Thu Mar 13 201413:11Marvin Williams getting MRI on lower back
Marvin Williams (strained lower back) is being scheduled for an MRI.
Williams missed Thurday's practice a day after scoring just two points in 21 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Mavericks. Utah's next game is against the Clippers on Friday, so the Jazz will await the results of his MRI before making a determination on his status for the game. We'll consider him questionable for now, but Jeremy Evans and Richard Jefferson would stand to see some increased run if Williams is unable to play.

Tue Mar 11 201401:59Williams scores 18 points against old team
Marvin Williams scored 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting (1-of-4 from deep, 5-of-6 from the line) with six rebounds and three steals against his old Hawks squad in the Jazz's 112-110 loss on Monday.
Just when we thought we were out Williams pulls us back in, all following a report that his heel injury was holding him back. It's going to take more than one good night before we dismiss the disappearing act of the last 2-3 weeks, but a healthy Williams has a fan in Ty Corbin and earlier in the year he was a solid late round value so we'll be watching.

Mon Mar 10 201421:00Marvin Williams dealing with heal issue
Marvin Williams is dealing with heel and other undisclosed injuries according to NBA.com.
That would explain the recent nosedive and it's admirable that he exceeded expectations the way he did earlier in the season -- but this was the inevitable conclusion for a player breaking down at the tail-end of his career. Until he shows that he can be healthy and productive, he can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Fri Mar 7 201423:49Williams' nose dive continues in 27-pt loss
Marvin Williams' nosedive continued in Friday's blowout loss to the Knicks, as he hit just 1-of-7 shots for three points, five boards and one block in 19 minutes.
Williams just hasn't been anywhere near the player he was before the trade deadline. Normally we wouldn't put a ton of stock in a blowout like this but the Jazz are in plenty of them and Williams is a mess. Props to him for being relevant for the first half of the year but he's back to being waiver wire fodder.

Sun Mar 2 201421:00Marvin Williams struggles w/ fouls vs. Pacers
Marvin Williams was mired in foul trouble and only played 15 minutes vs. the Pacers, scoring five points with one 3-pointer, one rebound and one block.
Richard Jefferson played 20 minutes, himself in foul trouble, and the result was more playing time for reserves Jeremy Evans, Enes Kanter and Alec Burks. Marvin should get back into the 20-minute range on Tuesday but he has just one double-digit scoring game in the past 10 days and isn't an appealing fantasy option.

Mon Feb 24 201423:57Marvin Williams scores 19 points vs. Celtics
Marvin Williams bounced back from a bad two-game stretch with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting (including two threes), seven rebounds, two steals and one block over 23 minutes in Monday's win over the Celtics.
Just when you think you're out -- Marvin Williams pulls you back in. He has posted a top 85-115 value (9/8 cat) on a per-game basis this season and while it feels like he could fall off at any time, at some point those numbers have to be respected by owners. It doesn't hurt that he might by Ty Corbin's favorite player.

Sat Feb 22 201423:54Marvin Williams awful in loss to Wolves
Marvin Williams hit 2-of-3 shots for five points, two rebounds, a block and a 3-pointer in just 18 minutes on Saturday.
He was in foul trouble, picking up four of them in his limited minutes, and has really cooled off. He's attempted just six shots over his last two games and scored a total of nine. We'd like to tell you it's just a slump and he'll bounce back, but we can't do it, as this is Marvin Williams we're talking about. The run appears to be over.

Thu Feb 13 201402:17Marvin Williams gets back on track in win
Marvin Williams hit 5-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for 13 points and 14 rebounds in Wednesday's win over the Sixers.
Williams got some help by the early departure of Derrick Favors (hip) tonight, but has been playing well recently, for the most part. Marvin crushed the hopes of fantasy owners who started him on Tuesday, as he had just nine points in 22 minutes, but outside of that one, he's been hot over his past five games. And even with Tuesday's dud, Marvin is still averaging 17.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.6 3-pointers over that stretch. And until he crawls back into a hole, he's worthy of owning in almost all leagues right now.

Wed Feb 12 201401:32Marvin Williams quiet in win over Lakers
Marvin Williams finally fell back to earth on Tuesday with nine points, seven rebounds and a 3-pointer on 4-of-8 shooting in a win over the Lakers.
Williams came into this one on fire, scoring either 21 or 23 points in each of his last three games, to go along with 11 3-pointers. He looked a lot more like the Marvin we all know tonight, and it's possible his run is over.

