Sat Dec 21 201314:59Ed Davis scores 10 points in start at center
Ed Davis made his third start of the season on Saturday, notching 10 points, four boards and two blocks in 25 minutes vs. the Knicks.
He played center and reduced Kosta Koufos to just 16 minutes off the bench, while fellow big man Jon Leuer played 17 minutes. Leuer has been the most consistent value of the trio in December, but a reliable 25-minute role would be enough for Davis to provide a trickle of high-percentage points, rebounds and blocks.

Thu Dec 19 201301:32Ed Davis scores 12 points vs. Mavs
Ed Davis scored 12 points against the Mavericks on Wednesday with two boards on 6-of-11 shooting.
He hasn't really be making much of a splash for the shorthanded Grizzlies and isn't worth owning in most formats. Davis' value is even less considering Marc Gasol (knee) ditched his crutches this week.

Sat Dec 14 201300:02Ed Davis still gets 24 minutes at PF
Ed Davis played 24 minutes against the Pelicans on Friday, scoring 12 points with three boards, one steal and two blocks on 5-of-8 shooting.
He more or less split time at power forward with Zach Randolph in a bit of foul trouble, so the 28 minutes is a little misleading. Davis missed four games with an ankle sprain and is only worth a look in deeper leagues for now.

Fri Dec 13 201318:54Ed Davis is back for Friday's game
Ed Davis will return to the lineup to face the Pelicans on Friday.
He missed four games with an ankle sprain and it's unclear how many minutes he'll get tonight. Jon Leuer has been terrific in his last three games, averaging 16.0 points and 8.0 boards. Davis can be kept on the wire in the majority of leagues.

Fri Dec 13 201313:55Ed Davis (ankle) expected to return Friday
Ed Davis (ankle) is expected to return on Friday after going through shootaround without any setbacks.
His return is welcome news for the short-handed Grizzlies, but it won't help fantasy owners who are capitalizing on Jon Leuer's recent hot streak.

Thu Dec 12 201311:03Ed Davis (ankle) targeting Friday return
Ed Davis (ankle) is targeting a Friday return to the court for the Grizzlies' game against the Pelicans.
Davis had been playing well before missing the Grizzlies' last three games, but that was also while Zach Randolph was out of the lineup. The UNC alum is still worth owning in deep leagues, however, as he should still see 20-plus minutes while he and Kosta Koufos fill in for the injured Marc Gasol. Owners who have been riding Jon Leuer's increased playing time will want to take note of Davis' status for Friday, as a return to the lineup would push Leuer's minutes back down.

Wed Dec 11 201312:47Ed Davis (ankle) unlikely to play Wednesday
Ed Davis (ankle) is not expected to play vs. the Thunder on Wednesday.
He went through part of shootaround but his ankle is still sore, leaving Jon Leuer as the likely first big man off the bench. In the past four games, Leuer is averaging 15.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks, while shooting well from the field and the FT line.

Mon Dec 9 201314:54Ed Davis out again on Monday night
Ed Davis (ankle) will not play against the Magic on Monday.
It will be his second game out of the lineup and the Grizzlies are really going to have to get the most out of the healthy guys on their roster. Jon Leuer will backup Kosta Koufos and Zach Randolph, so all three should get a lot of minutes as the only bigs on their active roster.

Sat Dec 7 201318:32Memphis without Ed Davis (ankle) vs. Warriors
Ed Davis (ankle) has been ruled out vs. the visiting Warriors on Saturday.
He hurt himself on Thursday and isn't quite ready to return, leaving the Grizzlies very thin behind Zach Randolph and Kosta Koufos in the frontcourt. Seldom-used PF Jon Leuer looks like the next man up for Memphis.

Thu Dec 5 201321:25Ed Davis out for game with sprained ankle
Ed Davis suffered a sprained right ankle in Thursday's game against the Clippers.
He was able to walk to the locker room under his own power, but he had a pretty bad limp. Chances are the swelling will be an issue for Davis, so he might have to sit out on Saturday against the Warriors. Jon Leuer will get most of the minutes at backup power forward. Davis finished with six points and two boards in eight minutes on Thursday.

