Baez was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
Baez will return for his fourth stint with the big club this season, replacing Hyun-Jin Ryu (glute) on the active roster. In 40 appearances between Double-A Chattanooga and Albuquerque this season, Baez has posted a 3.86 ERA and 1.31 WHIP, so it seems fair to say he won't be entrusted with high-leverage innings.
Mon Aug 11 201416:02Baez optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday
Baez was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.
The Dodgers needed to make room on the roster for Kevin Correia, who will start Monday's game, and Baez was the pitcher who got sent down. Expectations should have never been high for Baez, as he posted a 4.76 ERA in 22.2 innings at Triple-A before getting a brief cup of coffee with the Dodgers. He'll continue to provide organizational bullpen depth.

Baez was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
Baez made a pair of appearances with the big club last month, but he's spent most of the year in the minors, splitting time between Double-A Chattanooga and Albuquerque. He'll be up to take the roster spot of Paco Rodgriguez (Teres Major), but Baez will likely only work in middle relief and figures to be on the chopping block when the team needs to add help elsewhere.

In his first season since making the switch to pitching, Baez compiled a 3.88 ERA 55/23 K/BB ratio in 58 innings over two levels. The Dodgers added the former infielder to their 40-man roster to protect him in December's Rule 5 Draft. The seem to have liked what they saw from the 25-year-old.

Tue Feb 5 201315:30Baez switching from third baseman to pitcher
Pedro Baez is making the switch from position player to pitcher.
The Dodgers were hoping Baez would develop into a power threat at third base, but the soon-to-be 25-year-old is converting to a pitcher after compiling an underwhelming .247/.308/.391 batting line over six seasons in the minors. "They put him on the mound in instructional league and that fastball is really strong," said Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt. "You talk about Kenley when you see the ball come out of his hand. He hasn't been overwhelmed by thinking too much about pitching. He just sees the glove and throws it and that's kind of refreshing." It's safe to say the Dodgers would be pretty pleased if Baez enjoys similar success as Kenley Jansen, a converted catcher.
