SF Chandler Parsons (nine points on 3-of-6 shooting) started and played 14 minutes in the first half. He didn't play in the second half, as the team is monitoring his minutes. Parsons is coming back from offseason knee surgery."He's doing well," coach Rick Carlisle said. "We certainly could have used him in the second half, but that's just not in the cards. We're going to keep going on like this for a while."Parsons, though, isn't completely sold on the cautious strategy. He suggested moving his minutes to crunch time.

Thu Oct 22 201513:25Chandler Parsons: Plays 5-on-5 Thursday
Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons will not play in the preseason finale against the Chicago Bulls on Friday while recovering from knee surgery, according to the team's official website.
Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons will not play in the preseason finale against the Chicago Bulls on Friday while recovering from knee surgery, according to the team's official website. Parsons played five-on-five for the first time Thursday since undergoing the procedure in May, but he remains unsure if he will be ready to play in the regular-season opener against the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 28. "Every day, I’m starting to feel more and more back to how I used to,” Parsons told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “There hasn’t been much pain or swelling, but the hardest thing is just being patient and not getting too frustrated about not being out there. It kills me to not practice and miss these preseason games. But the biggest thing is to be smart, and that’s what I’m doing. [The medical staff] had a routine for me, and I’ve been doing that to the T, and the leg has been responding very well. So I’m happy with the progress I’ve made and I feel like I’m really, really close.”

Parsons (knee) may be sidelined for all seven of the Mavericks' preseason games, Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Parsons said prior to training camp that his primary concern was making sure he was fully healthy for opening night, and that objective hasn't changed. The forward isn't believed to have suffered any setbacks in his recovery from microfracture surgery, but he'll need to log at least a few full practices with the Mavericks before getting the green light to see game action.
Mon Sep 28 201515:25Parsons (knee) may be ready for Mavericks' opener
Parsons (knee) may be ready for the Mavericks' opener, Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News reports.
This news comes via coach Rick Carlisle, who sounded very non-committal when speaking about the statuses of Parsons and Wes Matthews, respectively. Parsons will not be ready when training camp begins, but he hopes to ramp up his activity in hopes of working up to full speed by the end of October. Interestingly, Carlisle also noted that Parsons may see some minutes at point guard this season for the new-look Mavs. "I think we'll be able to play small and big," Carlisle said. "At some point, you might even see [Chandler] Parsons at point guard."
Mon Sep 21 201510:44Parsons (knee) will not be available at start of training camp
Parsons (knee) will not be available at the start of training camp, ESPN Dallas reports.
Parsons is recovering from surgery to address a cartilage problem in his right knee. Parsons, along with teammates Wesley Matthews and JaVale McGee, will be handled conservatively to start the season with each player carrying a different timeframe. He will enter the year with a fair amount of risk but could be available by the start of the regular season.

Parsons (knee surgery) posted a video on Instagram last week that showed him taking low-impact three-point shots.
It's unclear what this means for Parsons' recovery, and it's particularly hard to pinpoint his recovery timetable, because the Mavs never released exactly what procedure Parsons underwent to fix his knee injury. Rumors of microfracture surgery have put a spectre over his return timetable, leaving some to believe the Mavs are covertly tanking this season after they signed Wesley Matthews this offseason, whom is coming back from a ruptured Achilles. If you're drafting anytime soon, it's probably best to let someone else draft Parsons and assume the risk currently associated with his return from surgery. Until the Mavs lay all the cards on the table or we see Parsons in five-on-five action, it's hard to recommend drafting him this season.

