Manager Pete Mackanin dropped Altherr to the eighth spot in the lineup Thursday due to an increasing number of strikeouts, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Altherr has struck out in 28.7 percent of his plate appearances since joining the Phillies. Prior to Thursday's game, he had multiple strikeouts in each of his last five starts. Altherr got off to a hot start after being promoted from the minors, but he will need to make some adjustments now that pitchers are adjusting to him.