Thu Dec 5 201320:54Ed Davis sprains right ankle Thursday
Ed Davis suffered a sprained right ankle in the first half of Thursday's game.
He tried to play through it for a couple possessions, but the Grizzlies committed a foul to get him out of there. Davis is coming off a 21-point, 12-board game on Tuesday, but his role will decrease with Zach Randolph back. Jon Leuer will get some more minutes with Z-Bo not at 100 percent

Wed Dec 4 201300:50Like a Boss: Ed Davis goes for 21 and 12
Ed Davis drew his second start in a row on Tuesday with 21 points, 12 boards, one assist and two blocks in 33 minutes against the Suns.
Zach Randolph couldn't play with his ingrown toenail injury and Boss bounced back nicely from his lackluster 10-point, eight-board game on Saturday. Randolph almost played in this game, so there's a good chance he'll be ready for Thursday's game against the Clippers -- last year's first-round playoff opponent. Davis can probably be left on the wire.

Sat Nov 30 201322:54Ed Davis plays OK in start for Z-Bo
Ed Davis played 29 minutes in his first start of the season on Saturday with 10 points, eight boards and one steal.
He committed five fouls and had just a so-so effort in the loss, He started for Zach Randolph, but Z-Bo only has an ingrown toenail, so it's hard to imagine the team will be without for much longer. Fantasy owners can leave Boss on the wire in just about all leagues.

Wed Nov 27 201322:12Ed Davis posts solid line in 24 bench minutes
Ed Davis put together his best game of the year vs. Boston, scoring 11 points with seven rebounds and three blocks in 24 minutes off the bench.
He has five blocks in his past two games and has received new life with Marc Gasol (knee) out of commission. His playing time may creep higher as the primary reserve behind Kosta Koufos and Zach Randolph, and he's worth watching closely if you need a handful of high-percentage points, rebounds and blocks.

Tue Nov 26 201300:10Davis productive in his 16 minutes
Ed Davis played just 16 minutes on Monday, but still managed six points on 3-of-5 shooting with four rebounds, one steal and two blocks.
Kosta Koufos was great in his 31 minutes and Jon Leuer was added to the rotation for 10 minutes, so it looks like Davis is simply playing pure backup minutes again. That's not going to be enough for most owners to rely on, so we'll just note the good night and see if he can do it again.

Sat Nov 23 201301:42Davis likely to back up both frontcourt slots
Ed Davis scored six points on 3-of-4 shooting with four rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Spurs.
If you were wondering if Davis would step into the minutes left over by Marc Gasol's exit the answer was 'not really,' as long as tonight was any indication. Even if the Grizzlies try to trend toward small after this, Zach Randolph might have something to say about banging with opposing centers and Kosta Koufos is a legitimate backup for the Grizz to plug in. Look for Koufos to step into Gasol's minutes and Davis to backup both frontcourt slots.

Tue Nov 19 201311:12Ed Davis dropped from Grizzlies' rotation
The Grizzlies are currently going with a nine-man rotation that excludes Ed Davis.
Davis was only averaging 8.6 minutes per game over his last five games anyway, but this news serves as an even bigger blow to the fifth-year forward's fantasy prospects. While Davis had been relatively useful to fantasy owners back when he was on the Raptors, his new role in Memphis has sapped him of all remaining value for the time being.

Sun Oct 27 201312:34Ed Davis 'longshot' to earn extension
Ed Davis is a "longshot" to earn a contract extension before the Oct. 31 deadline, according to USA Today's Sam Amick.
The two sides discussed an extension last week but presumably Davis' salary demands and the team's notion of his value weren't aligned. Davis will serve as Zach Randolph's primary backup this year, a role which tailors his value to deep fantasy leagues.

Tue Oct 22 201310:12Grizzlies, Ed Davis discussing extension
The Grizzlies and Ed Davis have discussed a contract extension, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Davis will have a $4.3 million qualifying offer next summer but the Grizzlies might want to avoid the restricted FA process by locking him up to a long-term deal by Oct. 31. The sides have only had initial talks, according to Stein, and "it remains to be seen if negotiations progress to the serious stage."

Wed Oct 9 201323:36Ed Davis double-doubles in start
Ed Davis started for the Grizzlies on a Wednesday night when Marc Gasol was resting and had 10 points, 10 rebounds and a block.
The Grizzlies love Davis and he played very well tonight, but when Gasol is playing, Zach Randolph will start, leaving Davis to fight for minutes off the bench. He might be worth a late flier, but his real value would come if Randolph goes down with an injury this season.
