CF Jacoby Ellsbury set an unusual major league record Monday night, when he reached base via catcher's interference for the 30th time in his career during the Yankees' 5-1 win over the Rays at Citi Field. Ellsbury, who reached via catcher's interference and scored during the Yankees' five-run fourth inning, broke a record he shared with Pete Rose. Remarkably, Ellsbury needed just 1,218 games to break a record Rose set over the course of a 3,562 games, the most ever played by a major leaguer. Ellsbury, who turned 34 Monday, finished 0-for-2 with a stolen base as his nine-game hitting streak was snapped. He is batting .257 with seven homers, 38 RBIs and 18 stole bases this season.

OF Jacoby Ellsbury extended his hitting streak to eight with a double in the fifth inning on Sunday. He has now hit safely in 16 of his last 17 starts. Ellsbury, who went 1-for-3 and scored three times, is 12-for-28 during the hitting streak.

CF Jacoby Ellsbury has reached base in 11 of his last 13 plate appearances. Overall, he's 7-for-9 with three RBIs plus four walks and three runs scored. He's scheduled to bat seventh in the rescheduled game with Baltimore on Thursday.

The New York Yankees placed center fielder Aaron Hicks on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with a left oblique strain.Hicks suffered the injury in Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox while making a running catch of Hanley Ramirez's deep drive to center field in the top of the sixth inning"I just got the report that he felt something, and he's in an MRI tube," Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters after the game.Jacoby Ellsbury came in to replace Hicks in the Yankees' 5-1 victory at Yankee Stadium. OF Jacoby Ellsbury started for the second straight game and was 1-for-2 with a walk. Ellsbury started Thursday because he entered the game batting .500 (20-for-40) vs. RHP Chris Archer. Ellsbury has become the fourth outfielder recently with the emergence of Clint Frazier, but manager Joe Girardi said the veteran has handled it well.

CF Jacoby Ellsbury did not start for the fourth straight game Tuesday and did not appear as a pinch hitter or pinch runner. He is the Yankees' fourth outfielder for the time being, which manager Joe Girardi acknowledged by saying "There's going to be days he's going start.
