Thu Jul 11 201309:54Ed Davis won't play in Vegas Summer League
Ed Davis said that he won't play in Las Vegas Summer League because he was "asked by a coach who doesn't have a job."
Davis got into a bit of a Twitter argument with the Commercial Appeal beat writer Ronald Tillery and said he doesn't feel that Summer League is the only way to get better. After beginning to flourish in Toronto, a trade to Memphis stagnated Davis' growth due to being behind Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. He won't be worth drafting in fantasy leagues.

Wed Apr 10 201300:10Ed Davis quiet despite absence of Arthur
Ed Davis had eight points, six rebounds and a block in 23 minutes on Tuesday.
Darrell Arthur was out, so Quincy Pondexter (8 points, two 3-pointers, 23 minutes), Davis and little used Jon Leuer all combined to pick up the slack off the bench tonight.

Sun Apr 7 201321:48Ed Davis quiet despite Arthur's absence
Ed Davis struggled to score vs. the Kings, finishing with two points on 0-of-4 FGs and 2-of-2 FTs, though he did chip in seven rebounds, one steal and two blocks in 18 minutes.
We expected better with Darrell Arthur (back) sidelined tonight, and Davis burned many owners who spot-started him. We'd be inclined to give Davis another shot if Arthur sits out on Tuesday, as the Grizzlies will face the Bobcats' generous defense.

Thu Apr 4 201300:53Ed Davis has random double-double on Wed.
Ed Davis notched an out-of-the-blue 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench in Wednesday's road win in Portland.
He did his damage in 18 minutes against a Blazers team with minimal frontcourt depth, so don't read anything into it.

Thu Mar 28 201300:02Ed Davis gets a DNP-CD on Wednesday
Ed Davis received a DNP-CD against the Knicks on Wednesday.
Yuck. It looked like Davis was going to take advantage of the Marc Gasol (abdomen) injury and now that Gasol is back, Lionel Hollins didn't play Davis even for a second. Owners in weekly leagues that started him will never look at the phrase "out indefinitely" the same again and Davis is back to having minuscule fantasy value.

Mon Mar 25 201322:12Ed Davis scores nine points with seven boards
Ed Davis scored nine points with seven boards on 3-of-4 shooting against the Wizards on Monday.
He started off with a bang on Saturday with five blocks against Boston and Monday's game was a mild disappointment. Davis is shooting 55 percent from the field and has 1.1 blocks per game in just 20.8 minutes, so he should be picked up in most fantasy leagues while Marc Gasol (abdomen) is on the shelf.

Sat Mar 23 201323:20Ed Davis blocks five shots in start at center
Starting at center for the short-handed Grizzlies, Ed Davis finished Saturday's game with 11 points, eight rebounds and a career-high five blocks, despite playing only 19 minutes.
Marc Gasol is dealing with a torn abdominal muscle, which leaves him out indefinitely and makes Davis a must-own fantasy option, with the assumption that his minutes will increase going forward. His splits in 27 starts this season give an idea of what to expect -- 12.5 points on 55.1 percent shooting, 7.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.6 steals, 1.1 blocks and only 1.3 turnovers in 31 minutes per game. Yes, his FT shooting is a concern (58.9 percent this season), but that's not enough to spoil his value.

Tue Mar 19 201301:59Ed Davis scores five points in return
Ed Davis returned to action (illness) on Monday and had two points, six boards and two blocks in 17 minutes.
He had a nice little bump in production early last week, but he has since cooled off considerably. He won't be worth owning while Zach Randolph (14 points and 10 boards) and Marc Gasol (16 points, eight boards, five assists and four steals) are healthy.

Sun Mar 17 201309:29Ed Davis, Austin Daye ailing on Saturday
Ed Davis and Austin Daye were both feeling sick on Saturday, though both guys did play off the bench.
Davis had four points and five boards in 16 minutes, while Daye was scoreless in four minutes. Both guys should have recovered enough to play vs. the Wolves on Monday, but we'll list Davis as questionable as a precaution.

Sat Mar 16 201300:25Ed Davis plays just 11 minutes vs. Denver
Ed Davis played just 11 minutes against the Nuggets on Friday and had four points, three boards, one steal and one block.
He was hot all of the Sunday on Tuesday and he's gone cold just as quick in his last two. It's obvious that he's got a one-way ticket to Cut City in most fantasy formats while Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol are healthy.

