, which is where 44 percent of his attempts come from, so give him a look if you're in need of a specialist.

Fri Dec 28 201201:44Caron Butler scores 14 in 25 minutes vs. BOS
Caron Butler played 25 minutes in Thursday's 106-77 win over the Celtics and had 14 points, three assists and two 3-pointers.
His 25 minutes are the most he's played since December 9, so he'll need a lot more production to even be on the radar in standard leagues. He'll basically need Matt Barnes to miss time in order to become a player worth targeting on the wire.

Tue Dec 4 201202:05Butler plays 21 minutes in win over Jazz
Caron Butler played 21 minutes against the Jazz on Monday, scoring five points on 2-of-8 shooting (including a three) with one rebound, one assist, and two steals.
That 33-point explosion seems like light years ago, and Butler remains an option only in deeper formats.

Thu Nov 29 201202:40Caron Butler crashes back to earth Wednesday
Caron Butler backed up his 33-point, nine 3-pointer game with just two points, five rebounds, two assists and no 3-pointers on 1-of-8 shooting on Wednesday.
Butler was unconscious on Monday night, but just didn't have it tonight. He's always worth a look in fantasy leagues, but just hasn't played well enough this season to be considered a must-own player. Especially after tonight's disaster.

Tue Nov 27 201200:58Caron Butler hits nine 3-pointers in loss
Caron Butler hit a franchise-record nine 3-point shots in Monday's loss to the Hornets, scoring a season-high 33 points with six rebounds and one assist.
Butler hit 12-of-24 field goals and 9-of-15 shots from distance. This is going to cause a rush to pick him up in many fantasy leagues, and the effort is certainly deserving of a pickup, but we're not changing our overall valuation of him just yet. He has struggled to hold value in 16-18 team formats, and is probably worth a look in 12-14 team formats for owners needing 3-point shooting and that's about it.

Fri Nov 23 201223:51Caron Butler quiet in return for Clips
Caron Butler returned from a shoulder injury and started for the Clippers on Friday, but had just seven point on 3-of-9 shooting in 32 minutes.
Matt Barnes was reduced to the bench and just 16 minutes, finishing with just one point and five rebounds. The Clippers looked pretty good with Barnes playing well and motivated when Butler was out, but as long as Butler is holding down the starting gig, neither player is going to be worth much to fantasy owners.
