Tue Aug 14 201222:08Kendrick outstanding in victory over Marlins
Kyle Kendrick was outstanding in Tuesday's victory over the Marlins, allowing just six hits over seven scoreless innings while racking up six strikeouts.
He needed to be every bit as dominant too, because Josh Johnson twirled a gem himself on the other side of the diamond. Kendrick has been a nice luxury for the Phillies all season long, capable of serving in long relief or as an effective starting option. He's assumed a full-time role in the rotation with the departure of Joe Blanton, and will take a 5-9 record and 4.53 ERA into Sunday's matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee. He's worth a look as a spot starter in deeper mixed leagues.

Mon Aug 6 201209:32Phillies confirm Kendrick to start Wednesday
Manager Charlie Manuel confirmed Kyle Kendrick will start Wednesday's game against the Braves.
Kendrick is the leading candidate to hold down Joe Blanton's spot in the rotation. He allowed two runs on four hits over his four innings of work in his last start.

Fri Aug 3 201221:49Kendrick solid in spot start vs. D'Backs
Kyle Kendrick was solid in a spot start against the Diamondbacks on Friday, allowing two runs on four hits over his four innings of work.
Kendrick fanned two and didn't walk a batter in the game. He was called upon to make the start in place of Joe Blanton who was traded to the Dodgers earlier in the day. Kendrick has basically been the Phillies sixth starter this season, making 14 starts in his 26 appearances. He looks like the leading candidate to hold down Blanton's spot in the rotation long term, and may hold some mixed league value in the second half. He'll likely get the ball next when they take on the Braves at home on Wednesday.

Thu Jun 28 201216:31Kyle Kendrick gives up five runs in loss
Kyle Kendrick surrendered five runs in seven innings Thursday in a loss to the Pirates.
On the plus side, he bounced back well after giving up all five runs in the first inning. Still, he hasn't won since June 1 and he's now 2-8 with a 5.38 ERA for the season. It'd be for the best if the Phillies could send him back to the pen.

Fri Jun 22 201222:13Kendrick to start Saturday vs. Rays
Kyle Kendrick will make the start Saturday against the Rays.
The assumption was that Cliff Lee would start Saturday following Friday's rainout, but he may end up pitching on Sunday. The Phillies have yet to make an official announcement on their plans for Sunday, though.

Sun Jun 17 201216:08Kyle Kendrick roughed up again
Kyle Kendrick got roughed up for six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings of Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Kendrick punched out four. His biggest mistake came in the sixth, where he served up a two-run homer to Colby Rasmus. Kendrick has now allowed at least five runs in three of his four starts since shutting out the Cardinals on May 26. A pure stop-gap in Philadelphia's rotation, he's off the radar in mixed leagues.

Sat May 26 201221:50Kendrick gets first shutout, Phils beat Cards
Kyle Kendrick tossed the first shutout of his career in Saturday's 4-0 defeat of the Cardinals.
Kendrick yielded seven hits, but he didn't walk a batter and struck out four while throwing 70 of his 94 pitches for strikes. The right-hander has now pitched well in three straight outings and may be worth scooping up in deeper mixed fantasy leagues for his next start against Miami.

Wed May 16 201223:45Kyle Kendrick excellent in no-decision
Kyle Kendrick held the Cubs just two two runs (one earned) on three hits in six innings of Wednesday's 9-2 win.
The Phillies scored seven of their runs after the seventh inning, so Kendrick got stuck with a no-decision. With Vance Worley tentatively expected to need only the minimum 15 days on the disabled list, Kendrick isn't worth a look in NL-only leagues for the time being.

