RHP Hisashi Iwakuma made his 100th start in the majors and was on the losing end of the 12th all-time matchup of Japanese pitchers. He allowed four runs and eight hits over seven innings Sunday, including a two-run home run to New York DH Alex Rodriguez in the second inning. Asked about facing former Japan Pacific League teammate, RHP Masahiro Tanaka, Iwakuma said: "I was very excited to face, you know, your ex-teammate. Just watching him, in general, he was pitching with composure and he kept the ball down."

RHP Hisashi Iwakuma got touched up for eight hits in his Monday start against Texas, but he was able to wiggle out of it with only three runs allowed over six innings. Iwakuma struck out seven and didn't give up a home run, helping his cause, but it wasn't nearly enough to give Seattle its first win by a starting pitcher this season.

RHP Hisashi Iwakuma is scheduled to face the Rangers for the second time in less than a week when the Mariners host Texas on Monday night. Iwakuma helped beat the Rangers 10-2 last Tuesday, allowing six hits and two runs while settling with a no-decision over five innings. Iwakuma walked three batters in that game, something he did only three times over his 48 combined starts during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Since 2013, Iwakuma owns an 8-1 record and 2.92 ERA against Texas.

RHP Hisashi Iwakuma failed a physical with the Dodgers, then re-signed with Seattle on a 1-year deal with vesting options for 2017 and '18.Iwakuma initially agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with the Dodgers on Dec. 6. The financial terms of his new contract weren't announced. Iwakuma rejected Seattle's $15.8 million qualifying offer when free agency began. He also turned down the Mariners' two-year, $30 million offer shortly before the agreement with the Dodgers.Iwakuma, 34, was limited to 20 starts last season due to a strained lat muscle, and he went 9-5 with a 3.54 ERA. He is 47-35 with a 3.17 ERA in four seasons for the Mariners.

Iwakuma was great yet again on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on nine hits while striking out eight across seven innings in a no-decision against the A's.
Iwakuma has been fantastic over his last seven games, as his ERA is barely above two with a WHIP right around 1.10. The strikeouts have been great as well, as he has at least six in five of the seven starts. This is a great sign going into next season, as there were major question marks coming into this year.

Iwakuma picked up the loss Sunday, as he allowed three runs on eight hits in 7.1 innings against the Angels.
While Iwakuma pitched fairly well against the Angels, he only struck out one batter, by far the lowest total of the season. The 33-year-old has certainly picked up his play towards the end of the season --- in 33 innings during the month of September, he posted a 2.18 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with a 29:33 K:BB --- and will likely be an interesting name in re-draft leagues heading into next year. His last start of the season will be Saturday against the A's.

Iwakuma was outstanding Tuesday, striking out 10 while allowing three hits and one walk over seven shutout innings against the Royals.
Iwakuma is 7-2 in his past nine starts and he has a 19:1 K:BB over his last 13 innings. Look for Iwakuma to continue to finish the season strong and head into next year as a trendy No. 3 starter in fantasy leagues. His next start comes Sunday in Anaheim.

Iwakuma (8-4) was fantastic on Wednesday, as he struck out nine Angels over six one-run innings in a 3-1 win. He allowed just four hits and no walks.
Iwakuma had to make just 84 pitches to get through his six innings and it was a bit of s surprise to see him pulled so early. Aside from a seven-run outing on August 24, Iwakuma has been fantastic over his last nine starts, allowing three runs or less in every start. The strikeout total was his highest of the season and it's a good sign for the remainder of the season. Look for Iwakuma to put in another strong start against the Royals next Tuesday in his next scheduled start.

Iwakuma (7-4) hurled a quality start in a losing effort on Friday, as he struck out six batters across 6.1 innings while allowing eight hits in a 4-2 loss to the Rockies.
Iwakuma was cruising through six innings, but allowed two consecutive hits and then a three run-bomb to rookie catcher Dustin Garneau. Aside from a seven-run outing on August 24, Iwakuma has not allowed more than three runs in any of his last eight starts. The leash has been short though as well as Iwakuma has not gotten out of the seventh inning in any start except for his no-hitter on August 12. Iwakuma's next start comes on Wednesday against the struggling Angels offense.

Iwakuma (7-3) pitched well on Sunday, giving up one run on five hits and a walk while striking out three batters over 6.1 innings in a 3-2 victory over the A's.
Billy Butler's solo home run with one out in the seventh inning accounted for the only extra base against Iwakuma on the afternoon, as the 33-year-old stifled any potential rallies with eight groundball outs. He's slated to get the start at home against the Rockies on Friday.
Wed Sep 2 201515:35Iwakuma's next start pushed back to Sunday
Iwakuma's next start has been pushed back to Sunday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Iwakuma was initially slated to take the hill Friday against Oakland, but the Mariners have since adjusted the rotation. Edgar Olmos will take Iwakuma's spot Friday, followed by Felix Hernandez on Saturday, with Iwakuma finishing out the series on Sunday.

Iwakuma (6-3) was effectively inefficient on Saturday, as he allowed two runs on seven hits and four walks over 5.2 innings while striking out six in a win against the White Sox.
It was definitely not the sharpest of outings for Iwakuma, but the bullpen bailed him out of a jam, while Jeff Samardzija gave him a nice lead. This is the most amount of walks Iwakuma has given up all season and it's not like him to have such poor control. Iwakuma will look to be more efficient against the A's next Friday.

Iwakuma gave up seven runs on as many hits in 4.2 innings in his third loss Monday against Oakland. He struck out four and walked one.
Iwakuma was cruising through the first four innings before he gave up seven runs in the fifth, the first time he has failed to pitch five innings this season and the most runs he has allowed in an inning in his career. Iwakuma had allowed a 1.51 ERA in 35.2 innings preceding the blowup with a 31:6 K:BB, but his season ERA is now up to 4.29.

Iwakuma gave up two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six in seven innings Tuesday against the Rangers.
This was a great encore to Iwakuma's no-hitter in his last outing, as he needed just 99 pitches to complete seven frames Tuesday. He really seems to be rounding into form down the stretch and should once again be in high demand on draft in 2016 if he can finish this season healthy. He is in line for a two-start week next week, with his first outing coming Monday at home against the A's.

Iwakuma threw a no-hitter Thursday against the Orioles, walking three.
It was the fourth no-hitter in the majors this season and first in the AL since Felix Hernandez's perfect game in 2012. It was the fifth in franchise history. Iwakuma threw 116 pitches after throwing a career-high 118 in his previous start. He had all of his pitches working, including splitter that helped induce 12 groundball outs.

Iwakuma (3-2) gave up three runs on six hits over seven innings while striking out six in a 4-3 win over the Rangers on Friday.
Since his return in early July, Iwakuma has had two bad starts and five good starts. In the two bad starts he had more fly ball outs and in the good starts he had more ground ball outs. This probably shows us that his splitter and sinker are sharp in his good starts and not in his bad starts. A 3.39 xFIP would indicate his 4.47 ERA is a bit unfair and he should be just fine going forward. He hosts the Orioles in his next start on Wednesday.

Iwakuma fell to 2-2 after allowing six runs on 10 hits and a walk over 5.2 innings in Tuesday's start against Arizona. He struck out five.
Iwakuma had been on fire over his previous three starts, with a 1.74 ERA and 18 strikeouts against four walks in 20.2 innings. His 5.10 ERA is ugly, but he's been much better in July despite Tuesday's blip. He ends the month with 26 strikeouts against just five walks.