Parsons (knee) is off his crutches and says he'll be ready for the Mavericks' season opener, Earl Sneed of Mavs.com reports.
Parsons' availability for training camp remains up in the air, but the words of encouragement and the reported improvement in his recovery are still a very good sign for the Mavericks. Considering how valuable Parsons is for the future of this team, the Mavericks aren't going to take any chances and rush him back. It wouldn't be surprising to see him miss a bunch of time leading up to the season.
Sun Jun 14 201517:15Chandler Parsons: (Knee) Expected To Play Bigger Role Next Season
Parsons (knee) is expected to play a larger role in the Mavs' offense next season, the Mavs' official site reports. "As the season went on, his responsibilities grew. And they will continue to grow going forward," coach Rick Carlisle said.
Monta Ellis can opt out of the final year of his deal and become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and while he fit in well with the Mavs over the last two seasons, there's a good chance Ellis will look to move on to another team this offseason. If he leaves, Parsons could be asked to be the Mavs' go-to option on offense next season, serving both as a facilitator and scorer. Putting a bit of a damper on this good news is the fact that Parsons underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee May 1st, and he's unsure if he'll be ready for the start of training camp. Any missed time in training camp could open the door for someone else to eat away at the scope of Parsons' role next season. It'll be worth keeping an eye on going into training camp.

Parsons (knee) said he's unsure if he'll be ready for the start of training camp, Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Parsons underwent surgery earlier this month, but the team is curiously declining to say what type of procedure took place. When asked Thursday if he underwent microfracture surgery, Parsons said, "I don't think they want me to answer whether it was or not." That's certainly not an overly encouraging statement, and it leads to the belief that Parsons' injury could have been more severe than the team was letting on. Either way, Parsons will be sidelined for most of the offseason, and it sounds as though Dallas is prepared to begin camp without him.
Fri May 1 201516:04Chandler Parsons: (Knee) Undergoes Surgery
Parsons (knee) underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday, Earl Sneed of Mavs.com reports.
The procedure will address a cartilage injury, which cost Parsons a number of games down the stretch. The team is yet to provide a recovery timetable, but the fact that he only had the knee scoped - there was a chance he would need microfracture surgery - means the recovery timeline shouldn't be more than a couple of months. That said, it's best to wait until the team hands down an official timetable.

Parsons will see a specialist in Chicago next week to receive a third opinion on the procedure required for his knee issue, ESPN reports.
Parsons stated earlier that he's unsure about his status for the beginning of training camp next season. The final visit to the doctor could clear things up a bit, as he remains without a timetable for surgery. Once the required operation occurs, a clearer picture of his status should be made available.
Thu Apr 23 201514:52Parsons (knee) said no date set for surgery
Parsons (knee) said no date has been set for surgery, but he noted that he's unsure if he'll be ready for training camp next season, Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
The details as far as what injury, specifically, Parsons is dealing with are still murky, but the swingman did note that he has no torn ligaments or structural damage. While a date for surgery has not been set, the Mavericks will likely expedite the process as much as possible with the hope that Parsons is not limited when camp opens at the end of the summer. Parsons, of course, will not play again this season.
Wed Apr 22 201517:20Chandler Parsons: (Knee) Done For Season
Parsons (knee) will miss the rest of the postseason and could require surgery, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
Parsons, who played 37 minutes in the series opener, was held out of Tuesday's Game 2 after pain and swelling resurfaced in his right knee. The Rockets are yet to provide an official diagnosis, though the fact that surgery is being considered indicates that it's a fairly severe issue. In his absence, Richard Jefferson will likely continue to fill in as the starting small forward, while Al-Farouq Aminu should pick up some extra run off the bench. Aminu and Jefferson each played 23 minutes Tuesday, scoring nine and seven points, respectively.
Tue Apr 21 201520:44Chandler Parsons: Out Tuesday, Possibly For Series
Parsons (knee), who was ruled out of Tuesday's Game 2, could be at risk of missing the remainder of the Mavericks' first-round series with the Rockets, Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Coach Rick Carlisle announced a few hours before Tuesday's game that Parsons wouldn't play after his knee failed to respond as quickly as the team had hoped. Parsons will now be subjected to a visit with the team doctor Wednesday morning for a more thorough assessment, after which the Mavericks should have a better idea on his availability for the remainder of the series. Richard Jefferson is expected to start in Parsons' place Tuesday, while Al-Farouq Aminu should also be the beneficiary of more minutes in Parsons' absence.
