Fri Oct 5 201201:06Pettis could be in line for the slot role
Austin Pettis caught one pass for six yards in Week 5.
Pettis saw just two targets, but with Danny Amendola now out for a month or more with a broken collarbone, Pettis could be the next man up in the slot for the Rams. He's got reliable hands and is someone to keep an eye on moving forward.

Sun Sep 30 201217:27Austin Pettis makes two catches in win
Austin Pettis caught two passes for 22 yards in St. Louis' Week 4 win over the Seahawks.
The catches were Pettis' first of the season, as he was suspended for Weeks 1 and 2. He was targeted only twice. It would be a surprise if Pettis becomes a consideration in PPR leagues.

Mon Sep 17 201213:48Austin Pettis comes off suspension
Rams WR Austin Pettis has been reinstated from the suspended list.
Pettis was serving the final two games of a four-game ban for violating the league's PED policy. Pettis is returning via a one-day roster exemption, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that he'll be waived Tuesday. It's unlikely after he turned in a strong camp, however. Regardless, Pettis will be buried at the bottom of the Rams' muddled depth chart, and won't be a consideration in PPR leagues.

Thu Aug 16 201213:05Austin Pettis solidifying roster spot?
Rams WR Austin Pettis is solidifying a roster spot with a strong training camp.
One camp observer notes that Pettis is making more plays than any Rams receiver in practices while Brandon Gibson and Danario Alexander continue to fall behind due to hamstring injuries. CBS Sports' Larry Hartstein believes Pettis, Danny Amendola, Steve Smith, Greg Salas and rookies Brian Quick and Chris Givens are "all but locks" to make the team. Pettis will miss the first two games while under suspension.

Thu Aug 9 201210:33Austin Pettis on the roster bubble?
The Post-Disptach suggests that suspended Rams WR Austin Pettis is not a lock to make the final roster.
Pettis served the first two games of his four-game suspension last season. The 2011 third-round pick now appears behind Brian Quick, Chris Givens, Steven Smith, Danny Amendola, Brandon Gibson on the depth chart. Pettis' ability to help in the punt return game should help his chances of sticking.

Wed Dec 21 201116:48Rookie WR Pettis draws four-game suspension
Rams WR Austin Pettis has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Barring a successful appeal, the Rams' third-round pick will be suspended for the final two games of this season and the first two of 2012. St. Louis' starting slot receiver since Greg Salas went down Week 9, Pettis has averaged just 2.6 catches for 27.6 yards in six games. St. Louis doesn't have an obvious candidate to man the slot in Weeks 16 and 17, but it's possible KR Nick Miller could get a look. With both Danny Amendola and Salas expected to be 100 percent healthy for training camp, there's little reason to hold onto Pettis in dynasty leagues.

Sun Dec 18 201117:47Pettis has another quiet day
Austin Pettis caught four passes for 38 yards in St. Louis' Week 15 loss to the Bengals.
Pettis was targeted nine times in his best game since coming on in relief of Greg Salas in Week 9. Averaging just 2.6 catches for 27.6 yards in six games since taking over as the Rams' primary slot receiver, Pettis is a poor own in deeper PPR leagues.

Tue Dec 13 201101:07Austin Pettis has one-catch night
Austin Pettis caught one pass for seven yards in Week 14.
Since taking over as the Rams' primary slot receiver in Week 10, Pettis is averaging just 2.4 catches for 25.6 yards. That won't even get it done in deeper PPR leagues. With Greg Salas and Danny Amendola both likely to be back in the fold for St. Louis in 2012, Pettis has little-to-no value in dynasty formats.

Sun Nov 27 201116:51Austin Pettis has another quiet day
Austin Pettis caught three passes for 45 yards in Sunday's loss.
Another quiet day from the Rams' latest slot receiver, who is averaging just 2.6 catches for 29.3 yards since taking over for Greg Salas. There's been nothing to suggest he'll turn into anything other than a bench player in deeper PPR leagues down the stretch.

Fri Nov 25 201115:40Austin Pettis listed as probable
Austin Pettis (knee) is listed as probable for Week 12.
Pettis' health, on-field role, and target counts have all been too shaky recently for fantasy confidence. He should still play in most three-receiver sets against Arizona, manning the slot between Brandon Lloyd and Brandon Gibson.

