Fri Jun 8 201223:29Floyd fans nine in losing effort vs Astros
Gavin Floyd struck out nine batters, but still allowed four runs on four hits and two walks over six innings in a loss to the Astros on Friday night.
Yet again, it was the home run ball that brought about Floyd's demise in this outing. Brett Wallace hit a solo shot in the second inning, and Jed Lowrie added a two-run blast in fifth. With the loss, Floyd drops to 4-6 on the season. And he's also sporting a 5.38 ERA. He'll look to get back on track when he squares off against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Thursday.

Sat Jun 2 201220:27Floyd hit hard by Mariners
Gavin Floyd was hit hard in a no decision against the Mariners on Saturday, giving up five runs on nine hits over his five innings of work.
Floyd struck out four and didn't walk a batter in the game. As was the problem with Hector Noesi on the other side of the diamond, Floyd was a victim of the long ball in this one. All of the runs scored against him came courtesy of big flies from Michael Saunders, Justin Smoak and a pair from Ichiro Suzuki. He remains 4-5 on the season, but raises his ERA to an unimpressive 5.32. He'll attempt to get back in the win column when he takes on the Astros at home on Friday.

Sun May 27 201218:03Gavin Floyd roughed up in win
Gavin Floyd got hit hard in Sunday's 12-6 win over the Indians, allowing five runs on 10 hits in just five innings of work.
Not a good day for Floyd, who allowed a three-run homer to Johnny Damon in the second, but he got bailed out by his offense. Now 4-5 on the year, Floyd has compiled a 5.02 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 54/17 K/BB ratio through 61 innings. He'll get the Mariners at home next Saturday.

Thu May 17 201201:09Gavin Floyd roughed up by Halos
Gavin Floyd got lit up by the light-hitting Angels in Wednesday's loss, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in six innings of work.
Floyd allowed two home runs, one of which was a three-run shot to Albert Pujols. Pujols, of course, entered this evening with only one bomb on the season. Floyd's worst start of the year marks the third time in eight outings he's allowed five or more runs, and balloons his 2.53 ERA to 3.44. He should be able to get back on track on Tuesday when the White Sox host the Twins.

Fri May 11 201223:05Floyd masterful again in win over Royals
Gavin Floyd turned in another dominating performance on Friday, limiting the Royals to just five hits over 7 2/3 scoreless innings.
Floyd racked up five strikeouts and walked two in the game. He's now 3-3 on the season with an impressive 2.53 ERA and 42/13 strikeout to walk ratio through the season's first 46 1/3 innings. He'll look to keep the trend of domination going as he takes on the Angels in Anaheim next week.

Sat May 5 201218:59Floyd strong in no decision
Gavin Floyd turned in a strong effort against the Tigers on Saturday, allowing just two runs on seven hits through seven innings of work.
Floyd struck out six and didn't walk a batter in the game. He allowed both runs in the second inning, on a pair of seeing eye singles through the left side of the infield. He rebounded nicely after that, and did enough to keep his team in the game, allowing them to rally late and pick up a victory. Floyd remains 2-3 on the season, but lowers his ERA to an impressive 3.03. He'll look to carry over the momentum from this strong performance when he takes on the Royals next weekend.

Wed Apr 25 201200:57Gavin Floyd a hard-luck loser to A's
Gavin Floyd limited the A's to one run and two hits in 7 1/3 innings Tuesday but still took a loss.
Not much luck for Floyd. It's the second time in four starts this season the White Sox have been shut out with him on the mound. He's 1-3 with a 3.60 ERA.

Sun Apr 8 201223:19Gavin Floyd gives up three homers in loss
Gavin Floyd gave up five runs -- four earned -- in 5 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Rangers.
Floyd allowed just five hits, but three of them found their way into the seats of the one AL ballpark that's even more homer-friendly than his own. He has another tough assignment coming up at home against the Tigers, so he's a weak play in mixed leagues this week.

Mon Apr 2 201218:30Floyd ends spring on sour note
Gavin Floyd allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings of Monday's loss to the Brewers.
He struck out four, and served up a solo home run to Brooks Conrad. The rough outing gives Floyd a final Cactus League ERA of 6.64 to go along with a 16/9 K/BB ratio posted over 20 1/3 innings. Thrilling numbers from an inconsistency righty who put up a 4.37 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 151/45 K/BB ratio in 193 2/3 innings a season ago. He's a roster filler in 10-12 team mixed leagues.

Wed Mar 28 201220:10Gavin Floyd lit up by Rockies
Gavin Floyd was pummeled by the Rockies Wednesday, allowing eight runs on seven hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings of work.
He recorded four strikeouts and served up a dinger to Dexter Fowler. Floyd had pitched pretty well up to this point this spring, and even if he hadn't, we wouldn't be worried about the veteran. He posted a 4.37 ERA and career-best 1.16 WHIP last season.

