Fri Nov 11 201115:28Browns lose SS T.J. Ward (foot) for 4-6 weeks
Browns SS T.J. Ward will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a foot injury.
It's likely a fracture of some kind, because Ward's foot has been in a cast all week after he injured it in last Sunday's loss to the Texans. Usama Young will take over as Cleveland's starting strong safety indefinitely. Ward's loss is a sizable blow to the Browns' top-ranked NFL pass defense, but will be felt much more against the run. Through the season's first nine weeks, Pro Football Focus has graded Ward as the NFL's No. 1 safety in run support.

Fri Nov 11 201113:55T.J. Ward will not play against Rams
Browns SS T.J. Ward still has a cast on his injured foot and will not play against the Rams.
The Browns often use Ward to cover opposing tight ends as well as to play in the box, so this is an upgrade for Steven Jackson's Week 10 fantasy matchup. Despite missing early-week practices with a hip injury, Usama Young will start.

Sun Aug 15 201009:34FS Ward making quite an impression
Browns FS T.J. Ward made quite an impression in Saturday's preseason opener against the Packers.
First the good. Ward played the entire first half recording 6 tackles including a monster hit on Donald Driver. The bad. Ward failed to stop FB John Kuhn at the goal line and gave up the touchdown. The ugly. Ward got beat on a 25-yard pass from Aaron Rogers to Greg Jennings. Ward is going to have his ups and downs, but all signs indicate that he'll be quite the tackling machine in Cleveland's secondary.

Tue Aug 10 201014:19Browns fine rookie T.J. Ward $1,760
The Browns fined rookie FS T.J. Ward $1,760 after his cellphone alarm went off during a team meeting Monday night.
Belichick wannabe Eric Mangini has an itchy trigger finger when it comes to fining players, and Ward was his latest victim. Fellow rookie Joe Haden and Ward both mentioned the fine on their Twitter accounts last night. The discipline won't affect Ward's already strong chances of starting Week 1.

Thu Aug 5 201011:28Ward playing with first-string defense
Second-round S T.J. Ward has played with the first-string defense in every practice since training camp opened.
A punishing hitter, Ward would seem better suited to strong safety. The other starter, Abram Elam, played that spot last year, and Ward has been told to prepare for both strong and free safety. Don't be surprised to see Elam forced to the other side by the end of summer.

Mon Jul 26 201015:24Browns do deal with T.J. Ward
Browns agreed to terms with rookie S T.J. Ward, the No. 38 overall pick, on a four-year contract.
A physical safety out of Oregon with a skill set similar to 2009 Patriots second-rounder Patrick Chung's, Ward appears ticketed for free safety duties in Cleveland. Ward worked extensively with the first-team defense at OTAs, and is a solid bet to lead Browns defensive tackles in tackles this year.

Fri Apr 23 201018:47Browns go defense again, select T.J. Ward
Browns selected Oregon S T.J. Ward with the No. 38 pick in the 2010 draft.
Ward was just a fourth-rounder on NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock's board. A former walk-on, Ward lacks true safety strength and speed but plays faster than his forty time. A thumper in run support, Ward excels in making plays in space. He should have a chance to start at a rookie, with Sheldon Brown possibly staying at corner.
