Fri Jul 4 201422:23Swisher's struggles continue in Friday's loss
Nick Swisher's struggles continued in Friday's loss to the Royals, going 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts.
He also drew a walk in the ballgame, bringing his season slash to .190/.281/.310. He has hit 21 or more home runs in each of the past nine seasons, but with just five thus far in 2014, that streak is in serious jeopardy.

Thu Jun 19 201415:57Swisher hits walkoff grand slam versus LAA
Nick Swisher cranked a walkoff grand slam in the 10th inning of Thursday's 5-3 win over the Angels.
The Indians trailed by two runs heading into the bottom of the 10th, but Michael Bourn drew a leadoff walk, Jason Kipnis smacked a one-out double, and then Carlos Santana walked to load the bases. David Murphy made the second out of the frame on a fly to shallow left, but Swisher stepped in next and saved the day. It was just his fifth home run of the season. He's batting .200/.292/.329.

Sun Jun 15 201419:17Swisher hits 11th inning homer to top Red Sox
Nick Swisher hit a solo home run in the 11th inning to give the Indians a 3-2 lead over the Red Sox, and they held on to win by the same score Sunday.
Swisher was 0-for-4 before the blast, just his fourth of the season. It's been largely forgettable for the 33-year-old this year, as he's batting just .207/.303/.328. Swisher can occasionally get into one like he did on Sunday, but he's too inconsistent to be relied upon outside of AL-only leagues.

Sun Jun 8 201412:39Nick Swisher (knee) eyeing Thursday return
Nick Swisher (knee) is on track to be activated from the disabled list on Thursday.
Swisher will play in rehab games with Double-A Akron on Tuesday and Wednesday before being activated if all goes well. He's been out since late May with a hyperextended left knee but has gone through drills recently with no issues. "Everything is on track," said Swisher. "I'm a hyper guy, so it was nice to get out and move around a little bit the last two days."

Tue Jun 3 201422:08Nick Swisher (knee) nearing rehab assignment
Nick Swisher (knee) has begun "land-based" activities and believes he'll be ready for a rehab assignment soon.
Indians manager Terry Francona doesn't want to put a timetable on Swisher, but he acknowledges that his first baseman could be close to game action. "I think he's pretty upbeat about where he's at," Francona said. "[I said], 'Let's not have an artificial timetable. We want you back when you can come back and play and not be limping.' And he understands that. So at some point I'm thinking on this next road trip, he'll probably break away from us, go play a couple games and we'll see how he's doing."

Nick Swisher (knee) has been working out in a pool but could resume "land-based" drills on Monday.

Mon May 26 201418:26Nick Swisher exits game with knee injury
Nick Swisher left Monday's game against the White Sox in the eighth inning with a sore left knee.
Swisher just missed a couple games with a sore right knee, and now his other knee is bothering him. The Indians' team doctor examined him after the game and thinks the knee is structurally sound, but more will be known when he's re-evaluated Tuesday. Swisher seems likely to sit out at least a game or two even if an exam doesn't reveal anything serious.

Nick Swisher is back in the Indians' lineup Sunday.

Sat May 24 201410:03Nick Swisher remains out of Indians lineup
Nick Swisher (knee) remains out of the Indians starting lineup on Saturday.
He sustained a knee injury during Thursday's game and has now missed a pair of games as a precautionary measure. It doesn't appear as though he'll require a trip to the disabled list, so expect him to return at some point in the next few days.

Tue May 6 201421:43Swisher's two hits bring BA over Mendoza line
Nick Swisher went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Indians defeated the Twins on Tuesday.
Swisher entered the night hitting .197 and exits hitting .206. His season-long slump has been a bit shocking considering how consistent he had been in the previous five years, but he is 33 years old and is coming off of a season in which he showed the least amount of power in the previous five years. Swisher is currently sitting on a .206/.292/.325 slash line.

Mon May 5 201422:35Nick Swisher goes 0-for-4 in loss
Nick Swisher went 0-for-4 in Monday's loss to drop his average back under .200.
Swisher is in 0-for-10 and 2-for-25 slumps. He hasn't homered since April 12, and his only multi-RBI game of the year came on Apr. 4. The Indians might want to think about giving him a couple of days off. We didn't think he'd have much value in mixed leagues this year, but there was no reason to think he'd be this awful.

Thu Apr 24 201414:46Nick Swisher fans three times, commits error
Nick Swisher went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and committed his third error at first base Thursday against the Royals.
Swisher entered the day on a little bit of a roll -- he was 6-for-15 over his previous four games -- but it certainly hasn't been an April to remember for him. He's already fanned 25 times, and his defense has been particularly poor at first base. He might need a day or two off.

Sat Apr 12 201417:44Nick Swisher homers in victory over ChiSox
Nick Swisher blasted his second home run of the season, helping to power the Indians to a convincing victory over the White Sox on Saturday in Chicago.
Swisher finished the afternoon 2-for-6 with a pair of runs scored. He's been scuffling a bit at the plate, hitting just .196/.255/.333 with two homers and seven RBI in his first 12 games, so hopefully this strong effort is just what it takes to get him going.

Wed Mar 26 201418:33Swisher hits third spring homer vs. Brewers
Nick Swisher went 2-for-3 with a solo home run against the Brewers on Wednesday.
Swisher went deep against Francisco Rodriguez in the sixth inning, his third home run of the spring. His average is up to .304, which the Indians hope indicates a return to form after posting five-year lows in average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage last season.

Mon Mar 17 201419:20Swisher homers against the Reds
Nick Swisher went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run on Monday against the Reds.
Swisher went yard against Mike Leake in the fourth inning, his second of the spring. He has been slow to get things going in the Cactus League thus far, but he's reliable for at least 20 home runs. However, he is coming off of one of the worst offensive seasons in his career, posting five-year lows in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.

Sun Mar 16 201423:36Nick Swisher goes deep as Indians top Giants
Nick Swisher swatted his first home run of the Cactus League season as the Indians topped the Giants 5-1 on Sunday.
The 33-year-old finished the afternoon 2-for-3 and also drew a walk. One of the most consistent performers in the league, Swisher has hit 21 or more homers in each of his nine full seasons in the league, and is an extremely good bet to top that mark again in 2012.

Mon Dec 2 201313:13Tribe GM says Swisher's shoulder is healed
Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said Monday that Nick Swisher's shoulder is fully healed.
Swisher battled left shoulder discomfort for much of the 2013 season and there was some thought that he might eventually need surgery. But the situation has rapidly improved this winter. "He's fine," Antonetti told MLB.com's Jordan Bastian. "He's unrestricted at this point."

Mon Oct 7 201316:34Swisher (shoulder) unlikely to have surgery
Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said Monday that "all indications are" that Nick Swisher will not require surgery on his left shoulder.
Swisher's shoulder was an issue throughout the season, but the Indians are confident an offseason of rest will do the trick. The 32-year-old batted .246/.341/.423 with 22 home runs and 63 RBI in 2013 in the first year of a four-year, $56 million contract.