Sun Feb 9 201400:26Marvin Williams stays hot, scores 23 in win
Marvin Williams kept his hot streak going on Saturday night during a 94-89 win over the Heat, shooting 9-of-15 from the field for 23 points with three rebounds, one assist, one block and five 3-pointers.
It's his third consecutive game with at least 21 points and he's pumped in 11 treys over that span. Williams had a nice little run back in November, but he's really been quiet up until now and it seems inevitable for him to fall off. That said, it makes sense to pick him up and ride him until that happens, assuming there's someone on your team you're willing to part with.

Sat Feb 8 201401:14Williams hits career-high five threes
Marvin Williams tied a career-high with five 3-pointers in Friday's loss to the Mavs, and finished with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting, five rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes.
As long as Williams isn't overly injured he should be in many starting lineups and he should most certainly be owned in all standard formats. He has top 80-110 value on a per-game basis in 9- and 8-cat leagues, respectively.

Tue Feb 4 201403:16Marvin Williams scores 23 pts w/ eight boards
Marvin Williams scored 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting (including a three) with eight rebounds and two steals over 40 minutes in the Jazz's 94-79 loss to the Raptors on Monday.
Ty Corbin loves him some Marvin. With top 80-110 value on the season perhaps we shouldn't have been so quick to discard Williams with a deep-league 'watch' grade, and owners in 12-team standard formats can go ahead and make the add.

Sun Feb 2 201401:51Marvin Williams goes for 9-10-5 in loss
Marvin Williams returned from his Achilles injury on Saturday and had nine points, 10 rebounds and five assists, but hit just 3-of-11 shots and was 0-for-5 from downtown.
Williams had 16 points, 11 boards, a steal and two 3-pointers in his previous game, and could be ready to heat up for the Jazz. Deep leaguers should keep an eye on him as long as he's starting for the Jazz.

Sat Feb 1 201421:32Marvin Williams returning from Achilles issue
Marvin Williams (Achilles) will play against the Clippers on Saturday.
He sat out on Friday due to soreness in his Achilles. Williams had surgery on his heel in the offseason and returned a little sooner than expected, so it's not a surprise to see him having some problems. His minutes way go down from his season average of 25.9 per game the rest of the way.

Fri Jan 31 201421:53Marvin Williams out vs. Warriors on Friday
Marvin Williams (Achilles) will not play against the Warriors on Friday.
His surgically-repaired Achilles is acting up on him and this could linger for a while. Williams' role in the offense has been on its way down and he's not worth owning in most leagues, especially after this news.

Fri Jan 31 201415:24Marvin Williams (heel) is a game-time call
Marvin Williams (heel) is a game-time decision to face the Warriors on Friday.
The Jazz have five players listed as game-time decisions tonight, including four starters. Williams is battling some soreness to his surgically-repaired Achilles, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him sit out. The Jazz have been off since Monday, meaning this is a bit of a red flag. He's not worth owning in most leagues.

Tue Jan 28 201400:06Marvin posts 16 and 11 against the Kings
Marvin Williams scored 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting (2-of-5 from deep, 4-of-4 from the line) with 11 rebounds and a steal in Friday's win over the Kings.
Williams slowed down a week or so ago and it could have been due to illness, and Ty Corbin also mentioned today how beat up he has been getting playing the power forward position. With solid late-round value on the year he should be owned in most standard formats.

Sat Jan 18 201419:48Ty Corbin praises Marvin Williams on Sat.
Ty Corbin singled out Marvin Williams before Saturday's game for ball movement and offensive execution.
Williams scored 17 points on Friday night and has continued as the starter. The Jazz seem content in brining Enes Kanter off the bench, which could make him a little more inconsistent. Williams' was really struggling before Friday, so there's no reason to pick him up. In other words, the bottom line is Kanter seems like he's going to be coming off the bench for a while.

Fri Jan 17 201423:14Marvin Williams scores 17 pts in road victory
Marvin Williams neared his season-high in scoring with 17 points vs. Detroit, making 7-of-11 field goals with two 3-pointers, seven rebounds and one block.
He did his damage in a mere 22 minutes as the Jazz earned a rare blowout on the road, and this doesn't affect his rest-of-season outlook. For perspective, consider that the nine-year veteran was coming off a scoreless outing vs. the Spurs on Wednesday.

Tue Jan 14 201402:19Williams (illness) plays on Monday vs. DEN
Marvin Williams (illness) played on Monday against the Nuggets, scoring seven points on 3-of-6 shooting with one 3-pointer, three boards, two assists and one steal in 24 minutes.
Williams also had three turnovers and he's been sliding, but owners will want to wait and see if the illness is really the culprit here. Unless you're staring at a mid-to-high level free agent, wait another game or two in standard leagues to see where this is heading.
