Wed Jul 2 201402:26Spencer Hawes 'interested' in Blazers' offer
Spencer Hawes met with the Clippers and Warriors on Tuesday, but he's reportedly "very interested" in signing with the Trail Blazers.
"He likes everything about the Blazers," a source told the Oregonian's Joe Freeman. The Blazers have also pursued Josh McRoberts in free agency, making no secret about their desire to add a big man with 3-point range. Channing Frye is another possible target, but the Blazers may not actively pursue him until Hawes is out of the running -- working against Portland is the fact that they can't offer more than $5.3 million annually over a four-year contract.

Tue Jul 1 201412:12Spencer Hawes emerges as Blazers' top target
Spencer Hawes has emerged as the Trail Blazers' top target in free agency.
Blazers' general manager Neil Olshey and coach Terry Stotts visited representatives for Hawes in Los Angeles late Monday night shortly after free agency began and the meeting "went very well", according to reports. The most that Portland can offer the unrestricted free agent is $5.3 million per year over four years, so Hawes would be taking a bit of a pay cut from the $6.5 million he earned last season if he signs with the Blazers. The 26-year-old averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists last season and would continue to be a solid mid-level fantasy big man if he signs with Portland.

Tue Jul 1 201410:02Spencer Hawes may be too expensive for LAC
Spencer Hawes may be too expensive for the Clippers, according to the Los Angeles Times.
He is believed to be seeking a deal worth around $8 million per year, which is up around $6.5 million last year. Hawes is also getting interest from the Mavs, Rockets and Blazers, which means some team may wind up paying him what he wants.

Tue Jul 1 201401:19Hawes drawing interest from contenders
Spencer Hawes is drawing interest from contenders such as the Blazers, Clippers, Rockets and Mavs, in addition to the incumbent Cavs.
Hawes continued to produce in Cleveland after getting all he could eat in terms of touches in Philly. He's injury-prone and not the best locker room guy, but a stretch-five that isn't terrible can command a decent return these days. The Cavs and Blazers might have the inside track here as Hawes still makes his home in nearby Seattle, and Terry Stotts broke down exactly how he'd use Hawes in a recent meeting, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Sat Apr 12 201419:04Spencer Hawes a 'priority' for Cavs as FA
Spencer Hawes will be the "main priority" for the Cavaliers in free agency this summer, according to Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
"Assuming [GM David Griffin] remains the general manager, he will make a strong push to keep the center," Pluto writes. "Griffin values big men who can pass and shoot. In fact, the Cavs have been asking Hawes to shoot even more." Hawes is averaging a career-high 14.1 points and 1.8 threes per game since joining the Cavaliers, to go along with 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 blocks.

Wed Apr 2 201421:37Spencer Hawes gets hot with Varejao out
Spencer Hawes had 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four 3-pointers in Wednesday's win over the Magic.
The key here is that Anderson Varejao (shoulder) was out and could miss multiple more games. It allowed Hawes to play 34 minutes in this one and not look over his shoulder. Lock him back into all lineups.

Fri Mar 28 201422:21Spencer Hawes benched for most of 2nd half
Spencer Hawes scored 16 points with five rebounds, two assists and two blocks in just 22 minutes of action vs. the Nets on Friday.
Hawes scored all but one of his points in the first half, and his lack of defense may have prompted coach Mike Brown to rely more heavily on Anderson Varejao (eight points, 13 rebounds) in the second half. Hawes' role has taken a sharp turn for the worse since mid-March, and he's averaging a mere 21.4 minutes in Cleveland's past five games.

Wed Mar 26 201423:24Spencer Hawes very quiet in win over Pistons
Spencer Hawes hit just 2-of-4 shots for four points, six rebounds, a steal and a block in 24 minutes on Wednesday.
Hawes has seen his minutes dry up (between 17 and 24 in last four) with the strong play of Anderson Varejao lately, and has scored seven or fewer points in three of his last four games. It was a nice run, but as long as Varejao is healthy and playing, things aren't looking good for Hawes.

Wed Mar 26 201409:58Spencer Hawes vanishing in fourth quarters
Spencer Hawes hasn't played in the fourth quarter during Cleveland's past three games.
To make matters worse, he's shooting just 30.3 percent from downtown over the past two weeks and his fantasy value has plummeted during that span. Cavs coach Mike Brown has been deploying small lineups to increase his team's pace, but Hawes should at least get solid playing time vs. the oversized Pistons on Wednesday.