Tue Mar 13 201208:42Jays, White Sox might not be talking Floyd
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that "there's no evidence of ongoing talks" between the White Sox and Blue Jays involving right-handed starter Gavin Floyd.
Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports heard Monday that the Jays were "still in pursuit" of Floyd and had been discussing a trade with the Pale Hose since the start of spring training. But perhaps there's no fire to that smoke. Floyd, 28, posted a 4.37 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 193 2/3 innings last season. He's owed $7.5 million this year.

Mon Mar 12 201215:09Report: Jays still in pursuit of Gavin Floyd
According to FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi, the Blue Jays remain in pursuit of Gavin Floyd.
A source told Morosi that the Jays have been talking to the White Sox about acquiring Floyd since spring training opened, and remain in contact here in early march. The 28-year-old right-hander registered a 4.37 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 193 2/3 innings last season for Chicago. He's owed $7.5 million in 2012 and carries a $9.5 million club option for 2013.

Sun Mar 4 201210:22Gavin Floyd an option for Jays, Red Sox?
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe writes that Gavin Floyd "continues to be a focus of teams looking for one more starter."
Cafardo says Floyd "could be in play" for the Blue Jays or Red Sox, but the White Sox "don't appear eager" to move the right-hander. However, Floyd could become a prime trade target of teams at the deadline if the Sox are out of the playoff picture. The veteran right-hander has a $9.5 million option for 2013 before hitting free agency.

Wed Jan 18 201213:50Report: Red Sox still interested in RHP Floyd
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Red Sox are still showing interest in a trade for Gavin Floyd.
The Red Sox discussed potential trades for Floyd and John Danks during the Winter Meetings last month, but nothing came to fruition. However, Morosi reported on Tuesday that the White Sox are "still listening to offers" on Floyd. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to earn $7.5 million this season while his contract includes a $9.5 club option for 2013. There are only a couple of quality options left on the free agent market, so the White Sox could net a nice package of prospects from a team desperate to add a starter prior to spring training.

Tue Jan 17 201209:35White Sox still listening to offers for Floyd
According to FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi, the White Sox are "still listening to offers" for Gavin Floyd.
Floyd drew some trade interest earlier this winter from the Orioles, but negotiations didn't get very far. Now, with spring training approaching, teams could find themselves a little more desperate to add a quality starting pitcher. Floyd, a 28-year-old right-hander, posted a 4.37 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 193 2/3 innings last season. He's owed $7.5 million in 2012.

Fri Dec 23 201118:07Report: White Sox could still deal RHP Floyd
According to Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com, the White Sox could still trade Gavin Floyd this offseason.
The White Sox reached a five-year, $65 million extension with John Danks earlier this week, but that doesn't mean they are keeping their starting rotation intact. Floyd is set to earn $7.5 million next season while his contract includes a $9.5 club option for 2013, so he could have plenty of appeal with so few quality starters left in free agency. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a disappointing 4.37 ERA this past season, but has made at least 30 starts in four straight years.

Tue Dec 6 201120:17Orioles interested in Floyd, Quentin
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles are interested in the White Sox' Gavin Floyd and Carlos Quentin.
Connolly cautions, though, that "there may not be a match." White Sox GM Kenny Williams is certainly willing to trade Quentin, but there have been indications that Floyd could stay put. The Sox appear to be in firesale mode, though, so all bets are off as far as who Williams could barter.

Fri Dec 2 201110:40White Sox leaning towards keeping Floyd
Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Gavin Floyd "has been asked about but not offered up" by the White Sox.
Both Floyd's and John Danks' names have come up often in trade rumors, but it appears that the Sox would prefer to deal Danks. Floyd is set to earn $7.5 million in 2012 and the team has a $9.5 million option on him for $13, while Danks can be a free agent after next season. The righty held a 4.37 ERA and 1.16 WHIP this season for the Sox while making at least 30 starts for the fourth season in a row.

Sun Sep 25 201118:05Gavin Floyd K's 10 but still loses to Royals
Gavin Floyd struck out 10 Royals Sunday and allowed only two runs on three hits and two walks over eight stellar innings, but he still suffered a loss in the one-run defeat.
Floyd was brilliant, but journeyman Luis Mendoza was just a little bit better. His one mistake was a two-run double he served up to Jarrod Dyson in the sixth inning, and that's all it took for him to fall to 12-13. Floyd made 30 starts for the fourth straight season and finished with a 4.37 ERA and 1.16 WHIP, which is easily the best mark of his career. It's possible he could be trade bait over the offseason.

Fri Sep 23 201108:26Floyd wouldn't be surprised to get traded
Gavin Floyd said he wouldn't be surprised if he got traded over the offseason.
"The funny thing is when I was traded (back in 2006), it was the last thing on my mind,'' Floyd said. "I've been a part of trade talks the last two or three years.'' The White Sox will surely shake up the roster after a disappointing 2011, and dealing Floyd, who is due $7 million in 2012 with a $9.5 club option for 2013, is on the table. He's had another nice year, posting a 4.46 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 141/43 K/BB ratio over 185 2/3 innings.
