Thu May 15 201412:59A's land outfielder Kyle Blanks from Padres
Athletics acquired OF Kyle Blanks from the Padres for LHP Jake Goebbert and a player to be named later.
Blanks finally gets a chance of scenery after posting a .712 OPS in parts of six seasons with the Padres. The 27-year-old first baseman and corner outfielder has a big body, enticing minor league power numbers, and was once rated a Top 50 prospect by Baseball America. The A's will hope some upside remains.

Mon May 12 201418:15Kyle Blanks could be traded soon
Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that Kyle Blanks "may be on the move soon."
Cotillo lists that A's as "a possibility at this point." Blanks has had trouble staying healthy and has been back-and-forth between the Padres and Triple-A the last few seasons, hitting .228/.310/.401 with the big club. However, he's still just 27 and a former top prospect, so the A's (or some other team) may think there's still some upside left.

Mon May 5 201416:33Padres recall 1B/OF Kyle Blanks from Triple-A
Padres recalled 1B/OF Kyle Blanks from Triple-A Tucson.
As expected. Blanks was mashing the ball in the minors, putting up nine home runs and a 1.014 OPS through 27 games, so the hope is that he can provide a jolt to a sagging offense. The 27-year-old could see at-bats between the outfield and first base. Watch his playing time carefully, as he could be a useful addition in deeper fantasy leagues.

Mon May 5 201416:04Blanks could be called up Monday
Padres general manager Josh Byrnes indicated that Kyle Blanks could be called up to the majors as soon as Monday.
Blanks is batting .265 with nine home runs and a 1.014 OPS through 27 games in Triple-A, big numbers for a team starved for any kind of offense. Yonder Alonso is off to a miserable start this season and could find himself losing playing time at first base.

Padres avoided arbitration with OF/1B Kyle Blanks by agreeing to a one-year, $987,500 contract.

Sun Dec 8 201318:40Padres could look to deal Blanks for reliever
Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune believes that the Padres could look to deal a reserve outfielder at the winter meetings, either Kyle Blanks or Jesus Guzman, for bullpen help.
Center notes that the Padres have nine players on the 40-man roster with major league experience in the outfield, but the team is woefully short on bullpen pieces. The 27-year-old slugger could be an attractive trade chip due to his massive power. Blanks slashed .243/.305/.379 with eight homers and 35 RBI in 88 contests during an injury-plagued 2013 season.
