RHP Pedro Baez was not available for Wednesday's game after being hit in the back of the head with a thrown ball while the team was warming up. Manager Dave Roberts said Baez was hit by a warmup pitch thrown by Adam Liberatore and received medical attention. "It was not a 90 mph fastball, but Lib was getting loose and airmailed one and hit him in the back of the head," Roberts said. Baez will be re-evaluated on Thursday morning.

Baez has allowed eight runs in his last eight appearances and has succeeded eighth inning duties to Chris Hatcher it appears.
Baez does have a 9:0 K:BB in those eight innings, so his control is fine. Still, he'll need to learn to command his pitches in and out of the zone better to move back into a more prominent bullpen role.
Sun Aug 2 201523:30Baez (4-2) replaced J.P
Baez (4-2) replaced J.P. Howell with two outs in the ninth inning and allowed an inherited runner to score off a double by Chris Iannetta before shutting the Angels down in the tenth inning to pick up the win on Sunday.
With Kenley Jansen unavailable after throwing 50 pitches combined in the previous two contests against the Angels, manager Don Mattingly turned to Baez to shut the door on a potential Angels rally. The 27-year-old responded by serving up a game-tying double to Iannetta and then struck out Taylor Featherston to end the inning. After the Dodgers were unable to push the winning run across in the ninth inning, Baez found himself on the mound again in the tenth and induced three flyouts from the top of the Angels order. The righty secured his fourth victory on the year after Andre Ethier's walk-off home run put the Dodgers on top for good.

Baez picked up the win Sunday against the Brewers with a scoreless eighth inning.
Baez has been hit or miss lately, but he was good in this one. Should something happen to closer Kenley Jansen, Baez and Joel Peralta would seem to be the top two candidates to fill in for Jansen.

Baez (chest) will likely be activated from the disabled list before Friday's game in Miami, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Baez tossed three scoreless innings during his rehab assignment, proving that he's ready to rejoin the Dodgers. He's been fantastic through 15.1 innings this season, posting a 1.76 ERA, 12.9 K/9 and 1.8 BB/9. If Baez keeps it up, he could be the top option to step in to the closer's role should anything happen to Kenley Jansen.

Baez (chest) has tossed threescoreless innings in his rehab appearances and could be activated sometime this week, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Baez should rejoin the Dodgers rather than Triple-A Oklahoma City given his 1.76 ERA and 22:3 K:BB in 15.1 MLB innings this year.

Baez (chest) tossed his second scoreless inning for Triple-A Oklahoma City as he continues his rehab assignment.

Baez (chest) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
Two weeks after resuming mound work, Baez is now set return to active competition with Oklahoma City. The pectoral injury cost Baez over a month, and he will likely need to show he can hold up to pitching on back-to-back days before the Dodgers return him to the major league roster.

Baez (chest) through off a pitching mound today, Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times reports.
After throwing on flat ground with no pain, Baez has been able to successfully do so off the mound too. He still has some time to spend on the DL, but it appears Baez should be fine to return after the 15 days are up.

Baez (pectoral strain) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday.
Baez was removed from Wednesday's game against the Marlins in the eighth inning, and he'll now be out until at least the very end of May. The timing is manageable for the Dodgers, with Kenley Jansen (foot) expected to return from the disabled list this weekend. For now, Daniel Coulombe will replace Baez on the 25-man roster.

Baez has a 2.45 ERA and 15:2 K:BB in 11 innings, but he's not in line for any save opportunities.
Baez is likely behind both Yimi Garcia and Chris Hatcher, and soon will also be behind Kenley Jansen (foot). He's a solid guy to have around in holds leagues however given his ability to rack up strikeouts with his 96.4 mph average fastball.

Baez has as 4.32 ERA and 10:1 K:BB in 8.1 innings this spring, but given he has minor league options remaining, he's probably Triple-A bound.
Baez is probably deserving of a spot, but with so much competition, he'll probably get squeezed out.

Baez's chances at breaking camp on the 25-man roster are likely improved given the injury to Kenley Jansen (foot).
Baez posted a 2.63 ERA and 0.88 HIP in 24 innings for the club last year, so he probably stood a good chance regardless. With a fastball that averaged 95.3 mph a year ago, it's possible Baez could close games at some point in his future, but he's probably a bit behind in the pecking order for 2015 at the moment.

Baez has become one of the Dodgers' more reliable relievers, posting a 1.86 ERA in 19.1 innings.
His K:BB is a modest 14:5, but the hard-throwing Baez (96 mph fastball) has been a godsend for manager Don Mattingly.
