Sun Nov 9 201418:26Chris Andersen: (Ribs) Out Again Sunday
Andersen (ribs) will not play Sunday against the Mavs, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Andersen will miss his fifth straight game but appears close to a return. With two days off following Sunday's contest, the Heat are likely erring on the side of caution. Expect to see more of Udonis Haslem and Shawne Williams, as Justin Hamilton (groin) is also out Sunday.
Sat Nov 8 201411:12Andersen (ribs) won't play Saturday
Andersen (ribs) won't play Saturday.
This will be the fourth straight game he will miss with the injury, and this should continue to open things up for Shawne Williams in the frontcourt.

Andersen (ribs) is not expected to play Saturday against the Timberwolves, the Associated Press reports.
Although Anderson was able to participate on a limited basis in Friday's practice, he will likely sit Saturday, marking his fourth straight absence. His status for Sunday's game against the Mavs is uncertain.

Andersen (ribs) was a limited participant during Friday's practice, and will be questionable for Saturday's game against the Timberwolves.
Andersen has only played in two of the Heat's five games this season as he continues to deal with bruised ribs. He's needed even more now that fellow center, Justin Hamilton (groin) has been ruled out for Saturday's game. If Andersen is given the green light to play against the Timberwolves, he'll slide in as the immediate reserve to Chris Bosh at center.
Tue Nov 4 201417:52Andersen (ribs) will not play Tuesday against Rockets
Andersen (ribs) will not play Tuesday against the Rockets, Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald reports.
The Birdman was doubtful heading into Tuesday night, and he'll sit out his second straight game with bruised ribs after missing Sunday's matchup with Toronto. Consider Andersen questionable for Wednesday's meeting with the Hornets.

Andersen (ribs) is listed as doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Rockets, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Andersen sustained a bruised rib in Saturday's win over Philadelphia, and chances appear slim that he's on the court against the Rockets. That's good news for Dwight Howard, who will face a depleted Miami front line, as Udonis Haslem (quad) is also banged up and considered questionable to play. Chris Bosh will likely be forced to match up with Howard for much of the night.
Sun Nov 2 201416:56Andersen (ribs) ruled out for Sunday's matchup with Raptors
Andersen (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup with the Raptors.
Andersen is dealing with a bruised rib suffered in Saturday's victory over the Sixers. He likely won't miss an extended period of time, but Miami will be without him for Sunday evening's game against Toronto. Udonis Haslem (quad) will also sit out, so the Heat will be stretched thin in the frontcourt.
Tue Oct 7 201418:27Andersen (toe) will be active for Tuesday's preseason game
Andersen (toe) will be active for Tuesday's preseason game.
While he will be active, he may not play big minutes, as the Heat could opt to take a cautious approach with the backup center.
Mon Oct 6 201422:16Andersen (calf/toe) practiced fully Monday
Andersen (calf/toe) practiced fully Monday, but coach Erik Spoelstra considers the big man questionable for Tuesday's preseason outing against the Magic, the Miami Herald reports.
Andersen's array of minor injuries held him to the bench in the Heat's preseason opener Saturday, and that caution could extend to another game. Because offseason addition Josh McRoberts (toe) may not be cleared for Opening Night, Andersen would be the favorite to factor into the frontcourt mix next to starting center Chris Bosh.

Andersen, who is battling calf and toe injuries, will not play in Saturday's preseason game against New Orleans, the South Florida Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman reports.
This seems to be a precautionary move by Miami; there have not been any indications that any of Andersen's injuries are more than minor ailments. The Heat's next preseason contest comes Tuesday against Orlando.

Andersen continues to deal with calf and foot injuries and is questionable for Saturday's preseason game against the Pelicans.
Being the veteran that he is, Andersen won't need a lengthy preseason workload to prepare for the regular season. Even so, the Heat will be hoping that his multiple injuries won't linger into the regular season because the 36-year-old will be needed off the bench on a daily basis.

Andersen did not participate in Wednesday's team scrimmage due to a sore calf, Joe Goodman of the Miami Herald reports.
Chalk this up as minor soreness for Andersen, who likely would have taken the court had this been a regular season game. The ailment is not expected to adversely affect his availability heading into exhibition contests.

Andersen is working on a mid-range jump shot as a surprise element in the Heat's offensive attack, the Sun-Sentinel's Shandel Richardson reports.
He has been working on jumpers from the elbow and the baseline, because at the age of 36, Andersen doesn't want to be reliant on scoring solely on dunks and put-backs. Even if Andersen is able to consistently make those mid-range shots, it's not like the Heat are going to make him a big part of the offensive attack. For fantasy purposes, the hustle stats are still the main source of his limited value.
Wed Jul 23 201409:17Chris Andersen's deal worth $10.4M over 2 yrs
Chris Andersen's contract with the Heat is worth $10.4 million over two years.
It's also fully guaranteed, which makes it a very nice haul for the 36-year-old big man. He averaged 6.6 points on 64.4 percent shooting last season, adding 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in under 20 minutes per game, which wasn't quite enough for value in typical fantasy leagues.

Sun Jul 13 201420:20Heat 'nearing' deal with FA Chris Andersen
The Heat are reportedly "nearing [a] deal" with free agent Chris Andersen, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Pat Riley lost LeBron James in free agency but he's done an admirable job keeping the rest of his team's core intact, while adding Josh McRoberts and Luol Deng to fill out the roster. Birdman has also been pursued by the Cavaliers and it's not a done deal that he'll return to South Beach, but all signs point in that direction.

Fri Jul 11 201422:46Report: Chris Andersen and Cavs in talks
The Cavs and Chris Andersen are in talks according to Fox Sports Ohio.
Andersen obviously has the history with LeBron and the Cavs don't exactly have a deep frontcourt. Considering the Birdman is a serviceable backup for any playoff contender, he might have a few suitors come out of the woodwork in the next 24 hours.

Sat Jun 28 201420:34Andersen, Chalmers may not be back with Heat
With LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade all set for an apparent return to the Heat, Chris Andersen could be an odd man out for Miami next year.
Mario Chalmers is in the same boat as Andersen, while guys like Ray Allen, Udonis Haslem and possibly James Jones appear likely to return to the team. The Heat are hoping to add at least one more big name this summer, with Carmelo Anthony, Kyle Lowry, Marcin Gortat and Trevor Ariza being some early targets. Simply put, Chalmers and Andersen are probably going to get bigger offers than the Heat will be able to handle.

Mon Jun 16 201410:31Chris Andersen to opt out, enter free agency
Chris Andersen will opt out of the final year of his contract and enter free agency.
The Heat got a little more than they bargained for with the Birdman. Andersen averaged 6.6 points, 5.3 boards and 1.3 blocks on 64.4 percent shooting in his 72 regular season games, so they may want to bring him back on a multi-year deal.

Tue Jun 3 201414:16Chris Andersen (thigh) limited at practice
Chris Andersen (bruised thigh) was limited to conditioning work during Tuesday's practice.
Andersen returned to action vs. the Pacers on Friday, scoring nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds in just 13 minutes of action, but he missed Monday's practice and his status is now somewhat uncertain for Game 1 of the Finals. His inactivity is likely just a precaution and he could return to the court as soon as Wednesday's practice.

Mon Jun 2 201413:28Chris Andersen still not back at practice
Chris Andersen (thigh) did not practice on Monday.
After missing two games, he played well in Game 6 to knock out the Pacers, scoring nine points with 10 boards in 13 minutes. Andersen's thigh injury is clearly not back to 100 percent, but it would be a surprise to see him on the sidelines in Game 1 on Thursday.