Wed May 16 201211:10Kendrick starting in place of Worely on Wed.
Kyle Kendrick will start in place of Vance Worley (elbow) Wednesday night against the Cubs.
Worley was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation and will miss at least his next couple of turns in the starting rotation. Kendrick has an ugly 7.32 ERA and 12/9 K/BB ratio over 19 2/3 innings this season and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Sun May 6 201219:04Kendrick to return to 'pen on Wednesday
Kyle Kendrick will return to the bullpen when Cliff Lee is activated from the disabled list Wednesday.
The Phillies said Kendrick could toss an inning Sunday night if needed. He pitched very well in his last start, out-dueling Stephen Strasburg on Friday, allowing just one run on seven hits over five innings of work. The 27-year-old righty can again be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Fri May 4 201223:01Kendrick solid against Nationals
Kyle Kendrick pitched very well in out-dueling Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals on Friday, allowing just one run on seven hits over his five innings of work.
He struck out two and walked two on the night. Unfortunately for Kendrick and the Phillies, the bullpen was unable to hold the lead and deliver his victory. Kendrick's stamina still isn't built up to the point where he can go very deep into games, but he surely was effective in this one. He'll continue to fill in for Cliff Lee while he's on the DL, making his next turn in the rotation against the Mets on Wednesday.

Sun Apr 29 201216:49Kyle Kendrick goes six solid innings in loss
Kyle Kendrick allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits in six innings of Sunday's loss to the Cubs.
Kendrick struck out seven and walked one, faring much better in his second start of the season than he did in the first. His biggest mistake came in the fourth, where he served up a solo bomb to Joe Mather. With Cliff Lee (oblique) progressing as scheduled, Kendrick may not get to make another start.

Tue Apr 24 201200:43Kyle Kendrick pounded by Diamondbacks
Kyle Kendrick was lit up for seven runs and 11 hits in three-plus innings by the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Kendrick had a 3.14 ERA in his 15 starts for the Phillies last year, but he didn't have it working in place of Cliff Lee tonight. The hope is that he'll only need to make one more start before Lee gets back.

Sat Apr 21 201219:59Kendrick to start Monday for Phillies
Kyle Kendrick will start for the Phillies on Monday against the Arizona Diamonbacks.
Kendrick gets the call to fill in for the injured Cliff Lee who was placed on the DL on Saturday. He's filled in admirably in this role in the past, and is a great luxury for the Phillies to have.

Sun Feb 19 201210:28Kyle Kendrick inks contract extension
Phillies signed RHP Kyle Kendrick to a two-year, $7.5 million contract extension.
The Phils avoided arbitration with Kendrick by inking him to a one-year, $3.585 million deal last month, and they've tacked on another year, buying out his final year of arbitration eligibility. Kendrick is coming off a nice year, as he posted a 3.22 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 114 2/3 innings. $7.5 million over two years is a lot to give a swingman, but Kendrick does give the Phils some valuable versatility.

Fri Jan 13 201213:01Kyle Kendrick avoids arbitration
Phillies avoided arbitration with RHP Kyle Kendrick by signing him to a one-year, $3.585 million contract.
It's a pretty penny to be paying a swingman, but Kendrick is coming off a nice year, posting a 3.22 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 114 2/3 innings. He'll be eligible for arbitration for a final time in 2013 before hitting free agency. Kendrick is slated to begin the 2012 season as a long man out of the bullpen but figures to make at least a handful of starts again.

Tue Sep 20 201116:45Kyle Kendrick goes six scoreless
Kyle Kendrick blanked the Nationals for six innings in a no-decision on Tuesday.
Kendrick will get to finish the season in the rotation with Vance Worley being moved back to the pen. It doesn't get any notice because of the performance of the rest of the pitching staff, but Kendrick has been terrific in posting a 3.04 ERA in 15 starts and 17 relief appearances.

Thu Sep 15 201117:47Kyle Kendrick wins in return to mound
Kyle Kendrick allowed just a run and two hits over five innings in winning the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Marlins.
Kendrick hadn't pitched since Aug. 24, so the Phillies got him out of the game quickly. He was extremely effective, though, striking out six and walking none. A Logan Morrison solo homer was the lone damage and the only run of the Marlins for the day in the 3-1 loss.