Sat Mar 22 201422:17Spencer Hawes falls off a cliff vs. Houston
Spencer Hawes had his worst game as a Cavalier on Saturday, making just 1-of-7 from the field for three points with two boards, two assists and one block in 17 minutes.
Omer Asik ate Hawes for lunch tonight. Hawes has been on a roll lately, so this ugly stat line is not a trend whatsoever. He's played 34.5 minutes per game over his previous 10 for averages of 16.6 points, 8.6 boards and 0.9 blocks. His owners should just cut him some slack here.

Thu Mar 20 201422:11Spencer Hawes puts up a 20 spot vs. Thunder
Spencer Hawes was hot late against the Thunder on Thursday, finishing with 20 points, three boards, three assists and three 3-pointers on 8-of-17 from the field.
He continues to put up impressive scoring numbers and he's done it in unconventional fashion. Since coming to Cleveland, Hawes has made a sub-par 52.2 percent of his shots at the rim while he's been outstanding on mid-range jumpers at 50.0 percent. He's adding two treys and one block per game with his new team and there has been very little drop off from his days in Philly.

Mon Mar 17 201400:30Spencer Hawes ejected w/ two technical fouls
Spencer Hawes scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds before being ejected from Sunday's game after picking up his second technical foul.
He played a full 34 minutes but never got going against DeAndre Jordan and the Clippers, but he should bounce back nicely against Miami's small frontcourt on Tuesday. Hawes now has 11 technicals on the season and it's something to watch, though he still has some leeway before getting a suspension on his 16th tech.

Sat Mar 15 201402:49Hawes goes for 22 and 13 in win over GSW
Spencer Hawes scored 22 points on 8-of-18 shooting with 13 rebounds, one steal and one block in Friday's road win over the Warriors.
Hawes came into the game with a mild ankle issue and obviously it wasn't a problem tonight. He has fit the Cavs' scheme very well and has been a top-40 value over the last month.

Fri Mar 14 201421:45Spencer Hawes officially playing vs. Warriors
Spencer Hawes (left ankle) is playing against the Warriors on Friday.
There wasn't much of a doubt and he was able to play in the second half after sustaining the injury on Wednesday. Hawes has been hot and his shot is falling, so get him in your lineup.

Fri Mar 14 201413:56Spencer Hawes still listed as probable
Spencer Hawes (ankle) is probable for Friday's game against the Warriors.
Hawes merely rolled his left ankle against the Suns. We're expecting another 30+ minutes out of hot-shooting 7-footer.

Thu Mar 13 201418:29Spencer Hawes (ankle) expects to play Friday
Spencer Hawes said that his injured ankle is feeling better and he expects to play vs. the Warriors on Friday.
Owners should check for updates after Cleveland's shootaround, but it sounds like Hawes will be fine. He's averaging 17.2 points, 2.8 threes, 8.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks over his past five games, and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down since Anderson Varejao's return.

Thu Mar 13 201401:16Hawes shakes off ankle to score 19 points
Spencer Hawes briefly left Wednesday's big win over the Suns with an ankle injury, but returned and finished with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting (including three treys) with six rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes.
Hawes really hasn't missed a beat since landing in Cleveland and this ankle injury doesn't seem like a big deal. As long as Anderson Varejao (15 minutes) continues a slow return to action there is nothing to worry about, and there probably isn't much to worry about in any case.

Sat Mar 8 201422:52Spencer Hawes fills the stat sheet, scores 21
Spencer Hawes stuffed the stat sheet against the Knicks on Saturday with 21 points, 10 boards, three assists, one steal, three blocks and four 3-pointers in 36 minutes.
It was his best game with the Cavs based on points and triples while also matching his best for blocks and steals. Hawes hasn't really helped the team win many games with their record of 2-7 since his arrival, but he's done a great job of putting up some stats. Anderson Varejao is going to take a while to get his legs back, so Hawes will be a must-start player for the foreseeable future.

Thu Mar 6 201418:04Hawes, Thompson likely to stick as starters
Cavaliers coach Mike Brown reiterated that he plans to keep Spencer Hawes and Tristan Thompson in the starting lineup indefinitely.
Anderson Varejao (back) is inching closer to a return but the Cavs want to limit his minutes, and with Hawes playing well as a starter it makes sense to deploy AV and Tyler Zeller with the second unit. In seven games with the Cavaliers, Hawes is posting 14.7 points, 2.1 threes (53.6 percent from downtown), 9.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks.
