The righty did admit that he still felt "a little achy" but thinks the session was "a step in the right direction." Floyd will be tested more in his next session, as he'll throw more pitches and will mix in breaking balls. He's hopeful of returning in mid-September when first eligible.

Sun Sep 2 201222:35Floyd (elbow) set to throw bullpen session
Gavin Floyd (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Monday for the first time since being placed on the disabled list.
Floyd is moving in the right direction, but there's no timetable for his return, and he isn't a lock to make it back this season. "First he has to throw out there without pain," manager Robin Ventura said. "Then you go from there. He still has a little bit of pain (in his elbow). I wouldn't be comfortable even setting a time for him to pitch right now."

Tue Jun 26 201222:55Gavin Floyd hurls seven shutout frames
Gavin Floyd hurled seven shutout innings, scattering five hits and no walks against the Twins on Tuesday.
He struck out nine in the victory, shaving his ERA from 5.20 to 4.80. Prior to Floyd's start on June 20, he had gone six straight outings without a quality start, a horrific one-month stretch in which he resembled a batting practice coach. Since that time, he's cut his ERA by nearly a run. The talent has always been there, as has the inconsistency. One would need Biff's Sports Almanac from the future to know how Floyd will pitch through September.

Gavin Floyd held the Cubs to just four hits in 6 1/3 scoreless innings of Wednesday's 7-0 win.
Floyd struck out four and walked one in improving to 5-7. Amazingly, the quality start was his first in seven outings. He'll bring a 5.20 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 76/24 K/BB ratio into his Tuesday tilt with the Twins in Minnesota.

Fri Jun 15 201200:28Floyd struggles again in loss to Cardinals
Gavin Floyd had another rough outing in a loss to the Cardinals on Thursday, giving up five runs on eight hits in just 4 2/3 innings of work.
Floyd struck out five but also walked four in the game. He looks completely lost at the moment and has now allowed four or more earned runs in each of his last six outings. Floyd has seen his ERA rise every season since 2008, and at 5.63 it doesn't appear poised to come back down any time soon. The White Sox may be best served considering replacement options to get Floyd out of the rotation, as he's currently a huge detriment to the team and its playoff chances. He'll attempt to get back on track when he battles the cross-town Cubs at U.S. Cellular Field on Tuesday.