Fri Nov 25 201110:53Austin Pettis limited again on Thursday
Rams WR Austin Pettis (knee) was limited again in Thursday's practice.
The Rams are more optimistic on Pettis this week than Danario Alexander (hamstring), who has missed the last four games. Core special teamer Dominique Curry will be thrown into the offense if Pettis can't go. There's no fantasy value here regardless.

Wed Nov 23 201117:29Pettis limited on Wednesday
Austin Pettis (knee) was limited in Rams practice Wednesday.
Pettis was in-and-out of Sunday's loss to Seattle, but it's a good sign for his Week 12 status that he was able to practice today. If he's upgraded to full participation on Thursday, he should be fully expected to man the slot against Arizona.

Tue Nov 22 201111:05Austin Pettis listed as day to day
Austin Pettis (knee) has been listed as day to day.
Pettis missed a bunch of snaps last week while getting treatment on his knee. It's not a serious injury, but he won't be a fantasy option at less than 100 percent. Pettis is averaging 3.0 catches for 28.6 yards with no touchdowns over the last three weeks.

Mon Nov 21 201110:34Austin Pettis injures knee
Rams WR Austin Pettis was "in and out" of Sunday's loss with a knee injury.
Pettis was held to two catches for 12 yards on five targets, and now we know why. The fact he was able to play through the injury bodes well for his Week 12 status, but he shouldn't be considered a guarantee to suit up against the Cardinals. His status will be updated Wednesday, if not sooner.

Sun Nov 20 201120:09Austin Pettis held to two catches in loss
Austin Pettis was held to two catches for 12 yards in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks.
Pettis drew only five looks one week after being targeted four times, and hasn't taken to the slot the way fellow rookie Greg Salas did before landing on injured reserve. With the Rams' passing attack looking hopelessly out-of-sync since Sam Bradford returned from his high-ankle sprain, Pettis is worth little more than a bench stash in deeper PPR leagues.

Sun Nov 13 201117:10Austin Pettis has quiet day
Making his first start in the slot in place of Greg Salas, Austin Pettis caught three passes for 31 yards in St. Louis' win over the Browns.
Pettis drew just four targets as the Rams had problems getting the passing game going on a windy day in Cleveland. While it may not be reasonable to expect Pettis to produce at the rate Salas was before going down, he's a good bet to trail only Brandon Lloyd for targets in the season's final seven games. He's worth a bench spot in PPR leagues.

Mon Nov 7 201111:12Austin Pettis likely to man the slot in STL
Rams WR Austin Pettis caught three passes for 36 yards after Greg Salas suffered a season-ending leg injury with less than five minutes remaining in Sunday's loss.
Pettis reeled in a reception on three of St. Louis' final 16 offensive plays. With Mark Clayton's (Achilles, knee) status uncertain, Pettis will almost certainly man the slot against the Browns, and could remain there through the end of the season. Sam Bradford checks down to the slot as much as any quarterback in the league, making Pettis worth an immediate flier in PPR leagues.

Sun Oct 16 201117:08Pettis not targeted in loss to Packers
Austin Pettis was not targeted in Sunday's loss to the Packers.
Pettis was removed from the slot in favor of fellow rookie Greg Salas, who hauled in eight catches for 77 yards on 10 targets. The only time Pettis got on the field was on special teams, where he did manage a 39-yard punt return. Nevertheless, after the solid effort turned in by Salas today, it's hard to see Pettis regaining his role on offense. He can be safely dropped in all formats.

Thu Oct 6 201114:11Austin Pettis to take over as slot receiver
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Austin Pettis will take over as the slot receiver with Danny Amendola out for the season.
Pettis caught four passes for 32 yards out of the slot in Week 4. Expectations should remain low in an offense that has been killed by leaky pass protection and receivers dropping balls. Despite a complete meltdown on Monday Night Football a few weeks ago, Greg Salas will likely get another chance at some point.

Tue Oct 4 201115:43Austin Pettis held out of Tuesday's practice
Rookie WR/PR Austin Pettis was held out of the Rams' bye-week practice on Tuesday.
Returning punts for the first time since high school, Pettis took vicious hits on three kicks that should have been called for fair catches. He admitted to be being a bit "dazed" after the hits.