Thu Mar 14 201302:03Ed Davis disappears in Wednesday's win
Ed Davis, who managed 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 25 minutes in Zach Randolph's return on Tuesday, played just 14 minutes with two points and one rebound in Wednesday's win over the Clippers.
Maybe the fact he picked up four fouls limited his run, but this line shouldn't come as much of a surprise to Davis' owners. He was struggling to produce when Z-Bo was healthy, and while Tuesday's line showed some promise initially, chances are it was merely a fluke. If you recently picked up Davis, it might be time to keep trolling the wire and look for a player with a better chance at getting big minutes.

Wed Mar 13 201300:53Ed Davis plays well despite Z-Bo's return
Ed Davis played 25 minutes and hit 6-of-9 shots for 14 points, nine rebounds, a steal and two blocks in 25 minutes of Tuesday's win over the Blazers, despite the return of Zach Randolph.
This was a very interesting night for Davis, who saw minutes at small forward, power forward and center tonight. It's hard to say if he'll be able to keep this going as long as Z-Bo is healthy, but tonight was a great start. And given his strong play while Randolph was out, and the Grizzlies upcoming string of four-game weeks, Davis might be worth picking up if he was dropped in your league.

Sat Mar 9 201323:01Ed Davis gets 12 pts, nine reb, five blocks
With Zach Randolph (ankle) still sidelined, Ed Davis started at PF vs. the Hornets and had 12 points, nine rebounds, one steal and five blocks in 30 minutes.
The Grizzlies have now won 12 of their past 13 games. The trade sending Rudy Gay to Toronto seems to have maintained their competitiveness this season while improving their depth and flexibility going forward, and Z-Bo's injury has allowed Davis to get some traction with his new team. His minutes will evaporate once Randolph is health, of course, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Fri Mar 8 201323:59Ed Davis puts up a nice line vs. Cleveland
Ed Davis shot 6-of-11 from the field for 12 points with nine boards and one assist in 29 minutes against the Cavs on Friday.
This was what he was expected to do on Wednesday, but he put up a dud with only three points against the Blazers. Zach Randolph shouldn't be out much longer and Davis can be left on the wire in most leagues.

Wed Mar 6 201322:54Ed Davis has a disappointing line Wednesday
Ed Davis started for the injured Zach Randolph and had three points, six boards, one steal and two blocks in 25 minutes against the Blazers.
This was his chance to show Memphis they made a smart move in acquiring him in the Rudy Gay deal and he squandered it. Darrell Arthur (neck) was also out and there's really no reason to pick up Davis unless it's in a very deep league.

Sun Mar 3 201320:45Ed Davis double-doubles in fill-in start
Ed Davis notched 10 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks vs. the Magic, taking advantage of Zach Randolph's absence with a sprained ankle.
The Raptors don't play again until Wednesday, but Davis would be a nice pickup if Z-Bo misses more games. As a reminder of his upside, consider his numbers in 24 starts with Toronto this season -- 12.9 points on 55.7 percent shooting, 7.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.0 blocks in 32 minutes per game.

Tue Feb 19 201323:16Ed Davis gets hot in win over Pistons
Ed Davis hit 6-of-7 shots for 14 points, four rebounds, a steal and four blocks in just 21 minutes of Tuesday's win.
This was his first nice game for the Grizzlies, but the minutes still weren't really there. He was simply on fire, and the only thing this game means is that Davis should be monitored going forward.

Wed Feb 13 201309:33Hollins trying to figure out Ed Davis' role
Lionel Hollins admitted that he's still trying to figure out the best way to use Ed Davis.
Davis has played limited minutes since arriving in Memphis after seeing consistent time on the floor in Toronto. He was playing significant minutes (in Toronto before the trade)," Hollins said of Davis. "We're trying to figure out where to put him in the game and with whom as we go forward." Davis' progress can be monitored from the waiver wire.

Sat Feb 2 201301:28Ed Davis gets just five minutes in debut
Ed Davis played just five minutes in his Memphis debut on Friday, scoring two points with one rebound against the Wizards.
While he's probably not going to average five minutes per game with his new team, this is looks to be the E.N.D. for Ed. Marc Gasol (13 points, 15 boards, five assists, one steal and two blocks) and Zach Randolph both average 35 minutes per game and Ed is blocked. If you wanted to know when it's time to drop Ed Davis in just about all leagues, it's time to drop Ed Davis in just about all leagues. He had a good run, though.
